I wouldn’t say I’m swapping my iPhone 12 Pro for the Mini, but I do own the 12 Pro and have Preordered the Mini in order to compare and see which one I will keep.
I don’t think the Camera (night time shots) will be a major factor for me (as I’ve preordered to the 12 Pro Max for my wife) but will see how Battery Life lives up to my daily usage and habits.

Should be fun :)
This was my plan but I returned the 12 to soon lol. Found out I had until the 23 of November for trial. Anyways at least I get a refund and if the battery life don’t work out it’s back to the 12.

Plenty of stock available here. No reason to stress it, I have decided to await reviews and decide on color. I still haven't been able to find the black or white iPhone 12s in store, and I'm still struggling deciding between the two.

Saw that too and ended up canceling my order when it hit processing stage, figuring that my excuse for buying one now (getting what I want while it’s available) had lost some strength.

Then I got some good news late yesterday morning that inspired me to order one after all, so I ordered a blue one that will still arrive on the 13th. Hurray!

My leather cases arrived today from Amazon... Now just a few more days until I have the phone in my hand! Cannot wait.

Hmm, just got two delivery notifications for tomorrow from Apple via UPS; might be filming an unboxing vid tomorrow :)

Edit: now updated to the package has not been received yet

Isn’t the material the same on the mini? Also the the 12 mini has the same specs as the 12, oh non-pro, except the size. The 12 pro and non pro names don’t make a difference on the material, just the camera but I could be wrong. 🤷‍♂️

The Pro has stainless steel sides, that are shiny and attract fingerprints. But the glass on the back of the Pro is "frosted" and gets less fingerprints. But this makes it more slippery.

The non-Pro 12 and 12 Mini got Aluminum sides with a "matte" finish, that don't show fingerprints as much. But a "normal" glass back without any frosted finish and it is more prone to fingerprints, but less slippery.

There is also a noticable weight difference between the Pro and Non-Pro models, because of Aluminum vs. Stainless Steel.

I have a return started for my 12 pro in and have ordered the mini 128gb black. The 12 pro just feels lopsided, too heave and too big for me. This is coming from a 11 pro.
Does it really feel that different from the 11 pro? My wife just got an 11 pro not long ago and I feel like that is the absolute max size I would ever want to tolerate. I currently have a 7 and I’m probably waiting till next year for 120hz but if the 12 pro is the new normal I might have to try the mini! But there might not be promotion on the mini next year!! Decisions decisions.

For me, it feels like I went back to the XR in size and I just don’t like that size phone. When I went from the XR to the 11 Pro, I was very happy with the smaller more comfortable feel in hand. I know there is a battery concern and will be missing lidar and the telephoto lens, but I notice the size every time I pick it up. I would only rarely notice I do not have the telephoto lens when I may want it.

I held on to my original SE for about 3y before I caved an bought the Xs on sale.

The Xs is def a better phone and I don’t miss the (in comparison) washed out LCD of the SE. But the Xs is a brick and close to impossible to use one handed.

10 months in and I still feel like I’m going to drop it every time I hold it with one hand.. (12 Pro is even bigger and heavier = Not an option).

At almost 2x the cost of my original SE the mini is far from a bargain, but it’s also not made from stuff they found in an old parts bin either.

My Xs will be replaced for sure. Will miss 3D Touch, what an amazing feature for text editing!
Same here. Got the Xs around launch because I was maxed out on my 64 GB SE and really tired of the drab screen.

Was great two-handed but caused strain/ergonomic issues one-handed. Used it for 23 months with no case and no AppleCare, zero drops.

The mini that replaces it is 135 grams down from 177g which will be noticeable in shorts pockets.

For all of the folks getting the Mini, you guys better go case-less.

Thankfully Apple isn't using the frosted glass on the iPhone 12 models like they do on the Pros, because that glass is very slippery compared to the regular glass. The small size of the Mini in combination with the grippy glass back and flat edge design will make it a dream to hold securely in your hand. Slapping a case on that cute little beast would be a crime.
Heck yeah, an important criterion when I choose a new iPhone is how practical it is caseless. For this reason I skipped the entire 6-6s-7 era due to the slippery matte aluminum.

I thought the matte aluminum was slippery, but the glossy stainless was not.

The mini is a mix, the sides are matte and might be slippery but the back, importantly, is glossy and should grip.

Yeah, to me, although not one handed as I have quite small hands, X and XS were good to hold, even better than f.e. iPhone 11 6.1 . They had normal glass back + stainless steel sides. They were the least slippery ever. But very heavy which really outweighs the least slippery point.

To me at least the 11 Pro Max could not be hold without a case, hell even the normal 11 Pro. It was BIG, HEAVY and had frosted glass. Frosted glass in comparison to glossy glass is amazing to look at but a nightmare to hold caseless. My iPhone 11 6.1. f.e. is good to hold but too big and too heavy to hold it comfortable!

I really don't know if to get Apple Care+ for it. On the one hand, I wanna use it caseless most of the time, and it is small and light, so shouldn't have that risk of dropping. On the other hand maybe this is exactly why it could be dropped more. Too light. I don't know. Only thing I know is I will buy my fave screen protector as soon as it becomes available. My 11 looked horrible after only one week with no keys etc. in my pocket.

Will you all who go caseless buy the AC+ ?

I felt the X was super slippery. Place it on what ever surface, and it will vibrate itself down from it after a short while. :D I even considered spraying something on the glass back to give it some friction or resistance. Now, my X is broken on the back and front.

I am getting Apple care + for my Mini yes, and go fully nude!

The mini in green is super cute. I love it a lot. I have and use the SE1 in rose pink to this way, and am very drawn to the mini for obvious reasons. But my eyesight is giving in, I don't think I can use a small screen phone for another 4 years. So this year, I'm going for the 12pro. IN GOLD color. Closer to my rose pink SE1. :):):)
