I've just started watching HBO's
Rome. Only 3 episodes in and I'm hooked. Fantastic story, fantastic character development -- although a bit fast and loose with the historical accuracy. Nearly all the actors are those I've never heard of before, but day-um, they've got me hating, loving, caring about the characters they play. No one dimensional characters in the main cast.
I love the interaction between the ramrod straight (Lawful Good) Vorenus and the loose cannon (Chaotic Neutral) Pullo. 3 episodes in and I'm already invested in this bromance.? Lucius Vorenus is the favorite character thus far. Pompey and Ceasar are both dignified and immoral--probably acceptable for the time.
If I have any complaint it would be the character of
Atia of the Julli. The historical accuracy of the character is way off, but then a pious, moral woman would make for a boring main character. She's more an amalgam of powerful women of the time with a heavy dose of
Clodia Metelli.
