iPhone 6 Plus
Read it & weep
(iOS 9.3.5 - with native coconutBattery)
Battery has only been charged to 100% maybe 8 times since new (when using this app) Never discharged (ever) below 40%.
The battery will outlast the phone for sure.
Lightning port will probably wear out before battery - ha!

So you have coconut battery on your iPhone? Or if not can you tell me what app that is please?

Based on the post looks like it's CoconutBattery on the phone:

Yes I saw that. But another poster said that CoconutBattery isn’t available for the iPhone and I can’t find it in the App Store. That’s why I wasn’t checking because it might not be available in my country.

It's not available in the App Store, nor is detailed battery information available in iOS since iOS 10. At one point a while back CoconutBattery was in the App Store for a short amount of time, and given that that user is using it on a device with iOS 9 it seems like the user installed it back when it was available and has been using it since then (since iOS 9 still provides detailed battery data).

Ah right, thanks for that.

There’s no evidence that keeping it above 20% and frequent top-offs are best...

Oh yeah?
How about this?

Any time the battery drops below 65% it's a good time to plug it in. This fact had been verified by extensive long term testing. The farther the charge level drops below 65%, the more detrimental it is to the battery. Take a look at the 75/25 line vs the 75/65 line.

That's not to say that everyone needs to plug in at 65%, but just that nobody is doing their battery any favors by -waiting- for the battery to drop down farther before plugging it in.

Bottom line: if the battery charge is at 65% or lower- plug it in if it's convenient.

Would you say that the Battery Life app is still accurate now if I am on iOS 9? I downloaded it on two devices and it seems to work fine, but I do not know if the information is accurate. iPhone 6s on iOS 9.3.3 and iPhone 5c running iOS 9.3.2

I'd assume that it's still fine under iOS 9.

Then I will add my data point: iPhone 5c bought I don't know when (phone belonged to a family member who gave it to another family member. Ended up as my backup phone).
85% capacity after 676 cycles. I find this really good.
I have read that it is more accurate when measured at 100%, so I will wait to measure it in the 6s and update later.

8+ 100% bought April 8
7+ 100% bought November 23rd
6S+ new battery replaced in November, 100%
6+ 94%
6S+ new battery replaced in November, 100%
128GB SE bought June 2017, 98%
64GB SE bought March 2017 94%

11/17 X - 100%
12/17 8+ - 100%

My wife is a power user on her X. Charges to 100% overnight. Finishes the day between 10-25%, so she’s gone thru a bunch of cycles. I don’t use my 8 plus as much, but still have a decent number of cycles.

Not sure how much faith I put in this. I think it’s kind of like how an iPhone charged to 100% will remain there for MUCH longer than normal. You can get 30-40 minutes of usage (screen on) if you take the phone off the charger at 100 and use it continuously. This is physically impossible because if you could get 30 minutes of usage per percent of charge, a full charge would last 3000 minutes. I wonder if it will ever leave beta.

You wife charge iphone X to 100%
But what number she start to charge her iphone from 20% or 40%

iPhone SE at 96%, 2 years old.

I am not sure what to make of this as it seems too good to be true and I don't have access to a mac and coconut battery. While I consider myself a somehwat heavy user, I don't play any games and watch few movies, so maybe I haven't really taxed the battery and battery temps as much as I would have thought. Battery life on the 11.3.1 update isn't an issue, either, so maybe it's more accurate than not.

My launch X still 100%.

I just charge it with whatever comes to hand, wireless, 12w iPad charger, 29w charger when I need max charge in a rush.

iPhone 6 Plus since launch (Sept 2014)
  • 74% (according to iOS)
  • 69.1% (according to CoconutBattery)
  • 1,001 cycles
Will be replacing the battery under their battery replacement offer for the 6 Plus soon.
