When Facebook/Meta tells you messages are end to end encrypted and no one else can see them:

O.. sure... encrypted end-to-end... but who's on each end? Exactly!

Already? What’s whatsapp?

As you have shown that you don't know what it is, let me help you:

"Worldwide, WhatsApp is the most popular messaging service in over 100 countries. It has over two billion active users and is one of the few apps to be downloaded over five billion times."

Can’t wait for macOS to get back down to its normal size when they drop the universal binary version.
How much lighter are we talking about?
I had no idea that what we download is the same version an intel mac downloads.

Blows my mind how such a big company can write such a bad app. Whatsapp for Desktop is terrible resource hog

Installed it and it looks really great. Whatsapp is an integral part of business communication in my country, so this is really appreciated. I hope they also bring out the iPadOS beta soon.

Can't you download the iPhone version on the iPad?
No. Whatsapp iPhone app requires the phone function to be available, which is not available on cellular iPads. In contrast, cellular Android tablets have the phone function (yes, as silly as it sounds, you can make calls with them), thus Whatsapp has no problem being installed in these. I have Whatsapp installed on my Galaxy Tab S7FE.

Sorry you can't the app store does not allow it, well it is to different OSes so fair emugh, ok they might share a lot of code but as the names IOS and IpadOS indicate their developer considers them different products

Took them long enough.
WhatsApp seems to be the one app I use that consistently uses swap and while it’s not much, it’s irritating. Hopefully, this will fix that.

End-to-end is end-to-end. Meaning nobody in the middle can see the chats other than you and the other person. And now, even the Google backups can be encrypted (previously they are not). As much as I hate Meta/FB, I appreciate whatsapp for their efforts in implementing encryption.

I very rarely open WhatsApp on my M1 MBA as I've observed a noticeable drop in battery life when it's running. Saying that, it's not just WhatsApp - it's any Intel app - which we knew that emulating x86 apps had a performance hit.

I use it, then quit out of it until I need it again.

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are the only two Intel apps I have left. Everything is a Universal Binary.

All very jolly. I would settle for Apple/WhatsApp talking to each other so it's possible for iPhones to announce messages with Siri.

It's more due to Whatsapp app requiring a phone device, which is not available on the ipad.

The desktop app of Whatsapp is mostly just a WebView to web.whatsapp.com.
