For me it’s not so much its battery performance on Day 1, but how the extra wear and tear (i.e. from more frequent charging) will hold up over the course of a year, two years, etc., especially with 5G being known for consuming more power than 4G/LTE...

I wore the Lightning connector out and only got 4-1/2 years out of it, constantly charging my original SE. My wife doesn't use hers nearly as much and she'll get 5-1/2 or more easily. She's waiting for an iPhone Air with Touch ID like her new iPad.

I always recommend dark colors for big phones, and lighter colors for smaller phones because visually it balances things out. If you get a black mini, then the whole phone looks even smaller,....unless of course that's the look you're going for.

I just think on the mini you should go for a "fun" color. Small, but bright! Love the green mini.

I‘m sort of leaning on the black for the exact same logic, but in reverse.

The blue seems like a really nice, classy color, but the reason the black interests me is precisely because it makes things look smaller.

After years of big, heavy phones, I’m finally going back to something small, and so I’m tempted to go all out in that direction. A small phone with a slimming color (black) is very reminiscent of the old iPhone days, and that‘s kind of enticing after having used big, heavy devices for the past 3 years.

I’ve now seen the red and blue color in person. They both looked good, but I was surprised at how big difference was in terms of fingerprints. Blue: nasty fingerprints all over the place. Red: hardly visible. (And yes, I was assured both were heavily used demo units.)

My advice is: if you plan to go naked and you’re *at all* concerned about fingerprints, go for the red, mint or white.
I own the Red 12, though I’m returning it to go back to my midnight green 11 Pro with a mint 12 mini combo. It’s a fun bright color and the color shows well though clear cases I’ve tried.

But of course, if you use a clear case, that changes the equation a little depending on the plastic used. The case could still end up showing a lot of fingerprints that you wouldn’t otherwise see as easily on the bare finish of the phone itself.

Anybody else order their mini from Apple directly- have a delivery date of the 13th- but it shows it is still preparing to ship?
I find it odd that it could get here on Friday if by Wednesday night it has not even shipped yet.

My husband’s pro Max is showing the same status as yours and he was wondering the same thing. My mini was ordered day before yesterday so I won’t see it until end of the month or early next month.

I wonder if some of the phones have been already shipped and stockpiled locally.

I ordered a blue 12 mini right away on 11/6 and mine also shows Preparing to Ship with 11/13 delivery. I wouldn't worry about it. Apple has a very good track record of hitting these delivery dates.

Another positive review for the mini. Overall it's all about what you're looking for - if you want a small phone the mini is the best choice out there.

Austin Evans is a waffler. Not too long ago he posted a video about the 12 Mini being a waste of money LOL.

Ugh I am so tempted to upgrade (downgrade) from my 11 Pro Max. My hands start to hurt after some time from the weight of my 11 Pro Max. I don't know if I could go back to using a small phone but I am so tempted that I may just do it this weekend.
At least give the mini a try. You know it would be so much better for you. Stop fighting the call of the mini. :D

That is very true. Apple Pay’s big money to UPS to make sure people get their phones on time. With the staggered release, I really don’t see why Apple is sticking with their no phones before Friday rule. It doesn’t make a lot of sense outside fo sticking to tradition.

Preparing to ship status on the Apple websites doesn’t mean it is still preparing (a lot of the time). Apple doesn’t update shipping right away. Often times, a phone is already in china (or farther along) and Apple will still say preparing. UPS is excellent at getting a phone from China in one to two days.

Thanks! This is the first time I’ve ordered directly from Apple, so I am not familiar with these quirks.

I had my order in 10 minutes after preorders went live, so I will just trust them on that 11/13 delivery date. :)

I was keen for the mini coming from the 11 pro, but got a 12 thinking if I didn’t like it would give it to my wife and get the mini, not that she gives a rats arse, using her XR happily, after 2 weeks I couldn’t go smaller, the smaller keyboard alone would drive me nuts.
If anything I would go max for the bigger brighter screen and telephoto, all I am missing.

Most of the tracking here are just for fun and it’s nice to social with the group. But unless you are really unlucky it will most likely be there by Friday. My iphone 12 pro was still over at east coast the day before it was supposed to arrive (I’m over at the west coast). The phone was dropped off the morning of at the local UPS sorting facility. This time Im rarely tracking the status of my mini but it looks like it is moving faster than last time. Then again my wife wanted the least popular color so that might have helped.
