Starting (*) the morning with a nice cup of cappuccino (homemade) is just amazing.
Agreed.

Nothing - but nothing (and this is an opinion I have held since my mid teens when I was the only person in the house, or that I knew, who craved, needed, and prepared a morning mug of coffee prior to heading off to school) - equals the sheer - almost sensual, though that is not a word that normally appears in my vocabulary in the mornings - pleasure of the first cup (or mug) of good quality coffee of the day.
(*) starting meant as that action that follows the feeding of the “starving” meowing cats.
Indeed.

Oh yeah! Sometimes when I get up my blood glucose can be in the low 50’s. But the cats get fed first. 😄

A kiss is not just a kiss - will be interesting how this will work out?
I haven’t followed the development of this a lot since the Women's World Cup final in 2023.
But what a storm it has become in Spain, and ouch what a lot of pressure that woman have gone through since the kiss-incident.
Well, women and men can have a bit different experience around such situations. Not the 1st time in history, for sure. Prosecutors are seeking a two-and-half year jail term for Mr Rubiales.

Sadly, there has been a rash of 'Aggravated Racial Abuse' charges made against people of colour in Britain recently. This charge can come with a jail sentence of up to 4 years. One gentleman was charged because he sent an emoji of a raccoon to a black Conservative politician. Sam Kerr was charged not because she called the officer 'stupid' but but because she called him 'white'.

While I find some remarks absolutely disheartening, disgusting, and vulgar, the idea that some people in some countries can go to jail or even be fined for speech is absolutely revolting.

I’ve know Eric since 1990, he was a co-op engineering student at my work, I joined in 1989.

We were all young and grew close, in 2005 he moved from R&D to marketing, we stayed in touch thru many work stuff and local gatherings.

He was diagnosed with Lou Gherigs disease just 1 year ago… RIP my brother.

More proof that the sporting world (and much of the rest of the world as well to be frank) has gone off the deep end, and Spanish football is again involved...

There is a big to do concerning an incident in a Barcelona women's game...

From The Guardian story... "Espanyol had released a statement condemning an “unacceptable” incident in which they alleged that León “made a gesture with her hand that violated the intimacy of our player”. In response, the Barcelona player said late on Monday night there was “no contact with her private parts, and certainly no intention”.

Blindfolds will be mandated soon to prevent a player from glaring at another or giving the evil eye. How do these babies even leave the house in the morning?

I watched the clips of it, and there’s no certainty that it was with any intention, as I see it. It could very likely just been a reflex of their contact.
I’ve seen way worse things happen, that had no ill intention, in football matches.
If people are very sensitive, they have to get some extra protection by themselves, or pick another sport.

I'm in no-way protecting the Barça player here, and I have no idea of her intention.
The only one's who can know this for sure is the 2 ones that were involved.
I would highly recommend 'personal revenge' from Caracas instead - If she’s smart she’ll find it together with her teammates soon enough on the pitch instead.
It’s better to use anger/upsets as training-fuel and give back in a smart way 😈

Sending my heartfelt prayers and warmest wishes to you, your family, and your colleague’s families. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Sending you all my love and hugs.

This news came as a complete surprise, and I am so sorry for your loss. It is truly unfortunate that such a sudden and unexpected event has occurred.

Hey, have you heard about the new Sabrina Carpenter-inspired shaken espresso drink at Dunkin’? It’s based on the singer’s hit song from 2024, and guess what? Dunkin’ is having happy hour for $3 medium-sized iced shaken espresso drinks until early March. They’re available daily after noon. I tried it, and it’s actually pretty good! It’s a bit stronger than their usual macchiato and signature lattes, but they also have iced cappuccinos. I usually cut the sugar to half when ordering it. Here’s a picture of it with my Apple Watch.

Hey everyone, I’ve got a few things on my mind right now. First, I’m still on the hunt for MagSafe ring stands for my iPhone. But I also need to get a bumper case for my Apple Watch since my old ones from the Series 1 don’t fit anymore. They got pretty dirty from protecting my old Apple Watch from tackles during flag football games last spring. I played center last season. Now that I’m going back to school next week and will be taking machining class again after winter break, I need your help finding clear or color matched cases for my Apple Watch Series 6. I have the 40mm gold stainless steel model, but the cases can’t be too bulky or overpower the watch’s color. Since these get nasty if you wear it very often I only will be using it once a week. Any suggestions would be great!

Sat in the hotel bar waiting on food. On my second pint (not the best idea on an empty stomach!).

Alarm went off at 4 am. 4 hour drive including a charging/coffee stop.

Work trips are so rewarding aren’t they. End up doing extra hours, being out of pocket and away from my better half for the night.
Well, hopefully the food is worth waiting for.

Enjoy your pints.

Mediocre tbh. But I was famished so it didn’t touch the sides!

Will be an early night though as it was an early start (and will be again tomorrow!).
Well, you know what they say - sometimes, a change is as good as a rest, and sometimes, a meal prepared by someone else in a hotel, or pub, is just what one needs.

Anyway, the best of luck with tomorrow.

Same here, I went on a work trip about 3 weeks back, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! The company took care of everything, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The only thing we had to spend our own money on were souvenirs from the gift shop and maybe some DoorDash for our hotel room.

And guess what? NASA pays for all our travel expenses, lodging, and even food! That means all the interns took the bus to work, which was about 4 hours from home. It was a bit of a trek, but it was worth it. On the first day, we had to wake up super early, around 3:30 or 4 am, and get on the bus at 5 am. But hey, we had a Starbucks stop along the way, and our chaperone/bus driver treated us to coffee for all our coworkers on our team. Even a bougie 🤑 BJ’s dinner midway on the bus ride home. It was a nice little treat!

I worked a total of 11 hours a day for three days, and I had a 6-hour shift on the fourth day. But you know what? Those long hours didn’t feel too bad because the company provided us with all the food we needed during our three breaks at the office. It was like having a personal chef!

As for the duration of my work trip, it was 4 days long.

Oh, and here’s something cool: I get to keep all my badges, the shirt I wore as my uniform, my portfolio, and even some stickers. And guess what else? Our boss gave us a certificate to show that we finished our internship. It was a nice little token of appreciation.

As for Apple Watch cases, I’m on the lookout for a clear bumper. I’ve got a new Apple Watch band that I need to figure out how to punch an extra hole in. I’ll share the thread about it here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/getting-extra-hole-punched-in-leather-bands-thoughts.2449285/

Anyway, that’s all for now! Hope you’re doing great.

I think you might get more responses to those questions if you ask them in the iPhone and Watch forums.
:)

Although this thread is also for off-topic stuff, I still had separate threads on these topics or in the “Show off your Apple Watch” section. I’ll also look up about MagSafe rings in the MacRumors forums, y’all.

Wishing you all the best.

Ah, the unbridled enthusiasm of youth. I remember it.

Booked a little mini vacation in Vancouver again in a couple weeks. I'm very excited. Staying downtown in a lovely highrise. I plan on exploring the city some more and seeing some close friends. However, the first night.. Im staying inside, watching how I met your mother via my plex server, and ordering some pizza. Always fun to have a night in while you're visiting a different city IMO.

My work office is actually based in Vancouver too, so I may swing by to say hello to the many I haven't met yet.. but maybe not haha.

Clearly we have different types of trip. I was being sarcastic. I’d much rather be at home than doing unpaid overtime and clocking up miles on my car.

Earlier you mentioned that you haven't taken a sick day in a decade.. I think you should start taking a few. I personally use up all my sick days even if it's a minor illness. Life is short.
