I got my Apple Leather case today. Baltic Blue is terrific! A great color that looks darker blue in artificial light but almost shines in sunlight. It's also a perfect color fit with the iPhone's pacific blue.

The fit is perfect - snug, phone holds perfectly in place (what you'd expect from an Apple case, right?). The case is quite thin - I have the impression it's thinner than previous models used to be. It protects the iPhone entirely. No more these bulky edges that used to get worn out or dirty very quickly. Buttons are snug and responsive without being loose. Lip is thin but just right to protect the screen.

The grip is quite comfortable. Feels a little slippery at first if like me you have very dry hands. But somehow that tends to get better with usage.

And... I get the MagSafe animation as well.

Verdict, I'm in love. Definitely my preferred case now with the Caudabe sheath!

I just can't understand how Apple could screw up their clear case so much. It's so different compared to leather and silicone cases, which are perfect.

Just doing some of the cases comparison. Apple and knock off.

Can you link to the case that you got off of Aliexpress? I like the semi translucent back that it has.

Received my Brand Grip about an hour ago for my iPhone 12 Pro. First impressions: fit is very snug, the sides are even grippier than last years version. It has a more rugged texture on the band that goes around the sides of the phone. Buttons are very tactile.

Got mine as well today. Your impressions are the same as mine! It’s a good case. Did you get a skin for the back? The D Brand grip is the most grippy case I have ever used.

My Plum silicon case for the Mini arrived today and I love the colour and how it feels. Might not bother with a leather one this year after all.

Can you post a couple pictures of it on the phone? Are the sides high or low on the glass?

I'll try to post pictures of it on my phone when I get a chance. The case's side edges are contoured. The top and bottom of the case has sides that are raised higher than the glass (and I use a glass screen protector). The middle of the case's sides are tapered down for easier swiping. They are almost flush with my glass screen protector.

I almost bought one of these for my 11 Pro last year but held off because I knew it'd eventually be relegated to the bedside drawer with the rest of them when I decided I like my phone better without a case.

Care to share photos?

I'll try to post photos when I get a chance. I don't have a separate camera with me currently.

Nice!! I didn't get a skin for the back. Did you? I like the all black, minimal look of the plain case.

I also received my saddle brown apple leather case for my iPhone 12 Pro today. Obviously the fit is perfection. Buttons are like pressing the real thing. The leather feels different this year. Not sure what it is. Still appears to be of good quality IMO. Doesn't have the strong leather smell that the Nomad Rugged case has. The Apple leather case definitely won't have as good of drop protection as the Nomad Rugged, but feels better in hand than the Nomad Rugged (less bulk).

Spigen Liquid Crystal is fine—some sharpish seams here and there, and it scratched somehow, but whatever. $12 and will protect somewhat. The bottom cutout is rougher than I like on my pinky, but again—$12. It’s extremely fine.

Apple leather case in Saddle Brown just arrived. It’s gorgeous—MUCH easier for me to hold the phone vs. naked. The bottom cutout is similarly rough on my pinky—I know it’s contentious but I really did find the old open-bottom more comfortable. I think the plastic rim around the camera bump is a TOTAL bust—as the leather patinas the plastic ring will stay light and I expect it to increasingly contrast with the darker leather.

I have tried 3 cases for my 12 pro:
  • Pitaka Air
    • Enjoy the grip and how it exposes some parts of the stainless steel
    • Dislike that there's no lip to prevent issues when putting the phone face down, so I have a screen protector
    • Have a small part of the case already breaking - there's a small bump
    • Going to return based upon this
  • Bare Clear case (onyx)
    • Super light, fits great
    • Has a small lip to protect the screen which I like
    • Only con is that if my hand gets oily, it gets a little slippery
    • Overall very happy with this. Also shipped quickly.
  • Apple leather case
    • What I expected from Apple - great quality, fit, etc.
    • DIslike that the bottom is now covered, it adds some additional bulk and weight
    • Also dislike the weight - adds about 25 grams whereas the other above are less than 10 grams
Probably will try the Apple leather for a bit and return if the weight is an issue, and stick with the Bare.

Do you really notice 15g difference?

just wondering which is better leather case for iphone. nomad or apple leather?
Well, they’re two totally different cases in my opinion. The Apple case is elegant, finished and beautiful. The Nomad is a good protective case with a “rugged” design with tpe bumpers encased in Horween leather. They’re both priced about the same; it comes down to what you prefer. I have both. While I love the look of Apple’s leather case, I can’t seem to get away from Nomad’s rugged natural case. The natural leather is already starting to take on some patina only after a weeks worth of use. I have my issues with my Apple case, but they’re subjective at this point. Just like I can’t stray from the Nomad case this year, I can’t seem to bring myself to return the Apple case either. So, looks like I’ll be swapping cases every so often.

If you can, buy both, try each out for a couple of days each, then make a final decision.

That’s what I’m going to be doing, but I have a feeling I won’t be able to bring myself to return one of them either.

I’m a person who treats phone cases as part of fashion, and gets multiple to swap out, this year I’m going simple and got 4 cases to start.

Caudabe Lucid Clear - to show off the new phone. I sometimes just want a basic clear case to use.

Apple Leather Case (Baltic Blue) - I love the blue used for this case and it looks so nice with my gold pro. Classic case.

Elago Liquid Silicone Case (Pink) - I always get a pink case of some sort and this year I went with elago’s silicone case. It’s cute.

Casetify Impact Case (clear / white sides) - I never had a Casetify because it was too expensive but I got it since I had some spare money I received from my wireless carrier, and this is the case of my dreams, I love the sporty camera edge designs and the grippy borders of the case. This and the Apple leather case are what will be my main cases.

For now I’m using the Apple leather case, it just arrived in mail today.

I also like to use my phone naked when the fancy strikes... but I always put a case on when I go outside. I do have AC+ but the phone is slippery and I’d rather avoid avoidable mistakes even if I’m covered.

I got the Sheldon leather flip case today. Nice for the price but wayyy to thick! Anyone know of a thin flip case? I've just always had them, saves on scratches while in the pocket

I have to admit that the Apple leather is pretty nice. Iphone 5 version with improved buttons vs that one. I am one that hated the open bottom.

Not my daily driver for sure but on easy going days.

I don’t think I would have spent the $60 but at $44 with my employer discount it worked
