Which case will you be getting for your new XS/XS Max? [MERGED]

I think the reign of the Sheath may be challenged here shortly. 2 problems.

1. Does anyone else find that the Sheath’s texture is rough on the hands?

2. The most efficient way to floss and brush my daughter’s teeth is to let her watch YouTube kids. Well...my poor girl has dropped the phone on her face several times now. What’s the best way to stop #PhoneFace ? A loopy! Wow marketing really works on me. Lol. My biggest issue with the loopy for the 7 plus was that it wouldn’t sit flat so when Apple introduced Qi I knew that I couldn’t use wireless charging. With the max I only use a wireless charger at night so it’s not really that big of a deal. I think I’m going to order a black case with a red loop! Go Dawgs this weekend!

Edit: these cases are way over priced. I’m going to buy one anyway though. Hopefully I can find a discount code from mobile reviews eh or something.

That’s not a half bad idea actually! Not sure how I feel about those though. I’ve never used one on my cases. They don’t seem very comfortable to hold like a silicone loop. What do you think?

I’m fine with the texture of the Caudabe Sheath. A bit more rough than I was expecting.

I’ve also never used pop sockets but finally ordered one and am waiting for it... Before, I wasn’t sure I can find a position that I’d like.

I did watch a few YouTube videos comparing and contrasting between the loop vs pop socket.

Loopy Cases had a Black Friday deal for 20% one case.

I got Loopy Case Max today. Kinda have mixed feelings about it...but I haven’t spent a lot of time with it yet. It does feel very secure in the hands. I’ve gotten used to the “one handed shuffle” (from the 6 Plus days), so it’s actually harder for me to do this with my finger in the loop. The Max version doesn’t feel heavy to me and seems reasonably protective. There’s honey comb pattern inside. The lip is plenty high to me, even with screen protector on. The buttons are fine. The top 2/3 of the side feels rubbery and grippy. But the bottom is slick, slippery plastic..which I’m not liking. I suppose the slippery plastic doesn’t matter in terms of grip since when my finger is in the loop, there’s no chance if the phone slipping out. I also did receive the right hand version, but I usually hold the phone in the left hand. For now, I do have some buyers remorse about the Loopy Case, since it’s not cheap..but I’ll spend more time with it to see the benefit.

UGH... my replacement Sheath for XS came today (after 9 days in transit): they sent me another one with the symmetric cutouts! sigh... this has been a long saga and i waited for several weeks for them to get the new version in, and yet when they finally have them available, they ship me an old one.

i hope they can make this right (what a waste of time and shipping costs on their part)

I just got the sena dean leather case and it’s very nice, equal or better than the apple leather. It’s a darker color than the apple saddle brown case and the leather is more textured and has a nicer, softer and more gripping feel to it. I am undecided whether im going to keep my apple leather case or return it but I’m definitely keeping this sena.

So far the only protective case I’ve kept is the solidsuit. I don’t take it off every day, more like every week or so. Nothing else has buttons as good with the fit like it does, zero sag or flex at any part of it. Sorry I sound like I work for them, I m just surprised they aren’t more popular.

Thanks for those pictures. Bought the Sena DEEN Saddle leather case for my XR. Backordered for now. Also read a few negative comments about them on Amazon. Wondering whether to cancel my order. How is it holding up for you? Fit, buttons and Leather quality are OK?

I’ve noticed many cases barely have any front lip. I wonder if case manufacturers take this into account.

Most cases have no where near adequate amount of front lip, it's one of the reasons I go with the Defender, it has the deepest lip of any case I've seen.

Lifeproof Fre cases have always sucked and this one will be no difference.

I will never buy another Fre case as long as I live.

The grainy plastic screen just ruins the phones display.

Like Blaine said about the oil slicks/rainbows are also a bunch of fun.

I've used many of Fre cases with tempered glass still installed on the phone without any problems. The only problems are the grainy, oil slick ridden troubles the Fre's built in screen causes.

I didn't understand why so many people I were using the PopSocket, even celebrities (I think they look so ugly, and I consider them like belt holsters that people used for their flip phones), but my coworker had one on her phone, so I played around with her phone for a bit, and I have to admit it's actually pretty comfortable and nice to have. I was surprised at how natural it felt. That being said, I don't think I can ever use one. I like my phones to lay flat; no camera hump and no PopSockets. (I don't understand people that complain about the camera hump but get PopSockets.)

You might want to check out Five Below. My boss got a case from there that has the loop but it slides back into the case so it lays flat. It also has a kickstand.

i heard back this morning (probably helps that i've had a very long ongoing discussion with them over the past several weeks). they are going to be shipping me another one with the correct cutouts promptly.

Oh, I have too as well. My thread with Caudabe is pretty long since I ordered a Sheath, got the wrong one, then got the wrong one again, and ordered a Synthesis, etc.

I originally ordered a Blue Sheath. When they got the new ones in, they said Blue would be a few more weeks minimum, so I settled for a Black one. But when I got the black one it was still the old one. If I knew I couldn't quickly get a new black one, I would have just held out for the Blue.

Obviously this isn't a 1st world problem, but between this and dealing with the Motor Vehicle Division this week I've had enough of this kind of fun...

On the bright side, the Synthesis seems to be a pretty good case. Since its not see-thru, I would prefer a slight texture on the back. It would be less slick and look better (hide the micro scratches that it came with, and the shiny spots). This is a nit-pick though. The synthesis has a solid feel, and should provide 6 foot drop protection from most angles, without adding a lot of bulk.

I'm thinking about going back to the Apple leather myself. I miss the feel of a leather case and especially the beautiful forest green (I watched a video of someone unboxing the Sony Xperia XZ3 in forest green and it made me miss the color even more). The Burkley leather case I ordered is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so I'll post pictures. Some of the images I've seen online show a camera cutout that's bigger than the camera and some don't, so I don't know what to expect.

Here's the best pic I can get. I could not get one straight on as the glare was so bad.

I don't see any bulge near the power button on the one I have.

i'm glad to hear your comments on the Synthesis. i should have mine in a couple of days.

i share in your frustration with the Sheath fiasco. yet, they are going to make it right, and it's costing them a lot to do so (giving me 3 cases and all the shipping...they also are giving a small discount/refund on the original Sheath i purchased for all the hassles i've had. mistakes happen, so i'm trying to be gracious. as you said...1st world problem, so i'm trying to not worry about it and look forward to my Synthesis)
