I really hope you're right. They're taking way too long.

If the new features (eg. VoIP) are causing the delay then just release an update for 6 and 6 Plus UI optimization now and release another update for new features later. Optimizing an app's UI doesn't take that long.
 
iOS 8.1 and newest beta of WhatsApp and crashing all the time. Tried to change the date to 20th of september but its still crashing. Anyone else got same problem? Also tried to unistall ja reinstall but it didnt help. Reset etc tried..

Looks like I need to wait for official release of 2.11.13..

Yeahh, the beta doesn't work anymore. :-\

Yep, 8.1 blocks the date trick on this.
 
It should be here in 1-2 days tops. Thats what I know... Maybe it changed but I think it will be very soon in the app store
 
So after using the beta and getting used to the optimized UI then going back to this blown up zoomed in mess is....painful :(
 
You would think that whatsapp now has a backing of FB developers to help them release their product updates on time.

Is this a project management issue or something else on their side? Hopefully, we see the release soon...
 
Nope. It is just owned by Facebook. For the moment it still functions as before...no Facebook intervention.

I think they're still completely separate from Facebook in that sense. I think we would get regular updates if Facebook fully took over which I don't know if it's good or bad thing.

I hope your sources are right. So it will be out by today and tomorrow right? Where are your sources from? Is the app already in Apple's hands? Once approved, will it be auto released or pushed back to developer to upload?
