Well, the switcheasy is going back. It wasn’t bad but there’s no lip in the front. Less even than on the sheath. Also there’s a million fingerprints on the back. I’ve finally accepted that I just don’t like clear cases. I want to like them, and brand new they are great but the second you pick it up it’s just not good.

So of all the many cases I’ve tried the only 3 I really like and use are the apple leather, the solidsuit, and the sheath. Still waiting on the mini Vader and I’m done.....(for now)

I'm using the Sheath on my XS Max and it love it. I have dropped it just once, although it wasn't a big one, it protected the phone just fine. It's by far one of the better cases I've had on an IPhone. I can tell because I haven't taken it off for something else yet. lol
I keep rotating between this and the Spigen liquid air. I have been using the Spigen more frequently. My 2 go to cases right now.

I actually like them but my XR doesn’t have the weird asymmetrical design
You sound like you look at the bottom of the phone all the time. I couldn't care less that it's asymmetrical and kinda dig that look. It's not boring. The cutouts for the X make the Xs looks weird IMO, I don't know why 99% of the cases still use X's design on the bottom.

Is there anyone here who uses a clear case and if so which one?

I have use the Totallee Clear Case for my XS. It is thin, light, pretty grippy, and has true XS cutouts. I use this case the most often so far. The case will obviously protect against scratches and falls onto carpet, but not much drop protection beyond that. For my use that's good enough for me most days. If you want a thin, light, comfortable case though, its a great choice.

I’ve noticed many cases barely have any front lip. I wonder if case manufacturers take this into account.

I was using the Ringke Fusion clear one since launch of my XR. Originally it was meant to be my temporary case until I find the "one". In some ways, its still almost a perfect case for me. The case feels thick enough to withstand some drops from moderate height (3-4 feet..but I haven't tested this). It has the standard corner "air pockets" for corner drop protection. The lips extend high enough above my tempered glass, and actually has slightly taller top and bottom lips. There's the "feet" in the corner so the back won't touch whatever surface its on. The sides are reasonably grippy, especially when my hands are dry. If the sides had ridges to help with grip, I'd probably be done with looking for cases.

While I love my Caudabe Sheath, I still also really like my Ringke Fusion too. The Sheath generally feels like it has more grip than my Ringke Fusion and feels much slimmer. But the lip of the Sheath is much shorter than my Fusion. The 2 positive reasons I'm mainly using the Sheath..right now.. But the glass back of the XR (I had the 6 plus previously) is making me thinking about switching back to my Fusion (or another thicker case).

i'm guessing its a sort of compromise of trying to keep things thin. i think that because some of us are using a glass screen protector, what was a small lip has become a small or non-existent one.

my guess is that without a screen protector, the Sheath is probably 0.5mm deep...but with a 0.33mm protector, this falls to 0.17mm. (i'm totally guessing numbers but i know my remaining gap is something less than 0.25mm since i have another glass protector of that thickness that is thicker than my remaining lip with the 0.33mm protector.

Makes sense.

I just got the XS Sysnthesis case last night so these are first impressions.
- The camera cutout looks correct.
- The speaker cutouts are for the X.
- i have the iCarez 2.5D screen protector. .33mm and the edge to edge is good without and case screen conflicts.
- The lip on the Synthesis is the minutest bit taller than the Sheath. This is great for scrolling and general use. Obviously it isnt going to be the best if you drop the phone on its corner. This case is for moderate protection.
- The case gives the phone a solid feel. It is slighlty thicker than the sheath, but it doesnt make the -hone feel like a brick. Overall, this seems like a good light moderate protection case.
- The back is smooth. While it feels a little slick, when your finger get to the edges there is grip. So far, i’m not concerned that the back will make me drop my phone.
- the back has slightly raised bumpers.. They are very small but will keep the camera off a flat surface.
- The back is smooth and black. It does seem to show some shiny spots despite being new. Not a big deal, but when you look at it the light, the back surface isnt all the same.

Here are a few pictures. Sorry for that they arent the greatest. I had to take them with my unwieldly ipad pro before work. Between the ipad fold over case, and being in a hurry, they arent the best. But, i hope they are helpful nonetheless.View attachment 807326View attachment 807327View attachment 807328View attachment 807329View attachment 807330

Thanks for the pics and review. Looks like that back is already scratched up. Do they rub out?

I think the reign of the Sheath may be challenged here shortly. 2 problems.

1. Does anyone else find that the Sheath’s texture is rough on the hands?

2. The most efficient way to floss and brush my daughter’s teeth is to let her watch YouTube kids. Well...my poor girl has dropped the phone on her face several times now. What’s the best way to stop #PhoneFace ? A loopy! Wow marketing really works on me. Lol. My biggest issue with the loopy for the 7 plus was that it wouldn’t sit flat so when Apple introduced Qi I knew that I couldn’t use wireless charging. With the max I only use a wireless charger at night so it’s not really that big of a deal. I think I’m going to order a black case with a red loop! Go Dawgs this weekend!

Edit: these cases are way over priced. I’m going to buy one anyway though. Hopefully I can find a discount code from mobile reviews eh or something.

That’s not a half bad idea actually! Not sure how I feel about those though. I’ve never used one on my cases. They don’t seem very comfortable to hold like a silicone loop. What do you think?

Flush buttons FTW!!!!!

I made fun of them for years. Won one for a BB review now I’m hooked I have them on 3 of six cases including Midget Vader Get the aluminum version after a little bit it’s pretty comfortable and doubles as a stand for watching movies etc. I definitely think it’s worth it but it’s also a personal choice so let me know what you think

I’ve got the Ringke Onyx as a “throw away” cause since I had some amazon bucks; So far it’s my favorite! I love the feel and the higher lip on the top and bottom of the screen. I’ve gone through (bought and returned) almost 5-6 different cases since launch of the phone. This one seems to be my favorite other than the Apple Leather. My absolute favorite case ever was the Spigen Neo-Hybrid for the 6s. It’s a shame that they haven’t been as good as that one since, but I am going to give it a whirl for my XS Max and see. After that I’m done. The Ringke and Apple Leather are gonna be the final rotation... unless the Spigen is awesome. Either way it’s been fun checking on this thread and seen everyone else’s opinion on things!

Yeah, that is how the XS Synthesis back came, with some micro scratches and a few smooth areas that give a more shiny appearance. After seeing your note, I did try lightly rubbing them out with a damp soft cloth and there was no change.

I'm OK with the appearance as you need to look close to see this stuff. I bought this more for protection and assumed it would fall into the "basic black case" as far as looks goes.

It looks like a good case. I may still consider it if the max ever comes out.
