This photo is misleading cuz it doesn’t show the Hummer this dude is holding in his other hand.
I think they purposefully got a guy with huge hands to make it look smaller.
I actually like all of the color choices this year so I can see why some are having a hard time deciding. Fortunately I’m not having a difficult time choosing which color to go with.Glad everyone else is having just as hard a time picking a color..
The black being actually black would make it my first black phone in years, but blue and green are tempting too.. who am i kidding the only one thats not in the picture is red

Yeah, that was an odd choice. Makes the mini look laughably small.I think they purposefully got a guy with huge hands to make it look smaller.
It's 0.77 mm smaller in width according to my math (or ~1.3%), but significantly larger in height. The fact that the mini screen is slightly smaller than the 6s is putting me a bit off.
I have been all over the place. I think green might be it. Currently have Midnight Green 11 Pro... I've soured on Red and I think my wife has claimed blue. No way on white. Black - plain, but possibility.I was dead set on that blue but the green is a lovely color as well.
Ding dang darn.
Yes, the overall diagonal measurement on the mini is 5.4"- that is only .1 inch smaller than the 6/6s/7/8 MAX phones. The regular 6/6s/7/8 phone screens were only 4.7. inches. It's 0.77 mm smaller in width according to my math (or ~1.3%), but significantly larger in height.

You can't really compare the diagonals like that because the aspect ratio is different (16:9 vs. 19.5:9).Yes, the overall diagonal measurement on the mini is 5.4"- that is only .1 inch smaller than the 6/6s/7/8 MAX phones. The regular 6/6s/7/8 phone screens were only 4.7. inches.

Yes the aspect ratio is different, but you still have only .1 inch less overall screen space than on the plus sized phones. Different aspect ratio for sure, and I do admit that if I get the phone and the aspect ratio along with the smaller size is just not great, I will return it and keep using my 11.... but from what I can tell, this seems great- big enough that everything will still be readable/usable, but yet has the very small footprint that I have been waiting for.You can't really compare the diagonals like that because the aspect ratio is different (16:9 vs. 19.5:9).

A lot of videos are longer sideways than used to be, aren’t they? You'd thing by now people would of realised that.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. The 6 Plus has 15.64% larger screen area than the 12 mini, and that doesn't even take into account that the X/XS/11/12 models have a relatively smaller "safe area" for the actual content, i.e. the navigation bar is taller and there is the additional bottom swipe bar.Yes the aspect ratio is different, but you still have only .1 inch less overall screen space than on the plus sized phones.
I'd love to have that sharp high-contrast screen. It must look magnificient in daylight.Hey there ! As I was curious about the actual size of the Mini, I built a little paper model to get a sense of how it felt. If you are interested in making one too, I included the paper model to print in the link bellow :
I was just going by the official screen measurements- the 8+ was a 5.5" screen diagonally, and the 12 Mini is 5.4". But as you said, there is the different aspect ratio, and maybe their measurement on the Mini includes the little tips at the top either side of the notch that are kind of useless?I'm not sure what you mean by that. There’s very little difference in power & features between any of the phones this year though, so its as close to a “Pro Mini” as we’ll ever get in the foreseeable future due to the limitations the form factor introduces. If they offered a Pro that was the same size as the Mini, I would be all over it. Don't get me wrong, the 12 Pro isn't obnoxiously large, I just prefer portability and would like to have the power of the Pro in a device with a smaller form-factor.
Look at Apple's specs page, it states: "When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 5.42 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less)." So the 5.42" diagonal is for the full width & height rectangle of 2340x1080 pixels, as if the screen didn't have rounded corners.I was just going by the official screen measurements- the 8+ was a 5.5" screen diagonally, and the 12 Mini is 5.4".
