You have a dodgy installation of iOS 8 then. You have had exactly 4 more crashes on iOS 8 than I have had with iOS 9.
I tolerated those 4 crashes and got on with life.iOS 9 throws stutters to my face every 15 minutes or so.It sure is difficult to find out which impacted my experience more

If my phone stuttered in safari, mail, navigation or streaming I would be upset, but it doesn't. The uncertainty of the phone crashing at random times would have me worry. Visual artifacts don't worry me.

Not at all. The 6s Plus is the best iPhone Apple has ever released. I can say that this thing actually does give me that "portable computer" feeling and it's fast with an amazing battery. Unlike the iPhone 6 Plus, I honestly can't find anything about this phone to complain about.

Also just purchased an iPad mini 4 and will purchase a 15" rMBP soon.  is on a roll in my opinion.

Their profits compared to the other manufacturers would suggest that many consumers would say the same.

OP should know by now that spec wars don't make a good product. There's a reason why the other manufacturers are struggling for that 5% of the smartphone industry profits that Apple is kind enough to leave for them.

It works fine on iOS 9.It was AWESOME on 8.4.1 .Theres a difference
Just nowhere even close to being much of a meaningful one, let alone a huge one as various precious replies have alluded to.

In some other thread dealing with iOS 9.2.1, I already mentioned that I was sceptical and afraid to update from 8.3 to 9.2.1. Then I bought another iPhone and it was shipped with 9.2. Though I don't like some of the changes in the UI, the system seemed and seems to be smoother or at least the same as 8.3. That was/is my experience.

The thing about Apple is I kinda feel like they have fallen behind. I remember 2007 when the OG iPhone was first announced and the rest of the mobile industry was like "oh ****" It would go on to completely change the mobile industry forever. I remember in 2010 when iPhone 4 dropped and pretty much knocked the the entire tech industry on its ass...again. Beautiful Retina display that (at the time) was the best looking display on a mobile device. Great camera that recorded HD video, that (at the time) looked amazing. And the icing on the cake, FaceTime. Video chatting that actually worked? And it was easy to use? Amazing! The hype around the iPhone 4 was insane and that little guy more than lived up to the hype. And that was the last iPhone that truly had the insane hype around it.

That right there is the Apple that needs to come back. I'd love for iPhone 7 to launch and once again knock the industry on its ass. Hell make it a revolution of the highest form. I'd love for iPhone 7 to have the best display in the industry. Better than Samsung, better than LG or Sony. I'd love for iPhone 7 to have the absolute best camera. Not a half assed "it just gets the job done most of the time" camera. No, the best camera in a phone.

Is iPhone 6S a bad phone? Nope, not at all. Could it have been better? Yep. I just hope Apple comes out swinging this fall and launch a product that's truly "magical".
I couldn't have said it any better. I did think that the 6/6+ were huge and really brought tons of hype and excitement, but nothing will compare to the OG and the 4. I also hope that Apple really knocks it out of the park with the 7 and makes it a phone that completely blows the competition out of the water. It's about time for Apple to do that again.

Maybe time to move to Android, if you think grass is greener on the other side?

At least don't buy 7, maybe get another 5s with old iOS and less feature, and leave it to us to "suffur" through all the pain Apple will imposed on us with new features.

It is hard work to have to deal with all the new features and new bug from new iPhone. Less is better.

Considering anandtech gave it a gold star I'd say it was on okay phone. could Apple have improved it goes without saying, but that general comment could apply to anything and everything and at some point the line has to be drawn in the sand.

In many ways. Like the stability of iOS 9 on the new iPhones isn't smooth like iOS 6 was for the 5 and the hardware is too expensive for 16GB of base storage. Not a terrible phone but I feel as if Apple is around 2 years behind everyone else. There software is still better than Android for basic things but still is behind.
iPhone 4 was the last magical iPhone.
I am no longer excited for the iPhone 7

But if someone pays over $650 for a phone. It should be very similar to the hardware of other phones. 720 LCD screen in 2016 is a joke. 16GB as well. The iPhone 5 was an excellent value for 2012. But not the 6/6S
iPhone 6S: 4.7" 1334x750 326 PPI
Sony Z5 Compact: 4.6" 1280x720 323 PPI

The two best compact smartphone on the market. PPI number is the only one that matter. Everything else is a marketing gimmick to let you think specs are the only thing you need.

I read this a lot around here but since when a 4" display mean low quality device ? By that logic the iPhone 6s is kind of a budget phone with its 4.7" display compared to some monster like the 6" Nexus 6.

Display size doesn't mean flagship, some people still prefer small and portable phones. Phones number one function is not media consumption, tablets are made for this.
I was just disputing the posters logic. They stated that the iPhone 6S was poor because it only had a 720 p led display but held up the iPhone 5 as excellent value for money. Yet the iPhone 5 had the same faults and was way behind the rest of the industry using those metrics.

I actually think that 6S us better because at least it has a HD display.

Threads like this are completely, utterly stupid and pointless. "I hope that Apple knocks it out of the park with iPhone 7...etc. etc...they're letting me down, etc. etc..." Christ, what the hell are you people on about? What would you like it to do? Levitate? Make you better looking? You are looking to a handheld electronic device to give you a reason to get up tomorrow morning. This is pathetic.

Completely agree. I used to love Apple, but now I really dislike it. Currently I hate Apple as much as I used to hate Microsoft in the past. Apple has become the old Microsoft today, releasing buggy and unreliable internet services and software. Here are my issues:

1. iCloud Photo Library is a buggy and unreliable mess and no way to make Google Photos as default.
2. Mail app on my mac doesn't work with Gmail, just not receiving new messages, even tried restoring mac
3. Siri is a joke and there's no way to make Google now the default voice assistant.
4. No way to copy files from your PC to your iPhone.
5. It takes 25 steps to copy music from your PC to your iPhone, including dragging files to iTunes choosing which songs to sync and etc. Why not just let us drag and drop just like any other phone? Oh right, Apple wants you to pay $9.99 for Apple Music.
6. With the release of Apple Music, your own music library feels like a second class citizen inside iOS music app. AND Apple doesn't let you use an alternative music app as default.
7. iOS 9 made all my Apple gear obsolete, to the point where it lags like an Android. The only exception is the iPhone 6S, and that's by design because Apple wants you to buy their latest tech.

My issue with Apple is this: Apple is horrible at services, at least let us use services which are decent, but they don't let you. Apple wants you to use their buggy software and won't let you set any app as default instead of it's own.

It's not different than you posting: "I don't like apple no matter what and will find a number of reasons to justify my position." Your sure point #5 is not a wee bit toward the hyperbole side? Your point #4 is valid, IOS doesn't handle random files and doesn't have a file system acccessible to users like windows; it's a choice you willing agree to by buying their product.

iOS 8 has crashed a grand total of 4 times on my iOS devices.I have never experienced any reboots. In fact iOS 9 was responsible for bricking phones on the slide to upgrade screen

You want us to believe your anecdotal evidence about your experience with iOS 8 vs the many posts here that state there is no problems with iOS 9 on their devices which you doubt are true?

Sounds like you are the one with the issue, maybe it's a combination of apps on your phone, maybe it's your setup, maybe it's your backup, maybe you went from beta to live without restoring, maybe you are having micro convulsions and perceive these as an issue with your phone, who knows, but it is counter to the experience of many here.

Similarly the 6s users will tolerate stutters for 2017 while I will be enjoying the iPhone 7

Judging from your posts on this that I've seen, I can say in no uncertain terms, you definitely will not be happy with the iPhone 7. You will let any "microstutters" and slight lag give you nightmares at night and tear at your soul every waking hour.

So glad I'm not you.

The iPhone does have pretty low res screen,The Xperia Compact you mentioned is not even Sony's flagship. If you put the iPhone 6 against a Galaxy S6 Edge for example the screen of the 6 seems pale and blurry compared to the sharp text of the Samsung

Both are examples of Apple caring about margins more than customer satisfaction.720P on a $700 phone in 2016 is unacceptable when rivals like Samsung are in 2K territory

I experienced iOS 8 from 8.1 and above. The more plausible explanation here is that during that time I owned Apple's flagship devices which is why I didn't experience any issues. If I owned a 6S and iPad Pro I probably wouldn't have any issues with iOS 9 either.

I'm talking about stutter on a fresh restore iPhone 6.Apps aren't the issue here

On the contrary I enjoyed using my Air 2 and iPhone 6 when it was on iOS 8. 9 was where I started experiencing issues while I don't see these performance issues in this much severity on the 6S so I probably will be happy with the iPhone 7 if I buy it. But I am considering the S7 at this point too.

I don't care if you are or not.
Since you want Google services as default on an iPhone, you should just use a Google device.
Easy solution...

If I hate Samsung, as YOU said you hate Apple, I wouldn't buy an expensive Samsung phone.

Apple don't need an apologist, since they are producing some of the greatest products out there.
If you don't like them, you have alternatives.
What's so blasphemous about using Google services on an iOS device?I will put it to you straight,Google has the best services out there.Apple services seem amateurish in comparison.Google Maps wipes the floor with Apple Maps.Notes,Safari does not sync with Windows and my Chromebook. Siri's proactive still does not have the accuracy and usefulness of Google Now.Google Now actually tells me in advance about the traffic on my route before I start my journey and the best route to take as well as suggest news articles accurately based on my usage. It even tracks my Amazon shipments and most importantly is cross platform across my Mac and Windows.
iCloud Drive is inferior to Google drive considering the horrible interface and the pricing tiers the former has.
Google Photos unlike iCloud Photos is free.I have to pay Apple money for something which Google gives me free and as a bonus I get to reduce my storage through their compression technology which Apple does not have.

Google services are just too damn better than Apple and are most importantly platform agnostic which is why I use only Google on my iPhone.

Stop pretending that you know whether or not i am an Apple user.

Just keep being the Apple apologist that you are without accusing someone of not being an Apple user. No, really, just because I criticize Apple then i must not be Apple user? What a paranoid logic.
I guess the question then is - why are you still using Apple devices if you loathe them so much? Why not switch to another brand of devices which presumably suits your needs better?

I don't get this "I own X product; that gives me the right to criticise it all I want" mentality. Yes, it's not wrong to express your concerns with a certain area, but past a certain point, it just makes me wonder "Why do you bother?"

Not at all - if I felt that way, I'd buy a different phone. Apple makes what they think are superior products. If you agree buy them, if you don't agree don't buy them. Rather simply, really.

Apple has never been the kind of company to follow the crowd. They don't give you what other companies are offering (i.e. Quad hd displays, octa core processors, expandable storage) they give you what they want to give you. Does it suck to have a 750p display and 16gb in 2016. Sure! But what it does offer outshines the low spec offering. Apple is a high end brand and that's how they market themselves, which is why as long as people buy their products they will continue to charge an obscene amount for their products. Let me down? No, they are doing what any high end brand company does. That's exactly what I expect from them.

The thing I've come to realize with Apple is that you know what to expect with their devices. Yes other companies are being more innovative and putting better hardware into their devices. However here's what makes it difficult for me to move away from Apple:

1. If I have an issue with my phone I can usually have it resolved the same day or within 24 hours by visiting an Apple Store.

2. Outside of Nexus devices, most Android phones have to wait months before getting updates to the latest OS. There's also too many hands involved in the process. You have Google, the manufacturer of the device adding their UI/Apps/Crapware and then in some cases the carrier crapware.

3. If I want a premium built device (not made of plastic that creaks when you pick it up) on Android I pretty much have to go with a Samsung (with the laggy POS touch wiz) or am forced to the Nexus 6P. Not everyone wants a phablet for a phone. The 6/6S seems to be a perfect balance for me to allow for one handed usage. Give me an iPhone 6/6S with a 1080P screen and I would be happier.

Here's why I dislike Apple and am considering going to Android:

1. I no longer feel the iPhone is worth $649 with a 750p screen and 16GB storage. I can get a Nexus 5X for $299 with a 1080p screen and 16GB of storage, granted I would lose the premium build quality but I put my phones in cases anyway so it might not be so bad. If I could force myself into a larger device I could get a 6P with similar build quality to iPhones for $450 with much better screen, stereo front facing speakers and 32GB of storage.

2. I use more google services than I use for Apple services. Google Maps, Gmail, and of course Google.

3. I feel like Apple has become more greedy than ever before in the time I've been following/supporting Apple.

4. I have 128GB of storage on my iPhone 6 but can't easily "drag and drop" files, pictures, movies, etc to it. But I bought the product knowing this beforehand, just seems annoying to me there's no option to store things on here outside of Apps.

5. iOS has been unstable for me on 8 and 9. Right now the two issues I'm having is that my iPhone will randomly lock up and require a reboot. And I'm getting notifications on the messages app that won't remove the message from the Notification Center (even after reading the message) unless I reboot my iPhone. These are issues I would expect on an Android phone and not on an iPhone.

In conclusion I think iPhones likely offer the better "complete package" since everything is through Apple and they have physical stores to offer additional support. However, I think Google/Android is moving in a great direction with the Nexus line and is closer to pulling me from Apple. I just wish Google had another option in between the 5X and 6P, maybe a 5P that is the 6P just with a smaller screen. Give me all the 6P has to offer; build quality, hardware and form factor in a smaller screen I would buy that for sure.

Couldn't have said it better!
