Are you talking about the 'MagSafe FRWD' case?

I actually love it!!! 🤣 Just ordered it in 'solstice' colour. To my tastes it looks bang on!

For anyone who's not seen it I've attached some pics.
Yeah, that's the one I'm talking about. It's just not my cup of tea personally, it looks like cheap plastic to me, and bulky, but if you like it, that's all that matters! 😄 Let me know how you like it when you get it in!

You've never bought or even tried an Apple silicone case before, considering they have been out, like, forever? 😀
Yes I have in the past. Reason I didn’t keep for long was because at those periods I needed a rugged case. Now I don’t.

I had the blue one but sent it back. Felt a little thick in the hand but didn’t leave it on long enough because I wasn’t a fan of the color. Felt kinda soft-touchish
I like it so much because of how slim it feels in my hands. I think the rounded edges help a ton with this. The case is very soft touch, a bit susceptible to finger prints, but they aren't as noticeable as with an Aramid case because of how bight/light the silver is.

I think a lot of people will find it too slick, especially those who like very textured grippy cases, but this one seems to be gripping up in a similar way to how the Enzo Aramid does. One evening and a few hours today and it's already better than it was straight out of the box. This is never going to be a grippy case, but if you are fine with the grip level of the Enzo Aramid I think the Style Armor will be acceptable.

Just ordered the same for myself, don't want to judge a case just by looking at pictures of it. Going to try out out for myself since is something different by them.

^Proof of the darker colors ability to pick up and display lint, even on the black ti camera module below:

The lighter color "Stone" Elago silicone case hides it better, although it's still a lint magnet.

💯

If I decide to get another a silicone case, it’s gonna be Winter Blue, which is one of the lighter colors they offer.

Apple specs a maximum of 2mm back thickness for MagSafe cases, with the average on the market being 1.8mm. This assumes no metal parts near the charging coil, which can further degrade connectivity. I suspect the Rokform, like some of the UAG cases, doesn’t adhere to these specs. I tried at least a half dozen MS chargers on a non-compliant UAG case and there was no discernible difference between any of them (none worked properly). I suspect you’ll find the same with the Rokform. Have you considered thinner—yet still highly protective—cases such as the Phone Rebel Gen 5 or Mous Limitless 5.0?
Thank you for this nice explainer. It's really helpful for me to hear this all!

I do have the Mous case. I've got it in use right now, in fact! The last time I went to select a case is back in iPhone XS days. I remember thinking, back then, that Mous has a bad reputation -- I saw a lot of photos of cracked back surfaces. I guess this image sticks in my mind.

Here's a question: Why does the MagSafe charging work some of the day but not all of time? Is it a matter of me positioning the MagSafe puck just right? Or is it an artefact of something else, such as moment-to-moment fluctions in the flow of my electricity?

Phone Rebel full natural titanium set on the aramid fiber Gen 5 case o_O Doesn't thrill me that much

You’re welcome. ☺️

Mous removed the microfiber lining from the Limitless 4.0 which led to a rash of broken glass backs. They brought it back for version 5 which seems to have solved the problem. Both the Limitless and Phone Rebel have been subjected to extreme drop testing, so under normal use I’d expect very good protection (it’s never 100% guaranteed).

It’s hard to say why the MagSafe is intermittent. I suppose it’s a bit like a loose light bulb where the connection is hovering on the edge of providing just enough or too little current.

Yes, and IMO it still is. 1mm difference is very close to no difference and is probably mostly accounted for in the slightly higher lip on the Sheath. The main difference is in weight and surface texture.
Ok 1.2mm is very close to no difference but another aspect is form of the case. IMO the silicone is closer to the form of the iPhone.
