When was the last time you were really excited about an Apple product and what was it? Seems more and more folks are buying to replace older items, not because they are truly excited about the new product. Sort of like a lot of "ho'hum, I need a new one" thinking rather than "oh hell yeah!"

It’s been a while. M1 MacBooks only good thing in the recent years. Apple Watch, iPads and watches have been rather meh.
I was a bit excited with the arrival of M1 for iPads and the promise of more "Pro" apps, but the result has been underwhelming (Stage Manager). My iPad Air is held back by this software and its a glorified note taking device.

I kind of want an iPad but every time I got one I returned it due to lack of use cases. For most pro cases I just actually prefer the feel of a laptop. For most entertainment/general browsing, prefer phones or watching it on a TV. I actually hate browsing the internet on iPads.

Regarding "oh hell yeah" feelings, that would be the AW Ultra.

However, I'm pretty excited about the 2022 11" iPP arriving Wednesday (perhaps iPhone X excitement level), as I'm upgrading from a 2017 iPP and have never held or seen in person an iPP designed after 2017 (even avoided looking at them at the Apple Store).

I don't care about phones an watches, so I can only be excited about iPads and Macs.
I was excited when a 12.9in iPad was annouced, especially to replace my paper sheet music. Plus the great speakers.
Also excited when they annouced the mini 5 after 4 years from the mini 4.
Also excited about Apple Silicon, got an M1 Mini, great device other than the bluetooth issues.
And then there are the product I was never excited about because of the crazy prices but that I started to love once I could get them for a much cheaper price on sale or used, like the 2018 11in iPad pro 1TB or the 2017 12in Macbook. And the 2018 12.9in too.

The original iPhones didn't get me all riled up cuz I couldn't afford them, but the 6S did with 3D Touch. Then it was really only the X and 12 Mini that I subsequently freaked out about.

Original iPad was a huge excitement. Still couldn't afford one back then.

M1 line of Macs really got me drooling.

But now I have a job and iPads are pointless so I just own a 12 Mini and M1 Air.

M1 iPad Pro not because of M1 (which I considered the same as A14X) but because it finally had decent amount of RAM (comparable to laptops now). Sufficient RAM was something I’ve always felt was long overdue.

Before that, I was pretty excited about the M1 MacBook Air. Finally a completely silent, fanless laptop with excellent battery life. Alas, I can’t quite make the switch from Windows to MacOS so that’s mostly collecting dust now and only gets used when I need to do backup/restore or to fix sorting on Safari iCloud bookmarks.

The iPad Mini 6. Before that the 7th gen iPod Nano, first gen iPad Mini, and iPhone 5S. So essentially 2012/13 Apple.

But beyond hardware, I was really happy when they bought Workflow and I'm happy they've been evolving Shortcuts and iOS software in general.

AirTags were great until my dog ate it a week later.
AirPods Max. Was happy for months
MagSafe was and remains a delight.
Phone feels a lot older than just a month so I will not include it.

The 2022 MacBook Air was one of the items got my excited even I didn't buy it for myself. It finally moved away from the original MacBook Air design and much thinner than the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

I was excited about the prospect of M1 in the iPad Pro (my mind speculated about macOS for iPad...)
I was excited about the M1 iMac – finally something bright, colourful and new. But also non-upgradable, non-repairable, and no USB-A still leaves me sad.

But being really excited? That goes back a long time. The first iPad was cool. I loved the release of new iPods. I think the last time I was truly excited about something new was when I got the brand new iMac G5 with iSight.

I get excited all the time about buying vintage Apple stuff, when they suddenly appear on Ebay. Fun times :)

I was very excited for these products:

- owned orange imac 2000
- owned silver door powermac G4
- MacBook Pro titanium (did not own)
- iPhone 4s (never owned, but WOW, always wanted one)
- first iPhone owned (5c)
- first iPhone 5s (owned)
- Apple Watch (owned hand me down series 0 Apple Watch, then the Apple Watch 6)
- iPhone 7 gold (owned)
- iPhone X (did not own)
- iPhone 11 Pro (owned)
- M1 macs/book (not yet owned, maybe one day)

- Most recently I have been absolutely in LOVE with this silver 14 pro. It is everything I want in an iPhone right now (design, storage, camera quality, ProMotion); all except it’s weight and size (but I can live with it since the 6.1” screen makes iOS more pleasant and typing easier, and the heft gives it a strange “this is worth it” kind of feeling)

But yeah… I’m usually very critical, but they really nailed this “S” version of the iPhone 12 design. They could release a different design next year, and I would probably love it too, but I’m very happy with this phone and really believe I could keep it a few years.

And lesson learned: taking a few years between iterations really makes the brand new tech noticeable and makes the purchase feel very much worth it.

The Ultra watch was good, but for me, it was 2019 and my maxed out Macbook Pro 16 - 64GB RAM, 8TB drive - it allowed me to house my entire video collection locally.

Opening up Studio Display this year; enjoy using it with m1 Air-they provide a silent computer experience while still providing the power I need for my use.

Getting the ipad pro 12.9 2018 and picking it up at Apple store on release day.

Ipad 3 retina. I forget if I went to the store for it or ordered it or how I got it, but loved using it.

Excited about M2 mini coming up soon, next year or two replace 7 series watch with an ultra or regular one that has an added sensor.

Guess gonna skip this M2 12.9 ipad and just wait for next one to replace 2018.
