I just started a new show: Blindspotting. It’s original but I didn’t like the first episode. The second is better. There are some musical interlude and some poetry. I like the main actress.

Now the thing is it shows a certain type of people, well ghetto people do not sure it will resonate to a lot of us, here. I don’t mind but here “Girl” or Bitch” every couple of sentences can be tiresome.

Well, isn’t that special? I won’t be following the spin off. I’m not going to subscribe to multiple pay sights to watch tv/movies. I’m a prime member and have Disney + which is all I’m willing to do.
    Well sh*t... That does indeed suck.

I admit I made an assumption because right now IMBD says always free, but my guess is that‘s with commercials or you can pay for no commercials… ?

Its hard to enjoy another TV show after Better Call Saul. It seems it has fallen under the radar. Its getting a meager 1.3ish ratings compared to GoT's 9.0+

Thats the thing with BB, while other shows have a bell curve quality or downward graph line... BB's quality line ascends

I just can’t find the same class or entertainment value in Saul, compared to BB, not by a mile.

to me , I think Saul might be a better show than BB(been a long time can't compare), but this is confusing since its basically the same show with same characters but telling other events in the storyline. You probably can start watching Saul and when it ends start watching BB as a continuation.

BCS is more of a character study, and doesn't have as many guns and 'splosions as BB did. Some may not enjoy that as much. Some may not find Saul as interesting as Walt.

But even if only purely from a production standpoint, it's objectively better, since the cast, crew, writers and staff are more experienced than they were when BB was made. Some have moved on, but the interns and assistants who started with BB have graduated to fill their shoes. People who now have those three-letter acronyms appended to their names in the credits (representing membership in those guilds and honorary societies) earned them as a result of their work on the show.

To me, if BCS was just going to be a rehash of BB, there would really be no point in making the show. Why do more of the same (save that for the CBS shows and other procedurals, and movie franchises)?

BCS tells us the stories of how Jimmy became Saul, how Mike and Hector became who they are, complemented by new characters like Kim, Chuck, Howard, Nacho, and Lalo (in the short time we've seen him, along with Werner). Even Huell and Francesca.

Fans of the shows probably know that Jesse wasn't the only character who wasn't originally envisioned as a long-term regular. Saul and Mike (due to a scheduling conflict for Odenkirk) were both fleeting characters as well. It was Saul, not Mike who was supposed to be the one who cleaned up Jane's duplex.

I think it's fair to say they did a pretty good job running with those characters, making them integral parts of BB, and spawning another show of their own.

Just finished Breaking Bad. Holy cow what a series that was. Walter White was a Monster, but the finale kinda redeemed him a little.
That gun turret on the car was incredibly bad ass.
That was a great ending.

I think its completely genius. I think this should be taught in tv schools. The way they integrated the characters, built the same universe/world, how the pace of BB told the story of Walt then the pace of Saul told the story of Jimm, the introduction of even new characters that fit right in place, the come back of characters that fit right in place. Its just so perfectly integrated and well put together with each serving its purpose. Even the actors held true to the character's identity and AFAIK its even harder to act a prequel to a character than a sequel. You really can tell when people work out of love or vision or when they work for monetary gain only.

This is the only show I know that spans 12 seasons(albeit a spin-off but we can say its basically the same show) that maintains the constant quality(or increases) and keeps the viewer in his seat. Show me another show that did that.

The only ones I remember are sitcoms but even those did not run 12 seasons (Seinfeld 9 seasons, Friends 10 seasons, FPoB 6 seasons..etc) . I am sure others that did had their ups and downs. That 70s show final season was horrific.

Weren't you complaining a couple posts back that the show was not as great as people made it seem to be?
plus put a spoiler on that thing you will ruin it for the others.

I was complaining that the show wasn't as great (I think this was three episodes into season 3 so it was a while ago), but I stuck with it, and understood what Gilligan was trying to do. Am I not allowed to change my mind the deeper I get into a said series? The big episodes rewarded patience. Also, I don't think that much I posted was much of a spoiler, and the show has been off for close to 8 years.

Money Heist, it's great.

Recently watched The Sopranos for the first time. Wow. Incredible show. Will watch again very soon just to pick up on notes I didn't initially get.

I haven't really been enjoying many new TV shows, I find myself gravitating to interesting content on YouTube instead.

I'd include Cheers in that list. It spun off Frasier. Taxi was also a great sitcom.

M*A*S*H as well, though the later seasons were more dramedy than comedy. Its series finale is still the highest-rated (non-sports) TV show of all time. More than 100 million tuned in, with 3/4 share. With so many different ways to consume media now, and many more choices, I don't think it will ever be topped. Unless Jim Ignatowski's alien friends decide to announce their arrival via a TV special.

Call the Midwife.

I caught their 10 Anniversary Special, and it made me realise there were lots of episodes we hadn't seen, so we started again from the beginning.

If you haven't watched it before, make sure boxes of tissues are available.
Also there are lots of ultra-cute newborn babies, but I am given to understand that they are animatronic.

Just started the new season of Bosch, this first episode is great. Lots or rhythm. I wonder if the theme will be around gentrification this time.

Of course you can, I just was trying to show BB fans were not lying when they praised it. I think you gave too much spoiler, you literally mentioned how the show ends.

I never saw a young Christopher Lloyd before

Bosch returns the 25th of June and I will be binging it for sure.
WOW really enjoyed season 7 ? - but it was too short !

There is going to be a spinoff but with Bosch, his daughter, and Money Chandler. Now what pisses me off is they are moving this series to IMDB TV for another fricking subscription, bastardos.

The spin off sounds pretty good but I agree - I already have too many subscriptions :(

Now that I finished Breaking Bad, I went back to my Star Trek: Enterprise Rewatch. Planning to rewatch Ted Lasso Season 1 in a couple weeks before the new season starts.

I decided to start Better Call Saul last night. Good first episode, but I was confused about the very beginning. Was that Saul post Breaking Bad Finale working at the Cinnibun and then watching his old video tapes? Also, what was with the black and white. I was thinking the entire show was going to be in Black and White.

It’s set before Breaking Bad. He’s not met Walt yet.

The "Cinnabon Gene" segments are set in the post-BB time.

Ed, the vacuum salesman with a side gig, set up his new identity as Gene, who slings cinnamon rolls in Nebraska.

His appearance in the El Camino BB movie was one of Robert Forster's last roles.
