I paid $350 for my Tab Pro 12.2 . I am still waiting for an Android upgrade, but at least I still get updates.

My MBP 2011 was "repaired" twice and when I had the battery replaced in December, I asked to check the GPU. In January it failed and Apple said I was SOL because they had no more parts left.
That's different than software support. If it still worked, you'd be able to run Sierra and High Sierra when it's released. Sucks that the hardware let you down, but 5+ years is still better than just about any warranty you'd be getting from ANY manufacturer.

The 12.2 Pro wasn't on the list of devices getting Nougat. So that means you're stuck, with a device from 2014, on Marshmallow. The initial iPad was released in 2010 and got the last update in 2012. The Tab 12.2 Pro was released in 2014 and MM was released in 2015.

How are you still getting updates? Did you load a ROM?

Sometime it gets something like a security update. The point was that it might not get more upgrades, but it did not cost $1000.

It is hardware with an engineering fault that was never properly addressed.

It was a gen one product. Yeah, it sucks. But you shouldn't judge Apple forever for it.

I think I can judge them for always skimping on RAM.

Okay. So you want a high end tablet with more than 4gb of RAM that doesn't run Windows and will be supported for five years. Well, we could have cut that off before the support issue.

If you need more than 4GB of RAM, it's running Windows.

I don't know how much RAM I need in a tablet now. The point is that the iPad 1 was the most extreme example of skimping on it.

Yeah, can't argue with that. But we live in 2017. And today, the only new 12" tablets run iOS or Windows. It sucks, but that's how it is. The Android tablet market basically died.

Amazon should make a 13" HDX.

Wow, the battery in my Note 3 partially detached the front panel.

You are good at buying those low support products it seems. :p
I bought the Fire Phone for testing for $100, already discontinued. I just got a browser update.

I got the Jolla late on sale for testing. I just updated it. Last time it was some months ago.

I bought the Note 3 secondhand to replace my Z10. I just updated the OS too.

The Passport looked very unique, so I got it when it dropped to half price, with the Note 3 relegated as Youtube and Harmony controller.

I remember my old 18 inch Galaxy view tablet...that thing was outdated software wise when I bought it......I think it was on lollipop and that has never changed till this very day. Large Android tablets over 10.5 inches are completely done.

Developers dont bother making apps for tablets on Android. This basically put the nail on the coffin and manufacturers stopped caring.

Well with Androids OS, the system would automatically scale any app to fit whatever screen the app was being run on so there was little need for developers to have a special tablet version.

Well someone should tell all of the Android devs that!

Except, then they’d learn that Android users don’t pay for apps, so there’s that.
