Just finished the first season of Flex X Cop, a 2024 South Korean TV series (which I understand is a remake of a Russian series from 2015 called Silver Spoon). Thought it was pretty good, will be looking out for season 2. đź‘Ť

The Perfect Couple - Netflix - Really enjoyed this one. Someone recommended it and I watched 5 of the 6 episodes yesterday. Will finish that last one today. Murder mystery that tells the story in a bit of a different way. (Nicole Kidman)

I finished The Perfect Couple. I was only interested because there was the actor of Ray Donovan. There is one good joke only at the end…but the end is very bad. It feels too incoherent. They spent so much time on each potential suspect, except the last one who totally missed some proper character development.

A waste of time, I wouldn’t recommend it.
The Perfect Couple male lead who played Ray Donovan is Liev Schreiber. Although we did enjoy this limited series, by far our favorite part was the flash mob dance in the intro.

I've been watching Presumed Innocent and other than the first episode, I've actually liked it. They really got into the court part of the show in episode 3 and it's been interesting so far.

After I finish that I will probably rewatch Silo, considering that comes back in about a month.

I started Colin from Accounts. It’s great, light and sometimes funny. I recommend it if you don’t know what to watch or looking for something good.

The original comment was
Watching old TV shows (from purchased disks) of the late John Barry Humphries aka Dame Edna Everage. Humor is subjective but I know of no other clean comedy performer who has such a fast and creative wit.

My reply was trying to say that Barry Humphries was not always a 'clean comedian'. Some of his characters, especially Sandy Stone, were deliberately crass and vulgar, particularly when poking fun at men. But, some of Edna Everage's comments about women were also somewhat edgy.

Sir Les Patterson - the ultimate in crass and vulgarity.
a wonderful, wonderful character.
especially his appearances on 'Parkinson'.
minister for the yarts from the higher echelons of society.
(also a great mate of the late Bill Leak)

Tom Baker was my first Doctor, watched it on PBS 11PM Central; I would sneak out into the living room and sit way too close to the Curtis Mathis floor console with the volume turned way down low, since my mom's bedroom door was about 7 feet away from the TV...

PBS on Sunday mornings. I'd watch All Creatures Great and Small before going to church... When I'd get home The Dr. was usually on at that point.

I was turned off by how soap operay it seemed... and looked.

I can't watch the older seasons such as that age...
Even for those of us who were glued to Who back in the 70s, the 60s stuff is a bit heavy going. I think it brings home how much slower-moving TV was in those days. Even then, ISTR the show didn't really take off until certain dustbins-with-sink-plungers showed up in the second story.

Main point of watching the first episode is to note that the character is listed as "Dr Who" in the titles, so you can join in the arguments :)

I believe (based on reading The Making Of Star Trek...) the original Star Trek (which, of course came after Dr Who) was one of the pioneers of faster storytelling, establishing that you could cut rapidly between scenes and locations without "confusing the audience". The "transporter" idea was partly budget saving but also about getting the characters where they needed to go quickly.

The modern version of Who has probably gone too far in the other direction, cramming at least two episodes worth of plot into each episode and making everything very rushed. The film/TV industry really has no middle gear...

Superb episode of Slow Horses today, and the end credits was cleverly done too. I think it’s an interesting clever way how they are using dementia in this series too.

Talk about coincidence, I replied in the movie thread about how good The Matrix OG is, then I was googling Slow Horses to find out who the guy who wears the hoodie all the time is, and only then realise Agent Smith is in this season as the baddy! His accent is very good and his beard hides those Agent Smith looks, and h3 lacks his elf ears too of course lol.

Re-watching Peaky Blinders, since we only made it to season two way-way-way back. Forgot how good this show is. We are getting ready to start season three which we have not seen. Good stuff!!!

@Boil WHOOPS...
