3GS (AT&T)
4 (Verizon - to get away from AT&T)
5 (for lightning connector)
6+ (for bigger display)
X (for face ID and T-Mobile - to get away from Verizon)
11 Pro (for camera)

Iphone 5S
Iphone SE
Iphone XR

That's pretty much it. I might get a new phone later this year, but it probably needs touch ID if I wanted to get really serious about upgrading.

Oh I like this...

  • Original iPhone (You can see my post history and find my posts talking about it on these forums, still got the phone)
  • iPhone 3G (One of the worst iPhones. Brought absolutely nothing new except 3G)
  • iPhone 3GS (The 'S' stood for speed and boy, was it fast at the time)
  • iPhone 4 (Antenna-gate, used it for a long time, maybe 16 months)
  • iPhone 4s (32GB storage in white. Was wonderful to look at back in 2011)
  • iPhone 5 (Great looking phone, but the paint all scratched off. Absolutely awful signal quality too)
  • iPhone 5s (One of the best iPhones ever made. Still got it. Touch ID and they fixed the awful signal quality. 4G too)
  • iPhone 6 (Poor, poor build quality. Bendgate. Changed my phone 3 times with Apple. Also, severely underpowered, not enough RAM)
  • iPhone 6s (Much, much better than the 6. Build quality vastly improved)
  • iPhone 7 (Classic! One of the best again. Piano black colour scratched too easy though. No headphone jack and waterproofing)
  • iPhone X (I loved it. Face ID. I know people had problems with it but my unit was problem-free. Also used it for almost 2 years which is the longest I've used an iPhone)
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max (Fantastic iPhone, beast of a camera. Only problem is the rounded edges made it look dated too early)
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max (Best iPhone of all. Design & functionality wise. Same good looks as the 5 and 5s. No real criticism I can think of)
So of all the years of iPhone, 2018 is the year I missed out on getting an iPhone (the XS).

3GS - not so much memory, just like iPod with cellular network
4S - small is beautiful, but fragile
6S - tough, powerful and good camera
SE 2020 - good camera, limited battery and a bit fragile
11 - using it now, good camera, larger screen and better battery (a bit warmer than XR)

My fave was the 5 it had everything plus was so well built , the 6 got bent and the battery ruptured !! , the 4 had a terrible camera but was nice overall and the 8+ is just utterly awful in every way apart from the camera

Can't wait to upgrade to the 13 !!!

Tbh I think I'll go for a smaller phone next time , love the features of the pro max but the size and weight is just ridiculous

Had a HUAWEI mate 20 X (7.2”) between XS max and 12 pro max. I found the 12 PM too heavy so gave it to my wife. Very pleased with regular 12

Looking forward to the 12 (or later), but the 11 is just so good already. Makes it difficult to justify an upgrade.

4, 5, 6, 11 Pro. Held onto the 6 for a long time since only the Pros were available in the smaller size. Finally relented and got the 11 Pro when it looked like the pattern would never change. So of course Apple did a 180 and released the 12 mini a year late for me.

Because of work from home last year my company gave everyone iPhones… the behemoth 11 I’ve been avoiding with an even bigger Otterbox case. That f@#$&ing aircraft carrier sits in my back pocket. If I sit on it and break it, oh well. It could be worse… they could have gotten us 11 Pro Plus phones. Then I would have needed to install wheels and make it into a skateboard. Can you tell I’m not a fan of large phones?

Well at first it was the iPhone3 and the screen got a slight crack so then I got the iPhone4 which I had for quite a while it seemed but then I stayed with the iPhone5 for a year or so and went to. Then an iPhone 6plus - that phone seemed
to have a lot of issues with getting dust in the camera. Then in rapid succession the iPhone7 (had that one the shortest of all iPhone lifespans since I got it late in the iPhone 7 run). Then I got an iPhoneX which I had for probably 3 years.
It was such a high quality phone I wasn't even sure I wanted the iPhone 11 so I skipped that one and waited and once the next lineup showed up have the 12ProMax and will probably stick with that for a while too as it has that same "wow"
quality the X had.

I've owned a phone from every generation because I have no impulse control. My favourite was the 3GS (followed by 12 Pro), least favourite was the 5 (followed by XS Max).

It used to be such fun hanging around outside an Apple Store or a Best Buy for a new phone and purchasing via the internet is just not the same, although it is much more reliable.

Will only upgrade every 2-3 years now, although the wife still has a 6s+ so will probably give her my 11 Pro Max and get the 13 Pro Max this year. That should do us for another few years!

I have always had Verizon, so we had to wait and stick it out with Blackberry and/or Android phones.

I didn't get into the Apple thing for quite some time. Got my first phone in August 2014 brand new iPhone 6 16GB. In December 2018 I had the battery replaced but never had any other hardware or software issues.

Not a real super user also, in fact far from it so kept that phone until August 2019 when it was no longer supported by the latest iOS.

Upgraded to a used 6S 16GB and kept that until December 2020. I could have just hung onto it until later this year but a good deal came up on a used iPhone 8 64GB so I went for it.

The 8 will be with me for a while now, I like the size, performance is OK, storage is way above what I need and it has a home button. I just love having a home button. It's going to get iOS 15 for sure so I fully expect to keep this phone for a few years with possibly a battery replacement.

Looks like I won't make Apple any richer in a hurry!!

Got my first in 2020
Iphone 11
Iphone 12 Pro 😆
I was very much a devout Android User till I tried my Mums Xr when I had a Samsung Galaxy S9. I won’t be going back to Android, I miss nothing from it.
