Hey, Quiara - no need to feel that way. It's much more a combo of men who can't write clearly and you reading into it the attitudes you're on the lookout for.
In this particular quote, he didn't intend to compare men and women. He was comparing men to men - mentioning what he believed to be the reason most male Mac users like Macs.
In the earlier part that bothered you, I believe the authors meant to say that a larger percentage of women weigh aesthetics more heavily than do men when it comes to purchasing computers. I don't believe they meant to say that most women (or any at all) purchase mainly based on aesthetics.
It's very easy to read negativity into vague posts. In this very thread, I know there were times when I wanted to smack people who automatically changed the original poster's "manly" to "straight", as if the two have some kind of correlation.
