Kurt Seyit ve Sura, a Turkish series (English subtitles) on Netflix. It's a period drama set during and following WWI, about a young Russian noblewoman and a Crimean Turkish lieutenant in service to the Russian Tsar.

Not really a spoiler, or if so then blame the screenwriter: The relationship of the star-crossed couple is doomed in the first few minutes of the film, by the papa of the handsome lieutenant -- even before he departs his homeland. Papa's dictum about beautiful young Russian women: "Love them, enjoy them, come back and marry a good Turkish woman..."

So it's bound to be all over the top, of course, and many a tear is shed by all parties save a few villains. It's very wonderful for the costumes, fabulous settings and cinematography. All the actors (and horses!) are gorgeous and the music is totally over the top, sometimes hilariously so, what can I say. But it's a binge-worthy watch anyway. I really enjoyed it as a complete escape from... everything!!

The series is based loosely on two of five novels written by the real Kurt Seyit's granddaughter, Nermin Bezmen. The novels are not biographical, but were researched to extent of the granddaughter seeking out and interviewing some of her grandfather's friends and contemporary family.

Ive been staying up until midnight Friday (Thursday night) to watch all the new TV+ shows. Love “For All Mankind.”
“The Morning Show” is really good, too, but I couldn’t get into “See,” but since I never got into Game of Thrones, that may be why... I have not started “Servant” yet. Sure, like every other M. Night Shyamalan, it’s got hype, but I am always disappointed when one of his movies is over. And I’m not about to waste 10 weeks just to be miffed. ???

The last two I really binged, as opposed to watching religiously as they were released, were the entire series of Breaking Bad and The Wire.

I like and faithfully watch(ed) new episodes of Endeavour, The Crown, The Man in the High Castle, See, The Madalorian, among others, but definitionally I'm not sure that watching them as they are released is "binging." YMMV and no comments from me if it does.

We've just finshed watching the last episode of a French series called 'Le Bazar de la charity'. An absolutely amazing production. I'm particularly looking forward to watching it again as soon as it's released on whichever streaming media. We watched it in French, but it should be dubbed in English when released internationaly.
It's based on a factual tragedy, a horrendous fire in Paris 1897, at an annual charity event which claimed the lives of 126 - mainly women and children, many from aristocratic families - notably one Duchess - who with others had taken along toys and other items to be sold for charity. Wiki gives more details of the tragedy.
A teaser clip from the series HERE:
Highly recommended!
