It's very hard to see the future unless you are part of the team working on what you are planning (Inside Apple)

When iPad1 launched, who would of suspected how much the body of the product would be dramatically changed just 1 months later. We never saw that coming. Sure we thought it may be improved a bit, but not a from scratch physical re-design 12 months later.

So here we are looking at Apple watch 1, and people are saying. Noooo, Apple won't change it much if at all in 12 months time.
Well how do we know.

There could be 2 new versions on the drawling board right now.
And Apple could wait a few months into the Watch v1 sales before deciding which of the two new designs they are going with.

They may go with the lets tweak it a tiny bit inside option, or they may go for a radical overhaul option.

They may have 4 other cosmetically/shape different versions on the drawing board.

It could all be hanging on the 1st 3 to 6 months sales, and it they feel it's selling like a storm and going to take over the world, or it's a bit of a flop and sales are way under expectations and they pull back plans a bit.

No one here knows (well unless there are Apple employees reading this site!)

All you can do it buy what you want NOW, for the price you are willing to pay, and just see what happens.

I'd certainly make no long term investment plans on buying the Apple watch version one on day one, of a future we have no idea about.

Just buy what makes you happy today :)

That's a VERY good point, at this point i know i want a :apple: Watch, i'm just torn between the idea of the :apple: Watch Stainless Steel or the :apple: Watch Sport but i'm sure when i got the Apple store when the Watch is released and see them in person it will help me make my mind up along with pricing.

Indeed, buy what makes you happy TODAY for the price you want to pay TODAY.
Just don't makes choices today based upon what may the case in 12 or 24 months time.
Myself, given the watches all do the exact same thing, same screens, same power, one is not faster or better than the other.
MYSELF I'd get the cheapest one for now, and be happy and just think let's see what happens in 12 months.
Maximum enjoyment from the product for minimum outlay and minimum loss potential.

But then, that's me. And everyone is different :)

That's a logical way of looking at it, it would be annoying to spend £1000 only to find out that there is a much better version only 6-12 months away.

Well, I TRY to be a logical and practical person, but we are all different and people often do thinks for impractical and illogical reasons :)

I don't think anyone is expecting a better watch in 6 months time.

To be honest, from what I've read so far, and almost all of what I've read in unofficial so may be wrong.
The Apple watch COULD do vastly more than it's being allowed to do based upon 2 things.

1: What Apple are going to allow devs to do (so it does not kill the battery)
2: It's restricted in what is can do, due to the battery.

See a common theme here? :)

Rumours are the chip inside has a fair amount of potential power locked up, but it can't do much with it as it's running of this tiny battery.

If that is true, then perhaps the only real upgrade for a few generations will be the battery?
Or perhaps also they may be able to lower the needs of the chip inside.

I get the feeling, and this utter guesswork, if you connected the watch to a decent power source, AND Apple opened up what devs could do, it could do a lot more, than being what it's going to be for the 1st year at least.

An iPhone, mostly notification accessory that does a few extra bits also.

Now, how they can fix this who knows.
We keep hearing about amazing new battery tech in the various labs around the world that never happens.

Apple can't fit anything until someone else invents and makes it for them.
It would be nice if Apple could invent their own battery tech.

We seem to be a bit stuck with no clear fix coming, just a slow plodding improvement.

Hopefully something will come out of the blue and help to solve the power issue, and all makes and brands can offer consumers wearable's without them being crippled due to lack of power.

There is always going to be a much better version of most of the fun stuff we buy sooner or later.

Indeed, however there is always more chance and more scope for BIGGER changes to happen at the start of any product lifecycle.

Likewise towards the end of a products lifecycle changes will slow down.

Look at the 1st two to three years of iPad compared to the last 2 to 3 years.

That's true. I think a lot of people never buy the first model anything. While others always do!

It's always fun buying the 1st model.
New, and exciting.
1st is always great.

Just be ready for change :)

I'm looking forward to the Apple Watch I think it looks great, the only thing I want to know now is how much each version will cost and if there are any features we haven't heard about yet.
