To me, the Sheath’s killer feature is the surface texture, which some love and others hate. I like that it’s essentially fingerprint-free and provides a good amount of grip, but not so much that it causes other problems.
Yeah, the texture of the Sheath f*cks! It took me a while to warm up to the texture. Something about it and hard to explain.

I’d happily pay more for a Sheath with excellent metal buttons.

The 15PM Sheath is 47 grams vs the Pitaka Pro at 40 grams. The Pitaka is stiffer, with a more precise fit, and also has air pockets around the perimeter, which appears to make it more protective than the Sheath, regardless of the claims made by the manufacturers, which should always be taken with a big dose of salt.

I believe it’s unwise to take these drop tests at face value. How many times were the phones dropped, at what angles, on which surfaces, how many resulted in damage, how did they define damage, and so on. The claimed difference between a 4’ and 6.6’ drop test is meaningless really.

To me, the Sheath’s killer feature is the surface texture, which some love and others hate. I like that it’s essentially fingerprint-free and provides a good amount of grip, but not so much that it causes other problems. My ideal case would be the Pitaka Pro with its near perfect fit, camera surround, buttons, and weight, combined with the surface texture of the Sheath. I’d happily pay top dollar for that case and that would be the last you’d hear from me on this thread. 😊

Problem for you is wanting the Pitaka pro with the surface texture of the Sheath most likely will add weight. It’s the trade off with the materials.

The Sheath a little lighter and thinner depth would be 10/10.
Apple Silicone is my benchmark. Here are specs of sily and sheath.

Apple silicone
Without phone installed
149.5
73.7
11.2
28g
With phone installed
150.3
74.2
11.2

Sheath
Without phone installed
149.6
73.6
12.1
40g

With phone installed
150.3
74.4
12.1

As you can see the Sheath isn’t too far in dimensions when phone is installed to the sily. The sheath could be closer in depth if there was no liner. Yes weighs more but that’s a trade off for materials.

If I liked silicone better I would be running the sily. If I liked Aramid better I would be running the Pitaka pro.

Yeah, sucks for me… lol. Some of the thinner Pitaka models seem to have more surface texture, which would be great. Not sure why they didn’t do that on the Pro, perhaps it reduces the protection level.

Is the PR crystal the same material as the frosty or different?

No issue so far with Amazon returns. Yes, I’m keeping the crystal for sure though I am hoping to hear that at least the aluminum buttons work well with it. Haven’t tried the tape trick with the titanium buttons yet
Hey question what did you put as your reason for returning the frosty?

For the first one I put arrived damaged/defective. For the one they sent as a replacement which I ended up returning, I put No longer needed
Ok thanks i am thinking about returning it on Amazon and waiting for the crystal to come out on amazon. Still deciding if i like it. But dont want to worry about the frost always coming off everything i take out or put on.
