If all you do is internet, email an watch YouTube videos, a four year old Mac mini would last you the next 4 years. Your 4 year old PC would as well, as long As you don't load it up with a bunch of malware.

No, my windows system is 7 yrs old and I've max'ed the memory out at 4 GB yet I'm really only getting 3.5 with itunes and norton running alone it's gettin slower. 7 yrs it's time for a new one but mac mini or another dell. Can't decide.

Had to rant: No back lighting and no number pad on the apple wireless keyboard is, well, stupid.

This logitech Mac keyboard have backlighting

For what you use it for - buy used or refurb 2.5 mini if you want to wait for the refresh somewhere around summer and maybe as late as fall. If you don't have a need for better graphics than the intel 4000 get a new 2012-13 mini and it will last many years. Moving from widows to mac OS is very easy. Reselling a mini is very easy. They hold there value very well. You won't need virus software any longer.

Thanks! The other thing I would like to see is sculpted keys, like the new Lenovo laptops. Flat keys = 1985 :)

I second this. The mini is so versatile that it will sell for a good price within a day or two if you list it on Amazon or Ebay.

I'm still in the same spot I was a month ago. I need to get a new PC mine is 7 yrs old windows XP. Do I get another windows PC or do I get a Mac Mini. I can't wait till Mar or Jul next yr.

I'd be new to Mac so I'm worried about transition from windows to Mac but I've had an iphone for 2 yrs. I want the Mac Mini with SSD, I only need for internet, email, photos and watching videos (youtube) will the current Mac Mini last me 4 yrs if I upgrade ram to 8 or 16 myself?
My mini is from 2009 and handles all of what you want easily as would any more recent model new or used. 8gb ram is ample for what you need. IMO One if the benefits of Apple is its very easy to stay current with software even with an older machine (up to a point obviously)

It's your call but learning how to use a Mac is pretty straight forward. I've been away (2007) from using a Mac up until this month when I bought a Mini. I got the Apple wireless keyboard and wireless trackpad. Honestly it's a pretty slick system. I got up to speed real quick cause i've used Linux the last few years. But Apple designs it's OS for ease of use. It's just slightly different to how Windows does things.

There's plenty of help here on the forums and there's plenty of how to's on the web.

I'm digging the Mac so much i'm tempted to buy a rMBP or a MBA. :)

When are the more up to date Minis coming?

The current top end Mini has the same specs as last years MBP which isn't worth to buy anymore unless you want to save money. IK mini was made to save money too by being cheap but can't we at least see some rMBP components such as Haswell/Crystalwell processors, etc come standart as well more ram and better graphics? HD can stay but on the basicest model it should increase to 750GB. It should also get bigger SSD's. This all MO only. What do anyone else want to see in the next mini

French stock running low today

Hello everybody,
I wanted to buy a Mac Mini i7 today in Paris : I was in one of the largest electronic chain (Fnac) and asked the seller for 1 MacMini but the had 0 in stock in the shop.
Then I asked the seller for an other shop with stock but none of them had stock in Paris and suburbs.
Then I asked to order one : no stock at the central buying service...
...I asked him if it looks like a new model will be released : he confirms
So I look at this forum and made this little movie : Mac Mini Haswell (But they do not have any MacMini i7 at the "Paris-Italie2"... unlike shown on theyr website)
Sound good ^^

I'm not convinced that we need a video to tell that 39 stores are out of stock! :) In Canada, FutureShop & Best buy have it in stock but less than 10 units. Some models are sold out completely. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new one with minor update.
