For those upgrading this year, what device are you upgrading from and why? If you're not upgrading, what device are you using and why are you sticking with it?

For me, 11 Pro user here, and not upgrading. If I didn't upgrade last year, I'd probably go for the regular 12 or 12 mini. The 11 Pro is too big and heavy for my liking, but I mostly got it for the OLED screen. A part of me wishes I didn't pull the trigger last year, as my 7 would've been fine for the past year, and that would get a 12 now. I've been considering selling my 11 Pro, but I think I'll keep it for another 2-3 years or until they get rid of the notch.

I’ll be upgrading from a iPhone 8+ 64GB to a 12 Pro. Also, won’t hesitate to send it back and keep using my 8+, if the battery life is bad/worst than last year Pro.

The iPhone 8 Plus to the 12. Seems the obvious choice as I am used to a larger iPhone.

I’m upgrading because I can, not because I need to. The 8 Plus is still a fast and reliable phone and the battery life is still excellent. I’m out of contract so I fancy a new phone and I’m lucky enough to be able to afford one. Other than that, no sensible reasons lol.

Just looked at battery health.

My X is now at 90%. And the phone advises me to bring it in to service. Really? At 90%?

iPhone 7 with a scratched back camera. Going to be a nice upgrade to the 12 mini for me. Been waiting for a size like the mini for a while.

I’ll keep the mini for 3-4 years, less if they come out with a notchless iPhone with 120hz before then.

There is only 26 grams between the 11 pro and the 12 so i wouldn't down grade for that, to a mini maybe.

My XS is at 100% health. Kind of sad to trade in.

You made the good decision to hold out last year, 12 mini will be solid coming from a 7. I’m excited to see how Apple will pull off a notchless iPhone, hoping it comes in the next few years.

Very astute of you not to put any Samsung flagship models on your choice list as we ain’t switching to any Apple phone ;)

Xs to 12 pro. 100% for the better camera, everything else is irrelevant. Pictures/videos are forever and its impossible to improve their quality years later - you are stuck with what you got.

Going to take a few more years for notchless, I wouldn't hold my breath. Next year is the first year the notch is supposed to be shrinking so it's probably going to be another few years after that. At least a year or two after it becomes commonplace in Android phones, since Apple waits to perfect a technology before implementing it (case in point 120Hz which is still missing).

Although I do agree, a 7 to a 12 Mini is a solid upgrade. I considered the exact same move, but I think my 7 can hold on for another year or two with a battery replacement!

Upgrading from an X but will keep it to use on my dual sport motorcycle as a backup gps.

Either the XR isn’t a common iPhone to have or folks hanging onto theirs. I’m almost tempted to upgrade my XR to an iPhone 12 Pro but am unsure just yet.

Still rocking an 8 Plus 64GB. Most of the reason I'm upgrading is because 64GB is not nearly enough for me.
