My CRV has sat radio and I have a subscription. The streaming app on the Tesla sounds worlds better. The CRV is a touring and has all of the bells and whistles.

Of course the sound system in the Tesla is probably much better.

It’s specific to the Tesla apps. It is normally better via streaming. But for some reason, when you go back and forth between the satellite and streaming app in the Tesla, you have to turn down the volume from the satellite source as it is significantly louder vs streaming. Since Tesla doesn’t give you the ability to adjust source volumes it makes the satellite version a clear winner.

I just assume with a future update they will fix this. But I also have a feeling they will not increase the bandwidth of the SXM stream, since it uses premium connectivity.

One killed as cybertruck explodes at Trump Las Vegas hotel https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cz7qd97eyp0o
Probably posted a little prematurely in the EV thread:
Authorities believe fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel were connected to a detonation system controlled by the driver in the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside a Trump Hotel in Las Vegas Wednesday morning

It's a good advert for Tesla, it absorbed the explosion very well.

As soon as I read the story I guessed it wasn’t an accident. But also knew the anti EV brigade would be all over it.

Truth is cars were blown up long before EV’s were around.
I've seen loads of comments about batteries being dangerous because they've seen 'Tesla' and 'explosion' in the same headline but didn't get far enough beyond that for the context.

I don't understand why hotels allow cars to be parked next to the entrance like that.

I wonder what changes Turo is going to make because of this.

Oh, and it won't stop. I mean, the renter was a clean skin. Authorities state already that it was intentional yet don't know how it was ignited. And Elon was super quick coming out to say the telemetric of the car was normal, it wasn't the car. Some might say unusual behaviour of the perpetrator, unusual behaviour of officials to make such a statement (when they don't know the cause yet), and unusual behaviour of a car manufacturer CEO to go public so quickly and check the car telemetric instantly. Then again, it is Elon Musk ;)

There is a lot of material here for further speculations.

Pretty normal in most hotels I go to, exit/enter/unload the car. Or just leave it there for a moment whilst quickly getting something.

And that the renter got a cyber truck for this. Surely, there are cheaper cars!?

The F150 that drove into the crowd in New Orleans was also a Turo rental.

I'm not sure I understand why the CT is even bought up... From what I saw in videos, the other Terrorist act was done using a F150 Lightning (I can see the grill light bar, and in at least one picture of the bed you can see the word "lightning").

These are horrific terrorist acts. The vehicles they were driving have nothing to do with EV talk.

Because Tesla gets clicks, good or bad (well more so when the news is bad).

Agree, nothing to do with EV, but, the vehicle itself and the CEO commenting almost instantly just polarize and everyone reacts … sad world for those attacks as well as how it get “reported” and reacted to

Before the CEO commented, it had already made it's way around the net, including this thread...

Oh no it didn’t. No need to defend what is easily verified and simply no so.

And damn, one really doesn’t want to look at his twitter feed 😬😢 This is the least worrying actually.

Anyway I digress and forget Tesla can’t do wrong for some 🤷‍♂️

The selection of car seems pretty meditated though a trump hotel with a Tesla. I don’t think that’s an accident.

The video made the usual cycles before it was even known it was a terroristic act. You are welcome to show me where the CEO commented before the video made it’s way around the usual sights as I mentioned.

I agree, the Tesla CEO and anyone defending the truck, as well as anyone using this as the usual anti-EV/anti-Tesla points need to stop.

This was an attack on the US, as far as we know now it was domestic terrorism (with or without foreign aid)…

And choosing the Cybertruck because it's the most polarizing Tesla vehicle.

But also, probably a coincidence, but… Both terrorist attacks were carried out by current or former US military personnel. New Orleans was former; Vegas was an active Green Beret who was on leave (vacation) from being stationed in Europe.

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think that the battery went through a thermal runaway. Maybe the fire was not intense enough for the battery to ignite. If the enormous Cybertruck's battery goes into a thermal runaway, it would take quite a long time to extinguish the initial extremely intense fire, plus to stop the numerous cells from exploding. At least for what I saw in the published videos the fire was not very intense.

This is not directed toward you, but to others in this thread: As for the suspects, nobody but the agencies involved know the reasons for the acts of terrorism or not, and the investigations will probably take a long period of time. Both former soldiers were US citizens, and that they had been enlisted in the military is not what is most important, since the agencies involved can have the individual records at their disposals.

From the photos of the aftermath, it's clear the battery is fine (at least for now.) When an EV battery actually starts burning, it turns the vehicle into slag. Even the CT's thin stainless steel shell won't stand up to a 123kWh Lithium Ion fire. The remains would barely be identifiable as a vehicle, much less what model. (This is what a Model S looks like after burning.)

Presumably the perpetrator hoped the battery would catch fire and cause further damage (just as presumably the perpetrator of the New Orleans attack - who rented a Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup and had IEDs in it that he never got to set off.)

The Cybertruck's bed floor is even plastic, so setting off the explosives in the bed should have given it the "best chance" of igniting the battery. But it turns out that it's actually hard to start a Lithium Ion battery on fire purely from other fire. You really have to pierce the battery to promote it to start burning.

This event wasn't "Cybertruck explodes" or even "EV battery catches fire" - this was purely "explosives set off inside vehicle; interior of cab caught fire."
