I've got questions about MagSafe chargers. I'm posting these questions in this 'cases' thread because MagSafe and cases -- they go hand in hand. Plesae help?
In brief: Is there such thing as a 'strong' MagSafe charger? In particular a charger that's 'stronger' than Apple's? If so then would you please provide some names/links?
Here's the backstory: I like 'rugged' cases. I've been searching for one that's protective (like Otterbox Defender Series Pro) but also pocketable (unlike Otterbox DSP). Last week I received Rokform case. And I like it -- a lot! Rokform is known for having very strong magnets. Rokform case has superstrong MagSafe ring along with superstrong bottom plate and also an optional third magnet that can be placed on the interior of the MagSafe circle. [In order for wireless charging and Rokform case to coexist, this third magnet must not be in place.]
There's reviews on Amazon that say Rokform has flaky MagSafe charging. Specifically: The flow of electricity (or whatever it's called) doesn't stick. The battery icon flashes because the electrical connection keeps going in and out... I assumed that this is because of the strength of the magnets. But in a couple reviews the authors write that it's because of the thickness of the case itself. They say that they contacted Rokform and that Rokform says to use Rokform's own wireless charger (which, I think, is not a MagSafe type of charger?).
I'd be happy to buy the Rokform charger but it's not buyable on Amazon and it's not buyable on Rokform's own site even.
So now I'm wondering whether or not there's a 'stronger than average' MagSafe charger out there? Do all MagSafe chargers support the same maximum case-thickness that Apple's charger supports? Help, please!
