Well, we've finished up Season 1 of "The Good Place". What a great story. Good comedy and a twist ending that none of us even came close to seeing coming. Can't wait to start Season 2 and see where it goes from here!

It's a rare show that keeps me guessing, S2 keeps that going :)

Shocked this is on network TV, but Michael Schur is a bit of a creative genius :D
[doublepost=1538015928][/doublepost]So I've mentioned Castle Rock (more than once), I think it's worth mentioning the music, the title theme (not all EPs though ...) scored by the outstanding talent Ramin Djawadi , who's done amazing/award winning for work for Game of Thrones and Westworld, the song, This World - but I think the real stunner, where the episode (writing/acting/production) came together with music in a way that's rarely seen on a show, Max Richter ~ On the Nature of Daylight, for S1 EP7, The Queen.

Richter is an amazing talent, scored much of the music for another highly recommended show, The Leftovers. A couple of his tracks (including the one from above):

Max Richter ~ Leftovers, main theme

Max Richter ~ On the Nature of Daylight

I started watching the Spanish La Casa de Papel (aka. Money Heist) on Netflix last night. As I had to wake up early today I made a pact with my self that I'll watch at most two episodes and then head to bed. It didn't go exactly as planned, and had I actually gotten to sleep I would have probably overslept in a glorious fashion.

A fun show, and since I'm currently trying to learn Spanish it's nice that the show actually is in Spanish. There are a few repeated, and often used tropes that can get on my nerves, but all in all I'm entertained.

Ah, I'd been wondering what that was like. You may enjoy Au service de la France.

Thanks, I'll check it out if it's on Netflix here.

If you like heist films / shows with some outrageous, but still thoroughly entertaining characters and plot twists I'd recommend La Casa de Papel. Still a couple of episodes to go, and then it's off to season 2.

This ended up being a lot campier than I expected, and surprisingly, I really liked it. I think it managed to fuse together comedy and drama really well without suffering from jarring bathos like, say, a lot of Marvel films (which I tend to enjoy if I don't think about too much).

The genre bending is pretty cool too. I've heard that the appeal of science fiction—all fiction I guess—is that it allows us to explore the human condition by experiencing it through characters in foreign situations. Because the show changes genre often, these characters gain a lot of depth with each new genre and situation they're in.

… So I've mentioned Castle Rock (more than once), I think it's worth mentioning the music, the title theme (not all EPs though ...) scored by the outstanding talent Ramin Djawadi , who's done amazing/award winning for work for Game of Thrones and Westworld…

Dunno if you're a fan of Soundgarden (I mean, they're no Willy Nelson), but I feel in love with this in episode one of Westworld.

Yes, huge fan of Soundgarden/Audioslave/<side_projects>/Chris Cornell, and all the music on Westworld (also a fan of the show, though it does test me sometimes, not unlike a census taker ...).

Hahaha, FTR, I'm not really into Willie Nelson, he just occupies a reverent place in my head :D

Any place but here or there....
Plowed through Knightfall season 1.

Very, very good. My biggest quibble about these historical dramas is the O.T.T. drama is usually a hard sell for me, but they worked that rather seamlessly into this series (though portions of the finale were LOL wince). The obvious CGI for certain settings and battle shots was a little annoying, but that's quickly phased out. I did love the costumes, make up and the use of overhead shots which felt very unique. The fighting was also pretty gnarly especially in the last few episodes, I liked that since I am so used to elegant sword duels and such from wuxias.

The plotting, overall story and great characterization make it a good show if you want to see how the Knights Templar fell so spectacularly. They filming season 2 now, and even without Mark Hamill joining (and looking seriously epic), I'd be pretty eager to check it out. I think he's going to add the right amount of conflict especially for the lead character which will be lots of fun.

@Apple fanboy - I just gave up on Vikings because Rathgar bored the hell out of me and there were too many characters to keep track of. I suppose if I knew more actual Viking history I would have seen it through, but it was easy for me to let go.

Some of the episodes did get a bit repetitive I found. But I’ll pick it up again if time allows.

The Sinner, Season 2

Seriously fantastic. When there's so many spectacular options like this, I don't / you shouldn’t, waste your time on the other mediocre [at best] junk.

Masterclass of performance, directing, writing, engaging, every EP ends on a jaw dropping moment.

My comments about Season 1:

The Sinner

Holy smokes (pun sort of intended ... :D), it's fantastic. I'd say if you liked S1 of True Detective, Mindhunters, it's definitely worth your time.

Watched the first 6 EPs, finishing it tonight. S2 has been ordered, it will be a different story, don't want to say much as it could spoil S1.

Originally aired on USA Network (of all places), but S1 is currently on Netflix.

Insert pretty much anything by Chris Cornell. I also liked the soundtrack to Westworld so much, I ended up purchasing the CD. He is the same gentleman who does Game of Thrones and a few other shows.

I have a hard time coming up with a show I'm awaiting as much as The Sinner. Unfortunately it seems it's taking it's sweet time coming to a Netflix near me! Hopefully it's not going to take too long.

Not to rub it in ... :D ... but S2 is fantastic, Pullman needs a nomination, Carrie Coon is always amazing as well.

11.22.63 On hulu. Its a limited series based on a Stephen King novel. James Franco travels back in time to try and stop the assassination of JFK. But he learns <insert eerie music here> that when you **** with the past, the past can **** you back.

I read the book and enjoyed it. Don’t have Hulu so I’ll have to try and find another way to watch this.
