Out and about with frosty...nothing for me is beating this case at the moment

Like many here, I've also been a huge Caudabe buyer for many years. One thing that's bothered me more this year than I thought it would, aside from the button issues, is the price. They've obviously increased the price a bit (I'm aware that coupon codes generally exist for them, but still, the principle of it) over time. At this point, we are still looking at a basic TPU/Poly blend case (Sheath) with a liner and MagSafe for $40. When you make that jump to the $49 mark, cases improve in quality and features. I wish the Sheath was priced at $35 or even $30.

I've never used the Phone Rebel cases, but I have always been aware of them. I decided to try them out about a week ago after feeling indifferent about the Sheath for a bunch of weeks. This case is phenomenal. If anything, I'd make it slightly more minimal. But it's surprising that there's only a $10 difference.
Couldn't agree more. I think Caudabe needs to reduce prices moving forward, they're not expensive, but for what they are, they could definitely be offered for a lot less.

Side note; Which phone rebel case did you try? I'll admit I'm not a big fan of the weight, and hope it doesn't add too much bulk to the phone, but I'm considering trying one.

Just the normal Rebel Gen 5 (Non-frosted). Weight and bulk has been a zero factor so far. In fact, I don't notice any more bulk/weight than I did with the Sheath. The pinky comfort and ability to swipe up/down/left/right with ease due to its design has almost made it a game changer to me.

I posted about it this before and there was not much response.

You take a brand like Schpeegen and their cases are $20’ish. I find the quality to be what I’m paying for. I think the dynamics of drop protection can cause a price to be higher. Schpeegen offers the minimum military grade drop protection of 4 ft. I’m sure if they wanted to offer more drop protection it would cost more because you have to put more into it.

Caudabe offers 6 ft drop protection which is more than 4 ft which I would expect to pay more.

So if Caudabe offers more protection of 2 ft then I would say Caudabe are $30 cases including shipping.

The Frosty is 2x as much as the Schpeegen Ultra Hybrid which experiencing both I would say they are both priced right.

I’ve experienced the Mous 5.0 and no way it’s a $50+ case more like $40.

IMO the cost of a case is relative to the protection it provides.

Bandwerks classic case came in. I’ll update with my thoughts in a few days. First impressions. Loooooove how this leather feel. And love how the phone looks from the front. Reminds me of the iPhone 4 where the metal bumpter stuck out. As I feared the case does make the phone quite a bit more wide than I liked. But as a plus this case is a lot thinner than I expected. It’s on par with the Andar for thickness. Looks damn good tho. Will definitely rock it for party’s or weddings lol. Might order the black too. Presentation is top notch, it comes in a wooden box with a high quality screw driver and little slip in soft touch bag things for the case and screw driver. Also has extra screws.

I just got a gray synthesis a couple weeks ago and months ago they mentioned they’d work on that issue and have it completely revised by November and the MagSafe magnets inside the case are solid. I’ve popped out the case multiple times. So definitely seems fixed as they said it would be. That was my only issue with the synthesis now I absolutely love it

They mentioned when I got my replacement that an updated version was coming. This is my second synthesis where the magnet came out. Hope they can send a revised version.

100% agree with you. I'm not a fan of mous and it's pricing. I avoid at all costs due to such.

They definitely will. Caudabe stands behind their warranty and replacements. The one I have is solid.

I’ve already emailed them about getting replacement sheaths a couple days ago due to the MagSafe indentation and Tee confirming they’ve come out with revised versions confirms I emailed them right on time. Haven’t heard back, they are slow at responding but once they do problem solved every time at least in my experience.

Good to know. MagSafe indentation aka condom ring 😂

SWEET - I need 1 o_O

How long did it take to receive after ordering?

My Sheath replacement is arriving on Monday... a black one instead of the gray since Caudabe offered to send out another color immediately if I didn't want to wait for the gray backlog. I'm hoping it's a revised version... 🤞
🤞

Should I wait if I want the Sheath in gray?

The Sheath in gray for the pro is available 👌
Ah gotcha! I was exclusively looking at the pro max since I wrongly assumed that's the phone you had, so my bad. I would wait until there's some sort of confirmation of the revised cases being sent out.

The Caudabe site says the gray sheath is backordered until late December, I can't imagine they'd send an old version of the case once it finally ships out.
With the demand they are experiencing they may not even have any "old inventory" to ship.

If the black one that I'm receiving has the same issue then I'll request another replacement as they have acknowledged the problem once already. And if they have, in fact, revised the design then that's further proof that they are experiencing negative feedback on the original version.

Just slapped on the new Sheath, MagSafe is much stronger and picks up my base, buttons are much more tactile (you can actually hear the click). Cases look exactly the same.
V3 of the Sheath? Geez. I’d expect another SORRY30 code, if nothing else. Feel like customers were Quality Control this year. I like Caudabe, but don’t feel great being their beta tester.

Hopefully case manufacturers learned something from this year…better to do it right once than be “first” out of the gate.

Couldn't agree more. Caudabe has been a mess this year. Screw the 30% off code, at this point they should be sending out a 50% off code.
