Started watching this on HBO Max and it's not bad:

I quite liked it. I'm not a big western or martial art fan, so not sure why it appealed. Anyway worth a watch.

Just finished Dirk Gently Holistic Detective Agency.

(For once, I won't complain about how it changes the books--but only because I haven't read the books!)

Changes were definitely required - Douglas Adams books are probably tricky to bring across if not, but I do love his writing style.

Recently watch the limited series Maid on Netflix, after noticing many articles talking about how great it is. And finding out that the stars are Andie MacDowell, and her daughter Margaret Qualley (who is the main character in the series).

Very sympathetic, gives a sometimes painful presentation (and rightfully so) regarding the circumstances of abused women and struggling single mothers. I enjoyed it very much.

I don't think there are plans for a second season at this point, I think the story arc is intended to be complete with the 10 episodes released, not to say it won't be given further life since the reception for the series seems to have been very strong.

Great cast and performances. I recommend it.

Dirk Gently... was pretty good. The 1st season was definitely better than the 2nd.

I gotta check out Maid now.

I’m a bit disappointed by the new season of Succession. The story is not moving much and there a lot of back & forth.

On a totally different topic, yesterday I finished Dopesick, I’m adding it to my TOP 5 of 2021. This show will hit you in the gut, I definitely recommend it. Some elements are a bit caricatural but overall it’s outstanding. It’s about the opioid crisis. I’m shocked and still don’t understand nothing was done in the US for many years to fight this crisis.

I feel the same way about this season of Succession to the point where I wasn't sure whether I had rewatched the previous episode because the new episode felt just about the same. At the very least they could have Shiv dressed in a different color scheme to help differentiate the episodes LOL.

Clickbait (2021)
Netflix show about a kidnapping in which the victim is killed if an online video streaming of the kidnapping reaches 5,000,000 views. The premise is pretty ingenious, the show is more than watchable. It's not a great show, but it certainly contains some gems in addition to some criticism of the current bloodthirsty online community.
My wife and I binged this yesterday ... and absolutely loved it ... the only criticism is we were left wondering "why?" ... We both thought it was headed in a different direction until the last episode ... but still don't understand WHY the perpetrator did it ...

1st ep was Brilliant.

So much better than the original film that was released.

Guess what? They didn't hate each other! They were laughing and playing around. There was some tension but nothing like the original film depicted.

After watching this myself, I also found the ending unexpected. The two men who kidnapped Nick Brewer did so because it was revenge for the sister committing suicide, resulting from Nick's apparent harsh final notes to her. Of course, Nick wasn't responsible for the notes or the suicide, that was the result of the character Dawn Gleed who had been impersonating him. Nick managed to escape from his kidnappers but had the huge bad luck to find himself at Dawn's home, looking for help, and Dawn's husband kills him because he overhears Nick's realization that Dawn had been responsible for the whole thing, and he kills Nick to protect his wife from discovery.

Talk about spoilers…

I got that ... but ...

I get why all of that happened, except WHY did Dawn do the whole online thing to begin with? There was no motivation for that as far as I could see.
