This whole situation is beyond fustrating because i've been wanting an OLED iPad for YEARS. Hell i don't see why outside of budget devices LCD or its variations are still even used.

So based off the OLED Rumor alone, i want the 12.9 inch one badly and i suspect to pay more. I went with the 11 inch M2 Pro and i liked it, but it felt a bit cramped and said the next one is going to be the 12.9.

Hell the only reason i went with the 11inch last time was because my brother had the 12.9 inch and i coulden't stand the blooming on the screen. I found it very distracting.

So i sold the other ipad and ive been saving for months, fully expecting to have one by now based off of rumors and nope, delayed.

Hey it happens, fustrating but it does.

But whats even more fustrating is i got a ton of money (for me) saved up for the ipad, keyboard and pencil and i still dont know if i have enough and i wont know if and when until apple comes forward with dates and prices.

Its hard to budget for something when you dont know when it will be out and for how much.

Theirs also other things id like to own like an OLED Tv and VR Headset that i can go out today and buy, but im holding off until i know the price of the OLED Ipads.

Ideally id love to have everything OLED. Ipad, TV, Mac, but apple is so inconsistant sometimes with their product lineups.

I really hope sometime soon (within the next few years) i can buy me a nice OLED imac, next to my OLED Ipad, next to the current OLED Iphone pros.

But its an endless waiting game with apple, yet other companies like samsung have gone almost fully OLED for years now.

Hell how great would it be if i had a foldable OLED Iphone that worked as both tablet and phone when i needed. Samsung's got something like that. 2 devices in one.

Idk. Maybe its my OCD but i like unity across the entire product line. It still messes with me i can unlock my Iphone with FaceID but i still have to use TouchID to log into my Imac.

I suspect not. Possibly a new connection method. I don’t even think they’ll work with the new Airs - dimensions will match the Pros. They want to make sure you have to buy a new iPad.

There's no real reason to replace the data port on the back of iPads. I suspect that they will work. More accessories sold to more iPad models = profit.

Better question is whether the old keyboard will work with the new Pros. Or if they'll at least make a new polycarbonate case that matches the dimensions of the new Pros, as a cheaper alternative.

True, but not as much profit as more accessories + new iPads 📈

But people aren't going to do that, just for a cool new keyboard. Plus, Apple makes a lot more margin on accessories than iPads. You really think that current keyboard is worth $350?

Almost no accessory is ‘worth it’ - the margins are intentionally insane. I will say there’s a lot of impressive tech crammed into the current Magic Keyboard, though. It’s not as overpriced as people make it out to be.

I've joked about this a bit before, but in all seriousness I don't understand why Apple doesn't just announce the devices while there's at least a little mystery about them, even if they won't ship for a month. We don't know what colors they'll come in (probably boring ones only tbh but maybe we'll get a space black or -- dare I dream? -- a red), what the accessories look like, what that squeeze thing on the new Pencil is about nor where it attaches to the iPad or whether it's shorter. We don't know what the box art looks like.

The longer Apple waits, the more of this is going to leak out. For what? Just put the videos out and announce the pre-order date!

It would be perfect (or close to it) if it could pass data through the port too, not just power. Though I always wondered if it could do data, but they never activated it in software, for some reason.

That's not the "Apple Way." The Apple Way is to create wondering, followed by an announcement, followed by a mad scurrying for everyone to get that order in on a whim, with the clock ticking on whether you will get (insert product) in the first launch delivery window. If they gave you time to think about it, many might chicken out and not place an order.

My guess is that Apple doesn't really expect a huge exodus of iPad users flocking to android tablet alternatives, so there really is no rush in pre-announcing a product that won't be available for months.

In other words, Apple is content to make us wait because they know they can afford to make us wait. We aren't going anywhere!

I wonder if the new keyboard will work with earlier generations of iPads.
I wish it did. I have an M1 iPad Pro 12.9”. But frankly I doubt very much that the older iPads will be able to accommodate the new one.

If the new iPad’s newest Magic Keyboard did work with my M1 iPad, I’d just get the new keyboard for my M1 and call it a day.

Assuming there is not going to be an event for the new iPads, should we not expect something along the lines of how the MBA M3 was launched - press release on Monday 6th/Tuesday 7th May with orders open the same day for delivery/availability on Friday 10th?

This is what I think too -- we will most likely have to wait until we get iPadOS 17.5 RC, which the iPads will be flashed and shipped before it gets released to the public.
