I doubt it. I think Apple's implementation of mouse support shows that they still don't want people using it as a normal input device for iPads. They buried it in the accessibility settings and when it's on you get a giant circular cursor instead of what you would normally expect with a mouse. Maybe that'll change but it really looks like they want people sticking with touch + Apple Pencil.
I agree. For better or worse, Apple sees the iPad as a Tablet and iPadOS as touch first. They put a significant amount of work into new gestures and touch-based text selection. The mouse implementation was minimalist. There have been jail breaks for iPad mouse support since launch in 2010. This is not rocket science or cutting edge tech. You almost get the feeling Apple is being pulled into this kicking and screaming.
