I'm leaning towards sticking with my 13 for another year. I have been thinking of potentially upgrading to the 14 Pro, but I'm obviously going to wait until Apple announces the new devices before making any decisions.

Yes depends on features and pricing shows at reveal, as well as how much prices of other things rise or fall by then. And if they do a good trade in promo again.

I'm also 100% keeping my iPhone 13 Pro this year.

Apple have reached the pinnacle in iPhone design so I really can't be doing with the whole upgrade process this year JUST for a better camera or any other incremental changes they may make.

Add the fact that my 13 Pro has literally sat on my desk this past year (whilst working from home) - there really is no incentive for me to upgrade.

:)

Sorry, I have a feeling that won't be the case in September. Get ready to get WOW'd by Apple. LOL

Battery life isn't such a big thing for me. I work from home and my phone is in one of two places. Either plugged in on my nightstand or on my desk. And my desk and a few places around it have charging cables and chargers. Not really worried about it.

I have an iPhone 6s+, and several other older iPhones, and their batteries are doing fine as well. The 6s+ also had a battery replacement last November (after 6 years on the original battery). The 6s+ handles iOS 15 just fine. I've never had the problems everyone else seemed to suffer from. If the past is prologue I don't expect a problem from iOS 16 with my iPhone.

Finally, I have a sixth gen iPad I got new in 2018. Right now it's running iOS 16 beta (the public beta). Haven't noticed any difference in battery life with it so I'm not expecting anything to impact my 11PM.
I assume you got the 6s battery replaced at an Apple store? I have one that I use as my work phone and battery life is starting to not get me through the day.
Wanted to make sure Apple will still do the replacement.

Yes, Apple store. Specifically, the Apple store at Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale, AZ. Made an appointment, went in and had it done. That was nine months ago.

If you're on the fence though, I'd suggest getting it done soon. It's only a guess on my part but as soon as iOS 16 drops I would not be surprised that Apple stops supporting the 6s+ and your only recourse for battery replacement would be third party. The 6s and 6s+ will not get iOS 16, which is why I say that.

In any case, it'd probably be best to do it soon.

I’m torn. I’ll most likely update simply because that’s what I do every year and really do enjoy the run-up to launch and all that, but I’d like at least one feature to knock my socks off. A decent camera upgrade will probably do it, as I’m really happy with everything about my 13 Pro Max right now.

Maybe, maybe not. I’ve been on a 2 year cycle since iPhone X and, unless Apple includes a feature in the upcoming lineup that I absolutely can’t live without, I’ll most likely keep my 13 Pro.

I am more than happy with my 13 Pro, however if the camera sensor gets a major megapixel and quality bump I’ll probably upgrade, but if not or it’s not worth the upgrade cost then I’ll be more than happy to keep hold of this device it does everything I need, and does it brilliantly.

For the first time since the iPhone 4 I am skipping the annual upgrade. I have zero issue with my 13 Pro and battery life is still amazing. As far as new expected features, I see no benefit in the hole punch vs notch and have no need for the always on display when I have an Apple Watch.

I love my 13P and currently plan to keep it. Previously I had an XsMax, which I sold, followed by a 12PM. I found I was tired of the larger phones so I gave the 12PM to my granddaughter. I don't usually purchase a new iPhone each year BUT if they come out with the predicted always on display, an even better than ever camera with awesome battery life and yes, I can be influenced by the color purple, I might cave.

Gonna stick to my 13PM and maybe wait 1 generation after the 14 is released. New camera hardware for the IP14PM might not be all that optimized on the first iteration and have never been an early adopter :)

Launch day 13 PM user here. I was going to keep my 12 PM but decided to get the 13 PM because of the great trade in deal, 120 fps, and macro shooting. However, I'm more resolute than ever to keep my 13 PM for another year. This phone is amazing, battery life lasts me days, and I've switched a lot of my reading to it. It's a 1TB edition so I've loaded it up with everything and it may be my age but I really have no desire to get a new phone.

Only thing that really interests me is the camera bump - I am a hobbyist photographer and I do most all of my shooting via my phone.

But no, 1 more year. I'm sure the 15 will be amazing and it will give me something even more to look forward to (trading in a paid off phone and even more new features).

No reason for me to change unless I go back to android. The pixel 6 is catching my eye but let’s see if hat happens.

I totally agree. The 13PM is built to stand the test of time. Even if iOS 16 takes a hit on battery life, I reckon the numbers will still be amazing for screen-on time.

I’ll probably be upgrading once Apple goes USB-C on the iPhones. I look forward to the day to have a single USB-C cable coming out from the plug near my desk to charge my Watch, AirPods and iPhone.

I only just bought my 13, it's the first time I've ever had a current generation iPhone. I usually buy the older models when they come down in price but I was really really struggling with my SE 2020's battery life. I had the battery replaced by Apple not long ago but it made very little difference. I'm really impressed with the 13 and as someone else said the battery life is insane. I can see this lasting me for a while and no doubt will have software updates for many many years.

Good post. This reflects my experience with the 13 also.

I kinda want to keep my 13PM b/c there isn’t much about the 14 so far that makes me feel the urge to upgrade. The only problem is I’ve grown tired of Sierra Blue. So yeah, I’ll likely be upgrading for color and obviously the small upgrades in specs.

There is this meme that says something to the effect of "I'm so old I don't upgrade every other year" and then there is the fact that since like iPhone 11 on up it seems, the phones speed-wise are still incredibly fast. Besides that, this is like the first iPhone I've ever bought besides my X (that I protected incredibly well) that hasn't cracked or gotten seriously damaged and I work in rough work conditions and just use a crappy clear flimsy plastic case.

Besides that I still have Apple Care with my 11 so I'll likely just change the battery, and wait until the 15 Pro MAX. The difference will be much more vast I think, and I will enjoy the upgrade much more, especially the OLED, no notch(?), 120Hz, better cameras, better build quality, USB-C, and more.

I don't get how someone could upgrade a phone every year anyways.
