1. Steel band
2. Milanese
3. Sport (gym)
4. Classic Leather (black)
I desire about the same set of bands.
1. Stainless steel link bracelet.
2. Black rubber sport for the gym.
3. Classic leather black.
4. Milanese if I can afford it!

It's not a "watch"; it's a wearable computer. I have a beautiful GMT Master but it can't do anything except tell time.
There is a world of difference!!

Haven't decided on the band yet, but it isn't like they're terribly different.
If I only get to choose one, it will be the Milanese loop without hesitation.
Lets all stop kidding each other and ourselves. We're totally going to end up with a pile of bands on our desks.
I plan on buying a sport band and something dress-y that I can quickly change-out depending on the activity of the day.
What is it, everyone likes about the Milanese Loop? I really don't get it.
I've been looking at the various versions and at the moment i'm torn between the Watch Stainless Steel version and the Watch Sport, any guesses on which one will be more durable?
If you are going to keep it years and watch it go out of date then pay more and get the Steel one.
If you simply want to enjoy the exact same experience as everyone else, but will want the next improved model as soon as it becomes available, then you may as well get the cheapest model, unless you really hate the look of the finish of Aluminium.
Good advice. But price aside, does steel really last many years longer than aluminum? You imply that the steel will last for years. How long do you think the aluminum will last?
Think about it this way............
This is Apple Watch version 1.
You know how Apple updates all it other products.
How long do you think you will wish to keep this 1st watch?
Base your decision on how long you feel you will going to keep it.

If you like the look of Aluminium and will want to update to any new models as soon as you can, seeing as all watches are the same inside then get the one you feel offers best value.
I tend to upgrade on a 2 year basis, but this depends on the item, for example my Macbook Pro I've had since 2011 and still works great (however i've been considering upgrading) but my iPhone's i tend to upgrade every 2 years, my iPad I've just updated to the Air 2 from the iPad 3. I usually do this because i like to run the latest OS.
if the Apple Watch can last 2 years and i can change out the straps and bands (Sport band for the gym, and other bands for university/work and social events)
then i would keep it around 2 years, unless version 2 has anything major updates. I'm also someone who looks after my devices, my iPhone's have never had so much as a scratch on them, the same for my Macbook and iPad.
Apple products are usually built to last, so if this is the case with the Apple Watch then i would upgrade every 2 years.
