I'm upgrading from an iPhone 8 to the 12 Pro and I'm a combination of nervous/excited - I'm going to miss the home button. Or will I?

Moving from the iPhone SE (2020) and pre-ordering a 12 Pro.

I did want the mini, and still might change my mind once I see them in reviews etc, however the main reason I’m changing is battery life so the Mini might not be good enough anyway.

As for me I’m going from 8 to 12 Pro. Was set on the mini until I realized I wanted the best, but not the best chungus boi, so the 12 Pro is for me. Also I’m dying to go caseless and stare at the blue surgery steel. Drool....

Why did I wait so long to upgrade? X was compelling but not enough at the time for me when 8 had an identical processor. Then neither XS nor XR nor 11 or 11 Pro, nor even the SE2020 were enough to grab me. I knew I was now sorely behind on camera but I wanted to wait for that blue blur of an iPhone I knew Apple could pull off. Here we are.

I’m upgrading from a 7+ and my husband is upgrading from an XR. He could keep his phone longer but we are passing it on to another family member so we can FaceTime with them.

My battery life is pretty bad (78%) and I’m ready for basically the same size screen with less framing so it fits a little better in a bag/purse/pocket. My 7+ will still work great for the kids to do their school activities or use as an e-reader at home.

11 Pro Max 512 GB to 12 Pro Max 512 GB because of the screen, the chip, 5G, the camera system. Since I lease monthly on AT&T Next every year plan why not. Basically same monthly cost $60.34 with zero interest. Only have to pay the taxes up front each year. Newest top line phone, fresh battery, total yearly cost $808.

From 64gb XS Max to 128gb 12 Pro.

16 payments into my iUP, I had been holding out since May for the newest iPhone. Going to Apple's pay monthly scheme which is cheaper albeit I won't be able to get the newest model next year without stumping up the cash to pay it off but I think I'm ready to go back to a new phone every two years - Every year is probably a bit of an overkill.

Battery has started to deteriorate quite noticeably so now is definitely the time to upgrade. Should be quite noticeable upgrades jumping to the 12 rather than the 11

Upgrading from the 11 to the 12. Because i like the smaller form factor and thinner bezels. Oled is a bonus bur not necessary.

My XS Max took a dip in a pool and stopped working so I got a iPhone 11 to tie me down. I miss my bigger size screen and OLED display so I can’t wait for 12 pro Max.... kinda dissapointed I have to wait an extra month, but no big deal I guess.

You know what I find I miss the most (more than the home button, the weight, etc.)? The easy slide-up-from-the-bottom Control Center. I mention it so that if you do, too, hopefully you'll enjoy your final days with your 8 before you have other kind of fun with your new 12P.

Ditto!

My work covers a new phone every three years so.... why not
Upgrading from iPhone X. It's absolutely still a great phone and I wouldn't have upgraded otherwise. But it will be nice with a better camera and more storage (only have 64gb now)

6S

why? **** is old, man!

I could probably eke out another year with it, but the 12 is really the first iPhone release that I feel is worth upgrading.

likely going with 12 pro 256gb in luxurious polluted pacific blue. 12 pro max might be a possibility after I can hold one. My IPP 10.5” has been pissing me off with it’s terrible battery life, and I feel like it may kills two birds with one stone if I got the max.

For those upgrading this year, what device are you upgrading from and why? If you're not upgrading, what device are you using and why are you sticking with it?

For me, 11 Pro user here, and not upgrading. If I didn't upgrade last year, I'd probably go for the regular 12 or 12 mini. The 11 Pro is too big and heavy for my liking, but I mostly got it for the OLED screen. A part of me wishes I didn't pull the trigger last year, as my 7 would've been fine for the past year, and that would get a 12 now. I've been considering selling my 11 Pro, but I think I'll keep it for another 2-3 years or until they get rid of the notch.

11pro to 12. Been waiting for awhile for a aluminum iphone with OLED screen. Could care less about the Lidar or Telephoto lens. The weight of the SS on the pro models is bothersome.

You and I are the same, you're tempting me.. but I know I should just stick it out as I can't justify upgrading every year.

I agree, getting to control center is so hard to do now one-handed. I miss it when using my old 7.

Going from iPhone 11 64gb black to iPhone 12 64gb black. I upgrade each year and sell my old one off. Keeps me in warranty, fresh battery and a nice new phone for a relatively low investment. I don’t really need any of the high end features or high storage so these cheaper phones are perfect for me. The one thing I will be glad to have back is OLED since I did miss that going from iPhone X to Xr to 11.
