Just tested the battery life of my AWU 2 with AOD off and no cellular (not available in my country). Sleepfocus during sleep and no workouts, to see what it consumes on "standby" with notifications (I get quite a lot of them) and everything else on (Spo2 etc.)

Day 1: 7PM - 100%

Day 2: 11 AM - 90%

Day 2: 8 PM - 76%

Day 3: 8 AM - 63%

Day 3: 7:30 PM - 46%

Day 4: 9:30 AM - 30%.

Quite nice I think - 3 full days should be possible plus a bit of extra life.

U2. Started Monday with 100%. Did a workout Tuesday. Midday Wednesday and it's at 58%. Did a 20 minute charge while in the shower Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

The battery on the Ultra is going to make me rethink how I use the watch. It's simply not necessary to charge it daily.

Followup.
15 minute charge in the morning Thursday. Workout on Thursday afternoon. Put it on the charger around 2130 Thursday with 14% battery left.

It seems the way I use my AWU with a full re-charge at 7AM in the morning 24 hours later I still have about 3/4's of a charge. I forgot to charge it one morning and didn't remember to do it until late afternoon and it was still at 32%.

Ultra 2 just now: 61 hours and 20 minutes from 100 to 0. Took it off charger at 9.20 am on Saturday and is 22.40 on Monday.

Using Wayfinder watch face with all bells and whistles and with the screen always on.

I feel like mine is discharging way faster than you guys.

Just bought my AW2 on Saturday. Wanted to do a battery test, so I charged it to 100% on Sunday at noon took it off the charger then, and had to travel by plane that evening. When I arrived at my hotel at midnight it was already at 50% so from 12pm to 12am it dropped 50%??!! That seems way fast.

I was playing golf this morning and knew I was going to use the GPS on the Watch and was afraid the 50% would not get me through the day, so I threw it on the charger this morning while in the shower and in the 15 to 20 minutes I was in the shower Charged from 50% to 83% that seemed really fast. I used the Golf GPS on the watch for 5 1/2 hours today. (Slow tourney) and I am at 51% now at 5 PM. That seems better than yesterday by a lot.

What gives?

Is probably “new toy syndrome”. Basically you testing and playing with it more than you normally would. If you try this again next weekend, you should notice the battery lasting you a lot longer.

I’m definitely a little jealous of you folks with the Ultra 2, as it is sounding like it’s noticeably getting better battery life than the Ultra 1. My Ultra is still far better than my Series 7 or any previous Apple Watches for battery life, but it seems to have gone a little backwards with watchOS 10.

Maybe ios10 has some to do with it as I’ve never had anything else since owning this watch for three days. But I don’t see how it lasts more than a day and a half, at this point, without turning off a lot of functions, I would prefer to have.

I had to work through and remove all of the apps I have on my iPhone that I think are unnecessary on the Apple Watch. I am not going to use any of the streaming services on the watch or radio stations. I am mainly looking for apps on the iPhone most of which do not reside on the watch but that send notices to the watch. Earthquake Watch, Solar Monitor, astronomy notifications, etc. I noticed right off an increase in battery life.

AW9, decided to give the battery a test, charged to 100% yesterday, Wednesday around 8am, it’s about 1900 on Thursday and it’s just dropped below 30%. AOD is off, I’ve been switching between the snoopy and pallet faces, have had a fair number of notifications come through on it, have set some alarms, recorded a work out and slept with it on.
Good enough for me.

With the new release candidate of 10.1, my AWU 2 battery life is way better. I took my watch off the charger at 10:15 AM at 100%. At 8:15 PM, my watch is at 87% battery with cellular on all day. That’s 1.3% per hour. Previously, I was at about 1.7 to 1.8% per hour with cellular on.

Really hope that this battery improvement applies to the Series 9 too.

I last charged my Ultra 2 Friday night at 9:50pm. It's Monday at 7:32pm and my watch is at 20%. I have a second Ultra 2 so I just switch watches before bed and don't worry about charging.

Ultra 1 used to be great in terms of battery life before Watch OS10, now I barely get 48 hours with AOD off, Cellular off and with just 1 hour of pool swim activity. I used to get 3 days before the update and with more activity and GPS on. Unbelievable how Apple has ruined the whole experience.
Something must be wrong with your watch.

My Ultra 1 still gives me 48 hours very easily (I can sometimes stretch it between 55-60 hours with light usage), even with doing 1 hour workout both days. AOD on, wearing it during sleep (in sleep focus so the screen is off when I sleep), no cellular.

As I speak, it has been off the charger for 38 hours and I still have 39% battery left (no workout during these 38 hours).

Totally agree. My Ultra 1 had a great battery life. After 1 year of use it was not that great anymore (and health was only 97%).

My AWU 1 is at 93% battery health. Still can go about 2-2.5 days on a charge (AOD: on, Cell: Not connected, Brightness: 2/3, Blood Oxygen: off) but realistically I charge it for like 20-30 mins per day when I get in the shower or before bed. Thinking about getting an Ultra 2. I was waiting for the Ultra 3 but then that didn't come. I'm still happy with my watch but I really want the faster/more reliable Siri and I wouldn't complain about a bit more battery life too for when I go away for a weekend or go hiking for a couple of days. Do you think it's a worthy upgrade from the U1 to U2?

Love my black ultra 2!!! Have both an ultra 1 and 2, can compare them directly. I would say the heaviest usage is answering the phone - about 5-7 calls per day. I get about 48-50 hours on a charge wearing the ultra 1 24*7. after two weeks with the ultra 2, I get about 65-70 hours on the ultra 2. The speakers are so much better on the ultra 2 that I thought for sure it was draining the battery. Much to my surprise was the remarkable improvement in battery life between charges.

Siri is much improved. Very fast and I can use conversational English with reliable results.

I got my AWU 2 with the black Milanese band. I really wasn’t ready for the game changer that was. Most of my fav faces took on a different character with the matte all black. The colors really pop against the matte black as does the brightness. You will want to edit your faces if you go this route.

There are a few more improvements that given the trade in value of the AWU 1 I would heartily recommend upgrading to the AWU 2. It is weekend worthy!

Ultra 2 going good here

I have the AWU2, what has kept me from trading it in is the fact I have one that still has the O2 sensor activated and I am not going to get another AWU until that function is restored.

The AWU2 is still the current model so why would you trade it in? I don’t really care about the blood oxygen sensor it just uses power and doesn’t tell me anything useful. That being said if I buy an Ultra 2 I will have the blood oxygen sensor since it’s only disabled in USA.
