lol. but yes it is, well atleast it was or he wouldnt have been able to hack into it. also its probably hooked up considering they have high security, and need to communicate with the launching things, and radars for trespassers, cameras, and communication with other departments and services. also they need access to control where the missile goes right? and if they dont have control after its launched, they need to have access to a maps service.
Yeah, I hear they're switching all our nuclear missiles from Mapquest to Google maps as part of a strategic upgrade.

You do realize that Los Alamos is more of a research and design facility and doesn't have missile silos?

im only telling you what my dad's friend told me. maybe he got confused with the missile crap but who cares. he hacked them, and its just an example of what can be done.

a jailbroken iphone is most powerful and dangerous device in the world. wanna know why? you may think, oh, so i can run a couple different operating systems on it...big whoop. right? well no, not only can you run actual operating systems on it, but you also have internet anywhere in the world, which computers dont unless they have a device routing off internet to them. therefore, if you are experienced enough, you can hack into Los Alamos, and launch a missile and blow up the world. Dont do that because i enjoy my life. lol. but still. This is why. Btw i have no idea how to do this but geohot probably has an idea on how to. i know someone who hacked into los alamos when he was 17, and went to jail for a few years. he also hacked the fbi to see if he was on their list for wanted criminals. when they asked him why he did it, he said "for fun". he was dared to do it, and it took him 3 months non stop. no sleep. no anything. after he got out the fbi hired him because he was so good at hacking. he has a jailbroken iphone. what do you think he could do now. and los alamos was supposed to have the tightest security. his name is peter. this is possible, he could do it if he wants to. trust me. he can do anything on a computer.

this is undoubtedly the most worthless piece of drivel I've read on this board in 7 years. just wow. I really hope you're at most 12 years old.

Woah. That's exactly what I need. Then I can give my phone to my gf & friends to look at, without wondering if they're nosing through my texts and photos, lol.

What apps are required for this?

JB phones are more prone to hacking and other vicious stuff. If you JB, you better know what you're doing.

LOL, what year are you in? ;)

The very first JBs were people who were really geeky and could pull that stuff off. But like any hack, the word got out on the internet how the non-techie can do this easily and safely.

The local Verizon store, near the ATT store (USA's carrier), always has a phone geek who can show you how. :)

At one time, it was considered very risky to put more RAM into a laptop than Apple recommended. It was only what us techies did on the PC side mostly, but only with desktops. We also liked testing out how far we could overclock Celerons. With laptop RAM way back when, you might end up wasting money and your OS would not recognize the extra RAM. But RAM makers figured this out and many an old iBook/Powerbook user started putting in 256 and 512 RAM sticks in when the max was a 128. Come to think of it, my rev. a iBook can use a third party upgrade.

It was also considered foolhardy to have a wireless network in your house if you valued security. But 802.11n has seemed to have solved this for many (from CISSP/Security+ books). The bad guys will find a way around this though.

Since this is a mess of a thread, and that the answer to this question might encourage others to JB, I'll ask it.

Is there an application that would leave the screen of the iPhone turned on (but dimmed) all the time Only when there is an unread text message? Sometimes I leave my iPhone for minutes at a time and I'd like to know if I missed any texts just by looking at the screen without pressing/touching anything. This is something I've always liked with older phones.

you are wrong on every level if you really think you can hack into los alamos and launch a missile with an iphone. does los alamos even have missiles? they are a national laboratory, not a defense site

really think about this
1) how did they catch your freind? really think about that...they know what they are doing
2) there are millions of jb iphones and computers and there hasnt been missile launched from hacks...
3) most labs are sooooo strict about networks and not even having internet access to even connect to for internal info

close, hes 14

My ambitions when I jailbreak are appearance related (Winterboard). I also found SBSettings, a quick launch settings interface, to be helpful. Operating Skype on 3G and Google Voice.

so your saying that i cant hack someone with an iphone? really? because ive ran windows 3.11 and windows 95, the actual operating system, and windows 95 has access to the internet.

i wasnt saying it makes you a hacker. i was saying a hacker can hack from it. you ever hear about that Norwegian kid who put windows mobile on his iphone? thats a perfect example of what can be done. im sure someone could put mac os x on an iphone if they enough dedication and time. sure it would take some modifying and coding but it could be done.
