Has anyone heard anything about the Highpoint SSD7140 8x M.2 NVME PCIe card?

Eight NVMEs on a single PCIe card would be super-useful for super-fast mass storage. I can’t find any info about it outside of Highpoint’s website though.

Wow that option sounds really interesting. Looking forward to hear more about it as well.

Personally, I wouldn't trust Highpoint as far as I could throw them. I ended up returning an earlier model after endless performance issues and extremely bad, time-wasting obfuscation by tech support. Went for a Sonnet 4x4 and never looked back. BTW, as far I understand - 8 x NVMes on a single card /16x slot will have reduced performance over 4x. In terms of sheer storage capacity I use a NAS and TB enclosures.

I am having problems with this Lycom DT 130 in a cMP 5,1 (PCIe slot 2) running rom 144, Mojave.
Basically, my Sabrent Rocket Q works in one slot, but not the other. Tried multiple times.
Looking at the photo it works in the top slot, but nothing recognised in the bottom slot.
Is this normal?
I don't have another drive to test out both slots, so need to know whether to send this card back, if another user can help me out please?
Cheers

That is not normal, I am using 2 x 980pro M2 drives and my mac see's them both, infact using 2 of these cards both with twin M2 drives and both no issues. I think you might have a duff card there.

I agree with @Matty_TypeR, it appears your card is defective. I have the same card installed on pcie slot 2 and never experienced your issue when testing with one blade on either of the two nmvem2 slots on the card.

Reach out to their customer support via their website and ask, they are responsive. I reached out twice to them, before and after purchasing the card. They were quick to respond my queries and helpful.

EDIT: My card is actually sold by Ableconn and that’s who I reached out when I had questions. The Lycom and Ableconn seems to be the same card, but sold by different companies.

Thanks so much to both of you. You confirmed my suspicions.
I'll send it back (only purchased a few days ago) and get a replacement.
Glad I did some more testing as I could have waited a few months for another drive and only noticed then.
it was a cheaper card as someone else had returned it, maybe they broke it trying to install, who knows.

Much appreciated though, thanks for your time! :)
