I bought an M1 iPP 12.9 on release and ran it side-by-side with my A12Z iPP 12.9 for a few days.

I kept the A12Z and the blooming on the M1 was awful.
Blooming is sometimes awful i give you that, but everything else is so much better that i take blooming for granted.

This!

I’ve sold both of my iPP’s in preparation of the new models being released… based on the talk of March!

April I could deal with.

May has had me looking for a second-hand ‘stop gap’

June is just infuriating as it will likely then mean pre-orders a week or so after WWDC and delivery a week or two after pre-order, which puts it into July!
I sold my 11" M1 IPP based on rumors, too. Just recently purchased a used 12.9" Gen 6 (stiil under AppleCare+), because I tired of the seemingly endless wait. OTOH, I suspect the announcement will be made a week or so after it arrives at the house. I guess I have at least bought myself some time to read the evaluations of the new devices and OS.

I wish it were that easy. But it have been burned too many times (not to mention I also have kids entering college soon)...so unless it really does revolutionize in some key way (like running MacOS!!!), I can't justify it...

I mean, I had an M1 iPad Pro--which I sold for more than I got it (weird circumstance). But it literally did all the same things as my iPad Pro 2018...they were essentially the same, so what was the point?

Did you not appreciate double the RAM on the M1? I reckon that would make a real world difference using the device.

Not enough of a difference that I noticed. And it was a weird situation. I got it on a massive discount from Best Buy around Christmas (like $300 off, but it only had the lowest ssd space), and thus I could sell it on Swappa for more than I paid...so the combination of the two was too hard to pass up.

The Taiwan Earthquake isn't good for the release of the new iPads.
The good news is that the people living close to the places where TSMC has their fabs are safe. (TSMC's fabs are also safe and they're expecting to resume production overnight since the EUV machines weren't damaged, but I am, of course, more worried about Taiwan's population more than a manufacturer of chips).

Of course their well being and safety comes before anything that has to do with this release. Very kind of you to point this out :)

I doubt I'll upgrade my 12.9 6th gen. MiniLED = OLED without the burn in possibilities (though I doubt burn-in will be a problem for iPads, though you never know).

(then out comes my credit card the second the new iPads are announced) lol.

If you look at the registration of the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), last year:

A first set of devices was registered on August 16, either the Pros or the regular ones.
A second set of devices on August 25.

Announcement: September 12
Pre-orders: September 15
Availability: September 22

If we take into account these intervals and Apple's propensity to announce such devices on a Tuesday, I'd say:

A second pair of devices will be registered next week, and then:

Announcement: April 23
Pre-orders: April 26
Availability: May 4

... and this would also line up with Gurman's report :)

In the past, in 2020, 2 days after registration the iPad Pro 2020 was launched.

Registration: March 16, 2020
Launch: March 18, 2020

Maybe these two iPads will launch next week, and they are most likely iPad Air.
You’re right. Obvious press release launch. Pros to come in May (or later).

A second pair of devices has been spotted in the database of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Hence, the estimation here above seems quite likely.

still holding on to hope that the rumors are not true and these will be released in april
Given that Apple announced they will hold their Q2 earnings call on May 2 - I guarantee you that new iPads will be announced by then (most likely by April 30). Q1 iPad sales were down 25% and Q2 is likely to be worse and since Apple never comments on unreleased products on the call - it would be super awkward to discuss iPad sales unless can at least highlight newly announced iPads to change the downward sales cycle.

Given up. Got a super sweet deal on a 12.9 6th gen with magic keyboard. Need it now for a project and this one will still be perfect. I'm sure will have some iPad envy in a couple of weeks but now that the 6th gens are super good and reliable for what I need.
