The Ghost? Isn’t that a scratch magnet?
Yep, the ghost.

You’ve been around here long enough to know about the ghost and the apparent “scratch gate.” It’s SO overblown. The case ages like fine wine. Not that I really care, but I’ll get an updated one for free in April or so.

Yea but the ghost isn’t talked about here. What’s the updated one suppose to be?

Sure it has.

Per dbrand:

“We're currently working on a more scratch-resistant version of the Ghost Case, with an expected ship date of April.”

Are the aluminum buttons just as tactile as the stock buttons? (Not mushy like the titanium buttons) Undecided if I want black or silver buttons

I mean the stock buttons are the same machined buttons as the colored kits. I tried there matte silver and did not like the look.

Sure it has.

I hope they do more refinements than just the scratch resistant back plate

I really liked the look of the natural titanium buttons, bummed they don’t work well without some DIY. The silver is a bit brighter, I’m thinking I’ll go matte black. Thx

What other refinements do you want? The case f*cks as it is 🙌

I did not like the buttons and hope they raise them higher just a touch...the side material seemed a little janky when I has some time with the case. Honestly not much refinements, it was a banger of a case.

Yea I don't know why/how the natty buttons do not work well on both crystal cases. For me, the natty buttons will stay on the aramid gen5

The Sheath was my #1 prior to adding MagSafe. Now the C-ring takes it out of rotation. That and the lack of floating buttons.
Wow the Sheath was actually your #1? Has this always been problem since MagSafe or just for the 15 series?

I was a Caudabe fan way back when they first started, used the Sheath as my primary case for at least a couple of years before moving on to other cases. Other cases have improved while I feel like the Sheath has actually gotten worse, or at least not kept up with the competition. It needs to be lighter, with floating buttons, and smooth on the back (no MagSafe indent).

I’m pretty sure the c-ring issue is unique to this year since adding the lining.

As far as floating buttons I’m good with the buttons right now. Not sure if floating buttons would bring up the price. With discounts the Sheath is at around $35’ish including shipping.

Lighter? The Apple silicone is 28 grams while the Sheath is 40grams. Yes a big difference in weight as I had the sily.

Some have said that protection wise they are almost the same. I don’t think so.

When I contacted Apple support they said they minimum military protection which is 4 ft. The Sheath is 6.6ft. So there is a difference. 6.6ft would be chest height for most.

Now does that extra 2ft vs the sily justify the weight of the Sheath? Well it depends on the individual.

Ok you might say “there are other cases that are the same weight as the Sheath and offer more drop protection.” True but depends on the individual. Trust me I’ve tried a sh*t ton of cases that weighed about the same as the Sheath. And for me running it I don’t say to myself “sh*t this is heavy”.

You might ask “then why the Sheath then?”. Because it checks most of the boxes for me vs all the other cases I tried.

I personally think the c ring is overblown. Not to condemn anyone. I have one on my gray Sheath and doesn’t bother me even a little bit. But yea Caudabe should find a fix for it for those that are OCD about it.

Edit what I mean by chest height is most people chest to floor is about 4 ft’ish. The Sheath covers that 4 ft if you’re walking or standing up and drop your phone. Now if you drop it off a ledge or something different story.

That’s some Sheath dedication right there.

The c ring should bring back memories for many 😉

Yep I’ve thought about this one but it’s as you said, only two colors & they don’t appeal to me. I like the color options they have for their Thin Fit case
I was looking for a case that is red, yellow or orange but has a black rim around the camera flash

My natty buttons are getting kind of dull looking after using them for only a few days.
They mentioned the lense doing this which I’m kinda sad about. I love the polished look. But they didn’t mention the buttons. Kinda a bummer. But they still look better than the silver. Something about the silver buttons makes them look cheap

I’d happily pay more for a Sheath with excellent metal buttons.

The 15PM Sheath is 47 grams vs the Pitaka Pro at 40 grams. The Pitaka is stiffer, with a more precise fit, and also has air pockets around the perimeter, which appears to make it more protective than the Sheath, regardless of the claims made by the manufacturers, which should always be taken with a big dose of salt.

Some have said that protection wise they are almost the same. I don’t think so.

I believe it’s unwise to take these drop tests at face value. How many times were the phones dropped, at what angles, on which surfaces, how many resulted in damage, how did they define damage, and so on. The claimed difference between a 4’ and 6.6’ drop test is meaningless really.

To me, the Sheath’s killer feature is the surface texture, which some love and others hate. I like that it’s essentially fingerprint-free and provides a good amount of grip, but not so much that it causes other problems. My ideal case would be the Pitaka Pro with its near perfect fit, camera surround, buttons, and weight, combined with the surface texture of the Sheath. I’d happily pay top dollar for that case and that would be the last you’d hear from me on this thread. 😊
