I miss Tim Horton's multi-grain bread. There are so few locations in the U.S.A., though. I haven't gone to Denny's since they still had Sambo's, and made me sick.

I wish there were Checkers quick serve restaurants everywhere. I need my double-cooked fries.
Hmm, I'm in Canada and Tim Hortons is hated here. Ever since they were bought out by a US company their food quality has gone down the drain. The only redeemable quality (IMO) is how cheap they remain.

Well, that hurt.
I have gout. Which annoys me because I don't believe I live the lifestyle that deserves gout (no rich puddings, no port, I eat my vegies (including pumpkin tips cooked in coconut milk - yummo!!!)).
As a result of it not being treated properly, I have a swollen toe. It is now being treated, and is improving, but is still red and swollen.

Thursday night is bin night. I put the three wheelie bins out, they magically empty themselves overnight, and in the morning, after the third (3rd) reminder from my beloved, I bring them in.
In the process, I manage to drop one of the three (the largest, of course) on my toe.
The red, swollen, sore toe.

It doesn't matter what treatment you are having, dropping a 20kg wheelie bin on it is always going to be painful.
Anyway, cleansing baths, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory dressings are helping.

I was wondering what the kama was going to be from replacing two garden taps without problems or leaks, and in only 5 minutes each. I guess this was it.
As Hyacinth Bucket (that's pronounced Bouquet) of Keeping Up Appearances said Gout is the affliction of the wealthy. You should be proud to have such an upscale affliction.

I hope you'll be back to 100% soon.

I haven't visited since 2014. They had quite a few locations straight down from Windsor, ON but I'm near the San Francisco Bay Area now and they only had the coffee at the hockey rinks.

If a robot human is called an android, what is a robot dog (a la K9 in Dr Who) called? A candroid?*

Ok, I blame this random thought on the extra strong Aeropress coffee I made myself this morning.

You just reminded me of a joke for stores:

Prankster: Do you have Prince Albert (tobacco) in the can (slang for W.C.)?
Shopkeeper: Yes, we do.
Prankster: Could you let him out?

The parent company of Tim Hortons, Burger King, and Popeyes seems to be partly based in Toronto, ON and Miami, FL. It's an interesting combination. Burger King has been passed from one group to another for a while, and Popeyes was once a subsidiary of America's Favorite Chicken, along with Church's.

I don't go to fast food (say, McDonalds) or fast casual (for example, Chili's) chain restaurants (or, as they're called in the industry, stores, ugh) either, unless I am away from home and there aren't any alternatives. But if I have no choice, say, at a roadside rest stop or at a train station or at an odd hour, I'll go in for something defrosted and deep fried made by a minimally trained worker to match a photo on a laminated poster.

Long live Little Chef and Tim Horton's and Denny's!
;-)

Ahh Dennys, back in the early 1980’s, 1979-1981 actually , I was an Explorer Scout, GM tech center Warren Michigan, was our sponsor, met lotta great people there, advisors and people my age.

Anyways us “young adults” we’d go afterwards to Dennys on 12 mile for their “grand slam” breakfast special.. yea 8-9pm . Simpler times.
Ha, we took a 1976 Chevy chevette with a 4cyl engine, complete rebuild added a turbocharger, tuned it on the GM dyno’s. That thing would smoke tires!!!

The weather. Could really do with a dry weekend as I have a lot of jobs to do in the garden.
Lawn mowing especially as it’s quite long.
I’m working next weekend (12 day weeks are the best!), so if not this weekend it’s going to be quite a while.

I’ve been thinking about improving my health lately. I’ve already started walking, dieting and physical therapy, but I’m looking for something more. I guess I’m just looking for balance and inner peace. Maybe a long walk on the beach?

I wished I live closer to the sea. I live about as far as you can in the UK from it.
I’m walking or running around 9 miles a day at the moment. Feel much healthier than I used to.
I find the AW helps with closing my rings every day etc.

Today I’ve been talking to two girls I’ve known in my uni class. And I was gladly surprised they both included me on the conversation, asking me about things. I used to be the silent guy who nobody knows, but I’m trying to change that. The introvert in me was begging to run away, but I’m forcing myself to be a bit more social.

Even tho I won’t have any plan for the weekend, just being able to talk during the break has lifted my mood. And I’d like to keep up with that, but some days I just don’t feel like talking to anyone at all…

I’m trying to not give a **** if any social interaction doesn’t go the way I would have liked it. Damn, even if some people won’t like me! That’s pretty normal. I already know some people on this forum may don’t like me but that hasn’t stopped me from posting here for more than a decade.

PS: this is my first “personal“ post after 12 years on MacRumors. I‘ve restricted my activity here mainly to technology and maybe some other passions like cinema or videogames, and I’m not sure I’m doing the right thing opening up, but I just wanted to share this sort of progress on my journey.

In other platforms where I’ve been honest, transparent, and vocal about my life and my personal issues, some people took advantage of it using it later for personal attacks in front of others, that’s why I will mostly remain “technology-focused” on this great forum.

I can walk 4 tops, but my back surgery prevents me from going further (for now). I usually push for at least 1.25 miles 4 times a week to start. No strength training yet, but PT is working on my core to get that going. After that, the sky is the limit. The ocean is the only place all my pain washes away and I feel truly at peace. I'd give anything to live there!

Blood oranges, daffodils, and new season's garlic, are all on my mind, for spring is now with us, even though it is still pretty cold.
I didn’t know blood oranges were popular in other countries!
I don’t like them anymore because they are pretty acidic, but I used to drink their juice when I was a kid.

Indeed. We moved to the countryside a few years ago, and it’s very peaceful. On my walk before work this morning we saw squirrels and a deer.
The woods are about 3/4 of a mile away. We go there most days.

How would it be in Bristol or thereabouts? The southern shore always looks as gray as that of Yokohama in Japan, at least on UK TV series.

Grey is the colour of all of the UK. We don’t see much blue sky until Summer!

Bristol is a nice enough place. But in terms of the coast, Northumberland is the best place in the UK by miles.

I suppose that I've been living in sunshine too long for my own good. I don't have to worry about SAD, though.

The people who owned Burger King bought Wendy's after Dave Thomas died, as I recall. He wasn't in charge of Wendy's at that time anyway.

Tim Hortons and Popeyes came later.

My sister worked a high school job at Wendy’s early 1980’s. They had the best chili then, anyone here know the secret?
“Today’s” chili used “yesterday’s” cooked but non consumed burgers, truth.
It was so good, tasty, rich, thick.
Then later in the 80’s they stopped that. Wendy’s chili today is meh, thin not tasty like the early 80’s.

I don't know whether blood oranges are popular in "other countries", but, speaking for myself, I absolutely adore them.

And I adore them irrespective of whether they are consumed with a salad, juiced, or simply devoured as the delicious and awesomely acidic seasonal citrus delights that they are.

Allowing chili to 'ferment' overnight in the fridge is a good way to enhance the flavour intensity of your chili.
