Re-watching Allo! Allo! for the 9th time in about a year. I can't get enough of old shows like this.

After years of recommendations we thought we'd give Dexter a try.
Just finished season 1.
Meh.....
Oh good God. I remember someone telling me it was the show I had to watch and that it would make my life complete. I remember watching the entire first season and being bored out of my mind. I felt the same way with Breaking Bad. I barely made it 5 episodes in before giving up. I'm not sure how these two pass off as entertainment.

Are there any good comedies available on Netflix or Prime? Nothing in either Comedy category is actually funny.

I mean funny like Arrested Development, workaholics, Archer, bobs Burgers?!?!? I've been around the block with those a few times, I need something new!

That's exactly how I feel about Archer. I have tried 3 different times to get into it because it gets recommended so much, but I just don't find it funny.

Never understood the point of that show either. My second youngest nephew loves it though.

I myself enjoy NCIS, Suits, and similar shows.

I've been rewatching My Name is Earl, which has a rather brilliant first two seasons, on Netflix. It's cinematic, clever, self-aware, and droll—this latter trait is shared with some of the shows @jimmirehman mentioned.

For those who are unfamiliar with the series, it's about a criminal who sets out to make up for all of his mistakes after almost being killed by what he believes are karmic forces. Each episode focuses on him atoning for one of his misdeeds and includes humorous, well timed flashbacks to expound on his crimes.

I watched all of 'A Piece Of Cake' yesterday. This was a superb, and historically accurate, period drama set in a squadron of Fighter Command in the first year of WW2, from September 1939 until September 1940.

Tonight, sipping a few glasses of Pouilly-Fuisée, an elegant white wine from Burgundy, I am also binging a little on another British TV series from the 1970s.

This is called 'Danger UXB', and is one of those brilliant British TV series' that manages to be unpretentious, understated, superbly acted, and utterly authentic in a slightly grubby yet completely credible display of the sort of TV drama that the Brits used to excel at. This is genuinely gripping stuff.

Question: Is Bloodline any good?

Also, it appears Netflix is carrying NCIS season 1-11 for streaming right now.

@Scepticalscribe You must check out Allo! Allo!

Well, no, thanks, all the same.

As it happens, I tend to prefer my history a bit more solidly based in fact, (or - as with Blackadder - sharply satirical); 'Allo! Allo!' isn't really my cup of tea, to be honest.

However, I must confess that I actually loved the original series that 'Allo! Allo!' apparently drew its inspiration from, an excellent TV series called 'Secret Army', which, again, had a first rate cast, great scripts (each episode was based on true stories, or on events that had actually happened, although not necessarily in Belgium) and a meticulously researched historical background.

I haven't had much luck finding the DVDs to Secret Army.
