once there was a computer company , it was different from others, it had open standards, fantastic multimedia libraries and innovative user interface , Once the all-mighty God Jobs was gone, stupid shareholders transformed the company into an idiotic war ship against innovation, user-friendly experience, and no wasting Time solutions, and now it is a stupid web-shop :Internet-Consumer-online-sell-stupid-stuff-to-make-people-stupid, presenting trashy lifestyle in advertising ,
which will be as brain less as
Bang & Olufsen Nice design but no good technology expensive components but less compatibility ,
and this kind of design was expensive but never state of the art technology ...

Design does not follow function - apple design started to create stupid clicks and buttons to spent more time with gui - more touch - more mouse movements
- less result, outcome, output,yield,upshot

Apple destroys what NEXT-Inc. was build for.

I wish there was at least a cuda driver for k5000 and gtx680

or an unsigned beta kext with sip disabled for “kind of development “
at least for people who still want to render on gpu without internet
but Me I like to use Nvidia's rtx hardware under BSD with apple gui which is still better then microsoft or Linux ...

or is nvidia the lazy company which do not like to spend money on development of new drivers, but why rtx series has this
boot screen in mac pro ?

I'm starting to think that the boot screen in the rtx series cards was a way for Nvidia to try and get Apple's customers on their side to support their drivers. =)

please explain

I thought it was obvious... maybe I should have said "customers on Nvidia's side so Apple would support Nvidia's drivers." does that help?

All the classic mac pro users out there could upgrade their video cards and get 4k boot screens, easily use bootcamp and filevault... if Mac OS Mojave had drivers for them. I know I would have, but I got tired of waiting and finally just built a pc. Now my mac pro is collecting dust, but I don't want to part with it... I've had it for 10 years! =)

It's far more believable that Nvidia has simply realized it's not worth the time and money to develop Mac drivers for these cards. Nvidia's drivers have been signed in the past otherwise they'd have been blocked in High Sierra; that story from Nvidia was either misinterpreted or deceptive. Another alternate scenario: Apple wants Nvidia to be using Metal, while Nvidia has no little to no interest in doing so, and Apple is still sufficiently upset at Nvidia that they're not willing to assist.

Why would NVIDIA release an UGA driver in the RTX series and boot screen? What is the point if there is no Mojave driver?

well nvidia sign the driver but ...

who say they have all info to build metal2fullFeatureSetDRV or egpu drivers ...

  • nvidia says there will be no CUDA in mojave soon...
  • apple stopped OOTB nvidia drivers to work with cuda drv since HS 10.13,
  • 10.12 apple´s kepler nvidia driver work with nv macos cuda driver .
  • apple started blocking CUDA , openCL 2.0 AND openGL 4.5+Vulcan
  • fact 1
  • nvidia releases boot friendly RTX series for old mac pro ...
  • (now as far as we know its not 100% apple compatible it is generic efi uga instead of APPLE's UGA+)
  • fact2

  • apple wants ALL to use machine learning with metal API instead openCL 2.0 on own chip A11+
  • chip is in phones, tablets, laptops and DESKTOPs
  • fact3

  • Nvidia released Volta driver for HS 10.13.5 during mojave beta and pulled it back
  • fact5
give me more facts to believe in peacfully future PLEASE

mac pro 2017, rumors say it will be modular...
apple will not invent the wheel new..
http://www.storiesofapple.net/the-jonathan-computer.html

how to hope nvidia WITH CUDA will be a part of mac pro future ....
I pray to JOBS but he is to busy, they all sitting in apple ship without iGod ....

is renderman 23 at pixar using CUDA denoising ?

will ILM invest in apple hardware?

is RED only company to protest...

ps once again -

The Peninsula
Wrong.
nvidia just implemented generic efi uga, not mac-friendly apple's uga+[apple proprietary protocols] version. Hence you have many bugs with nvidia's common uga on macpro
Apple has seldom met an industry standard that it couldn't subvert into a proprietary version.

However, I will admit that coming out with Mini DisplayPort was suspicious at first -- but kudos to Apple for pushing it into the standard spec as an alternate connector.

not mac-friendly apple's uga+[apple proprietary protocols] version
that means it is not build for mac pro or it means they did not get UGA+ details to be mac pro friendly
why did they implemented this at all ...

please explain how compatible are these protocalls ...

UGAplus means
miniDiplayPort,USB-C Display-Target-Link,
FireWire/Thunderbold TargetDiskMode ?

NVIDIA made RTX GPUs compatible to the UGA protocol but not the Apple implementation of UGA, used with Mac Pro to have pre-boot configuration support.

NVIDIA did not intentionally made RTX GPU Mac Pro compatibles, they just supported UGA.

This implementation likely has more to do with broader compatibility for AI/machine learning application setups than anything Mac/MacPro/macOS specific.

Unless the "class action lawsuit" against Apple actually progresses (or moves past the info gathering stage), not sure we'll ever see official drivers released by NVIDIA for Mojave. There have been no official statements from NVIDIA and they will not confirm any of the leaked message screenshots as authentic. Nothing is forcing Apple to work with or implement drivers for vendors they choose not to support, for whatever reason. This "closed system" approach is what the lawsuit was originally going to focus on, but it will likely not hold up to legal challenges.
