My Ringke Onyx arrived in the mail today. Here are my observations:
- The pictures that
@Hooterville shared are accurate. I noticed in the pictures that the Onyx was slightly taller than the Sheath, and I can confirm that is the case.
- The Onyx doesn't wrap around the screen as much as the Sheath. In fact, the stainless steel frame at the top can be seen, but the sides, bottom and corners are tucked in).
- The bottom lip of the Onyx is higher than the other sides. Each of the corners are raised higher than the sides of the case, but the bottom lip is the same height as the bottom two corners.
- The grip on the Onyx is better than the Sheath, especially the sides. The sides of the Onyx feels like the grooves that are on metal fingernail files.
- The buttons on the Onyx are on par with the Apple leather metal buttons.
- The cutout for the lightning cable is beyond brutal on my pinky finger. In fact, it feels like I'm pressing down really hard with one of those orange plastic razor blades.
If you're undecided between the Ringke Onyx and the Caudabe Sheath, I would personally still recommend the Caudabe Sheath. As for me, I will be going back to the black Apple leather case. To me, it has the best buttons and pinky comfort. I also mentioned earlier that my Apple leather case has better grip than the Caudabe Sheath. Well, it's even more grippy now because it feels like the material has started to melt. I read others mention this, and I can confirm that mine has started to do this as well.
