Is it as smooth as it once used to be on iOS 8?
A few animations that have slight framedrops that are being improved as more iOS 9 updates come out and that most people don't even perceive, that is Apple ******** on a phone? Talk about exaggerating.

Yes.The iPhone 6 was the guinea pig of 2015 till they finally reach 8.4.1 level performance in 2016.Similarly the 6s users will tolerate stutters for 2017 while I will be enjoying the iPhone 7

Nope. Apple isn't letting me down at all. No problems with my devices. No problems with iOS 9.
Which is the reason I'll be buying the iPhone 7s Plus, will be requesting an iPhone 7 as a refresh for my work issued iPhone 6, and will be getting a new iPad when the new one comes out.
I'm a happy customer so I return for the next iteration.

What is so bad about IOS 9? it is very smooth on my 6S plus. Coming from the laggy mess that is samsung S6 edge IOS 9 is simply amazing
Oh God I pitched my SGS 5 in the recycle bin at work. I got an early refresh to the iPhone 6 because I couldn't stand that hot mess of laggy processed bovine feed. My SGS5 was horrendously bad.

When you dont expect anything you wont be disappointed. Using ios for years and never been disappointed because i never have expected it to be anything else than the default ios... Well to be honest, i was thrilled when we got splitview finally. Not the best implementation but better than nothing. And i was really disappointed the poor compatibility to use 3rd party keyboard apps when they came - it was rather a joke - and it took abit too much time to get them working properly (not devs fault) and still there are issues with them.

With ios9.x im quite disappointed that app switcher has terrible 2-3 seconds lag in air2 and not sure but it seems to affect more apple apps like switching to safari...

I think ios users has got used to the fact that ios updates are more or less just stability updates... But nowadays they seem to always break something..

Personally no, I don't think they are letting me down. I have recently came back to iOS, buying a 5s this week. I choose that because it's lower cost and what I learnt from being away is that the benefits of iOS for me are not top screens or top specs but the software that works well, the tight integration between phone and tablet and a lot of very well developed apps. That's what I bought back into, top specs I don't care about, working well that is what I want.

Why was the 5 excellent value? It had a 4 inch non HD display. Most android devices at the time had much bigger displays and were 720p. Some were amoled.
I read this a lot around here but since when a 4" display mean low quality device ? By that logic the iPhone 6s is kind of a budget phone with its 4.7" display compared to some monster like the 6" Nexus 6.

Display size doesn't mean flagship, some people still prefer small and portable phones. Phones number one function is not media consumption, tablets are made for this.

Gotta be in it to win it
I think iPhones is the only place where Apple has kept me happy. I find myself using more and more Microsoft apps and I recently switched to a Surface because of the lack of MBP updates. We will see where 2016 takes us.
In that dept I'm a Windows person, my computing life is windows.

3GS is still in my opinion the best phone ever made. (I have a 5S but would use my old 3GS if it got iOS 7).

It works fine on iOS 9.It was AWESOME on 8.4.1 .Theres a difference
I don't get into that level of superlative with a tool. I'm not attached to an electronic device. Yes, I enjoy using it because I can be in touch with people in a way not possible a few years ago. But that's where it ends. And fwiw iOS 8 was the worst release of the three.

I personnally would not say: "my phone is awesome".

It's quite similar actually.Google Nexus has narrowed the difference significantly. There is zero difference between the software support for Nexus 6P and iPhone 6s

Fracturing of android is still a problem with some cheap prepaids still running a criminal android 2.3 or even 1.5 with no hope of support. I do agree however, for good support, get nexus. (Or Motorola, LG, Samsung, just get a flash ship in general) the only thing saving some unsupported android phones is custom firmware like cyanogenmod (my fav is resurrection remix).

Agreed, what did it even do if you didn't have an iPhone 6?

I'm not talking about a specific Google phone that you can't even buy where I live (and that only came out in September 2015 anyway, so it hasn't actually HAD a history of software update support to rival iOS yet - you're just speculating).

Don't forget that you can also downgrade your Android version any time you like

The Nexus 5 is 3 years old at this point and it's on the latest version of Android.Considering the 6P is considered the best Nexus ever it's safe to say it will get at least 3 years support which matches iOS

It takes a "special " person to say: "my phone is awesome".
I am not attached to my device either. You could say that about my gaming rig, definitely not my phone. But the pleasure of using it on 8.4.1 is not replicated on iOS 9 because of stutters

I totally get it, the smoothness and performance of ios 9 is not replicated on iOS 8 due to springboard crashes and spontaneous reboots.

No, I do not feel that Apple is "letting me down." I don't know how people got the idea that things were magical when His Steveness was alive. They weren't. There was never a time when Apple produced miracles and wonders twice a year, and there never will be. Likewise, there has never been a time when some critic or other hasn't been standing up on his hind legs and bleated, "Apple's best days are behind it. It's doomed. Doooooooomed!" (MacObserver's Apple Death Knell count is up to 70 now.)

I just have a mental picture of neolithic technology: Trag complaining to Throg that his new and improved club, now with a sharp rock attached to the end, lags and stutters when he swings it. The old club was much smoother. Throg is clearly letting the tribe down...

I had been a PC/Windows user for decades. Hated it. The MacBook changed the way I use a PC and the overall experience as well.
What concerns the iPhone and iOS. My first device was a 3G. Loved it. Some time ago decided to try Android (phone and tablet). The tablet was a disaster with time, no updates at all, apps stopped working with the older version of OS, regular freezes, reboots etc. Nevertheless, I have to admit that both Android phone and tablet provided freedom a geek like myself needs time to time. I enjoyed it, but numerous problems (stock e-mail and SMS client shortcomings etc.) forced me to come back to iOS. Yes, it is a closed system compared to Android, but it is more reliable and safe (for me at least).

iOS 8 has crashed a grand total of 4 times on my iOS devices.I have never experienced any reboots. In fact iOS 9 was responsible for bricking phones on the slide to upgrade screen
