Btw: the leather case for the mini is 22g, if anyone was wondering.

(compared to the 25g of the 12)

So the Mini with case would be 155g. (Still below the 162g of the 12 without case)
That’s blowing my mind tbh, because I’ve held the 12 and even it feels crazy light for the size.

I just weighed my iPhone 8 with the Apple leather case, I got 165g. So it’ll be lighter than this, can’t wait!

Now I just need to wait until Best Buy has the 12 mini leather cases in stock as I have a gift card there.

As a light to maybe moderate user, on some days, the mini will be the perfect fit for me. I imagine if I was using my phone a lot I'd need a bigger one.

The 12 6.1’’ is only 1hr 13mins more... us mini users aren’t missing out on much.

The battery life is sufficient for my 9 - 5:30 job, my main usage will be on the commute so happy days.

After watching this, I'm not worried about battery life at all.

This definitely helps out things in perspective. Of course the mini is going to have worse battery life than the other 12 phones, that’s a given. But I watched some other battery comparison videos and the iPhone 11 and Xr and SE all have worse battery life by 1-2 hours, and obviously plenty of people use those phones without problems.

That being said, the 11 Pro and 11PM both have truly exceptional battery life. I know Apple would never do this but I wish they had offered an LTE-only mini. I use an 11 Pro now and I’ve gotten used to this battery life as the baseline, so I’ll have to put the mini through its paces to make sure I can really rely on it day to day. And if I can’t, I’ll probably just stick with the 11 Pro until next year.

After watching the Zollotech unboxing on YouTube I'm excited. He showed the black mini in the saddle brown leather case. Looked ace👍
I would love to have my iPhone in a leather case. However, I have to wipe my phone and watch with alcohol prep everyday and leather is not suited for that.

Blue Mini (due 17th - 19th) and black apple leather case (due tomorrow) now ordered. Hopefully the size suits. I’m sure battery life won’t be an issue for my usage.

I'm going back and forth on whether to get a case for my mini or not. I currently have an 11 pro with the apple leather case and I don't like that the new model has protection across the bottom - I hate whacking my thumb every time I swipe to go home. Not seeing a whole lot of cases with an open bottom, so I'm debating just putting on front & back screen protectors and calling it a day. Plus, I ordered green and would be nice to actually see it.

Or...does anybody have any experience with transparent cases that don't have a protruding lip on the front? A screen protector could guard the front while a super thin case would protect the back glass and sides. I may be asking too much.

Wonder if the new mini's will have the same warmer display as the regular 12's?
Interested seeing this as well. Think I saw that Samsung is making the Mini and Max displays, LG the others. Also, BOE was recently added after first failing initial QA. BOE makes me nervous, they have a shaky history. Never mind warm, they cant even get the basics right lol. Cough cough ... huawei Mate 20 pro

I pre-ordered the mini in blue 64g, I am sure I will see it on Friday at some point. It will be replacing my 8 plus.

I am sure I am in the minority here, but I have zero concern in this phone being "too small" or having a smaller battery. It is a mini and it will be smaller. If I didn't want that then I would have gotten one of the bigger options. If I wanted the mini, but I was concerned about the battery, then I would have had to make a choice about what was more important to me. If I am using it and the battery is getting low then I will plug it in and charge it or use an external battery.

I do not concern myself with the weight of a device and it is xx grams heavier or lighter. Does it really matter? Can you really tell the difference? If so, then choose accordingly...we have options. If Apple didn't make the option exactly how you want it then I guess you are going to have to make a choice and settle. It is crazy to me to read through 1500 posts and so many nit picky things that are brought up. I am pretty confident that this phone will be an upgrade from my 8 plus and I will be satisfied.

Like I said, I am pretty sure I am in the minority that these nit picky things aren't important to me. I am looking forward to getting my new mini and I am sure it will serve me well. Good luck to everyone with what they choose.

For me it’s not so much its battery performance on Day 1, but how the extra wear and tear (i.e. from more frequent charging) will hold up over the course of a year, two years, etc., especially with 5G being known for consuming more power than 4G/LTE.

I tend to keep my phones for three years or more if possible, so this kind of thing obviously matters more to me than it would to people who upgrade yearly. The battery life of my 6S has been, at best, a nuisance since the day I unboxed it—the only major knock on an otherwise great phone.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Mini pans out when people have had a chance to really put it through its paces. My Pro arrives Friday but I’m keeping an open mind. ;)

I use Totallee cases because they’re crazy thin. Maybe those could help you?

If you get a screen protector that will give just enough flushness to eliminate your swiping issue
