The unkempt look has been popular for quite a while now.

I wonder, how much time does a person spend meticulously primping their hair so it looks windblown but not too windblown?

I guess along the same line is how much time does a person spend trimming their face to appear unshaven but not too unshaven?

I'm wondering how I can fix this, does someone have a solution?

Adjectives has an order of precedence, that if not followed, makes an author sound like a raving lunatic. Adjective must be in this order: opinion-size-age-shape-color-origin-material-purpose noun. I can have an odd, little, old, round, red, English, glass, writing desk. If I call it an old, odd, glass, English, round, writing, red desk, it sounds weird.

English writers knows this, but we don't know that we know. Our teachers never taught us this. We picked it up from reading--a lot of reading.

One of my students turned in an essay where the adjective didn't follow the order of precedence and it confused the hail out of me. After a bit of word shuffling, I understood what he was writing. That got me to thinking about the orders adjectives need to be in in order to make sense.

English is weird.🧐

My parents still get The New York Times in physical form!
Well truth be told my Dad gets a Times at the weekend. But I’ve not had a physical newspaper in more than a decade.

I did buy a photography magazine at the airport at the weekend. First page is the editor explaining it’s their last ever printed version.

Given that the earth is spherical, if everybody jumped at once, we all balance each other out, with a net impact of 0.
There'd still be a record of it.

In a coffee shop.
On my mind is how easy US paperboys have it. Riding along throwing newspapers onto lawns. Here we have to put them through each door, through the letterbox.

Of course this was from my youth. These days who reads physical newspapers?

Every Saturday, I have the Financial Times week-end edition delivered (thanks to my local shop) through my letter box; personally, I love physical newspapers - reading something online is not the same, though I don't doubt the sheer convenience of being able to do so.

That is an awful pity; I hate to see an end to physical media.

I didn't know you had a YouTube channel, let alone with that many subscribers!! I want to check it out now!

I'm not saying that no sponsored material is useful to the content creator ever, just that from the big guys I (used to) watch with 500k+ subs, it doesn't look genuine. Not saying it applies to every channel in existence--just an observation from larger creators.

Here's one of my latest videos (been semi-inactive), but yeah, it's always been a fun side hustle.

Also pay no attention to the corny infomercial at the beginning - it's to get more people using my app!

Yeah, you never really know how one feels about a product but the smaller channels can shill even harder than the large ones since they have fewer options and are more desperate to "make it", so to speak.

I miss the blockbuster days, and while I appreciate the convenience of digital media, we lost something special when they went out of business.
There used to be a retail chain called Hasting's. I'm sure you older folks remember it better than me. We had several in my hometown, and I remember going there with my parents as a kid to rent DVDs. I think they went bankrupt in the mid-2010s sometime.

Incidentally, I also remember someone trying to steal a TV there once.

I love this!! Fantastic job! I appreciate all the hard work you've put into this video, and the channel in general!

Thanks man! AS someone who works a real job it always grinds my gears when people say content creation isn't hard work.. I promise you that researching, scripting, filming and then editing is extremely tedious and takes up a lot of time!

Absolutely! I'm being totally serious--I really admire your work! And you're absolutely right--it's very time-consuming and very easy to just give up altogether. So good for you for sticking with it even though it's tiresome sometimes!

And I thought trying to be a performer was hard... content creation is a totally different game. With performing, at least you're (usually) confined to a city, so you have competition with maybe 50-100 other people, depending on the size of the city and what instrument/genre you play. Your odds increase if you play in several genres and/or on multiple instruments. With YouTube though, you're competing against BILLIONS of other people trying to do the same thing! And you also can't start making money right away, either.

Halloween and what I’m going to do for it.
I'm not doing anything for Halloween. Haven't dressed up or anything since I was a kid, and even then it was pressure from my brother (who's the complete opposite of me in almost every way possible).

Instead, I'll have choir rehearsal, then I'll be attending a lecture on U.S.-China relations, and going to the IGLU (improvisation group) concert right after. Far better use of my time than obscure social events (with people who aren't even really my friends) that have no meaning to me.

That all sounds really fun, but remember it's okay to cut back and hang with friends too! Both are important.

True!! But I can make the excuse--because it's true--that my friends are performing in the IGLU concert. I'll also admit, I'm not entirely the "hanging out" type either. Feels really awkward to me.
