iPad mini Who is enjoying their mini 6?

Kinda over the whos returning their mini 6 threads. I Got it. Personally I am really enjoying the device. I’ve owned all flavors of the iPad from the original to Pros and airs. Usually my interest wanes quickly and I just go back to the laptop and phone combo. This hasn’t been the case with the the mini. Form factor is perfect for me. I don’t see the jellygate so it’s a non issue. For games and content consumption it’s been excellent. Sorry I threw this thread out there just tired of negativity that seems to permeate so often on these forums

This is exactly what is making me contemplate getting a Mini. As much as I like the iPad, I've never owned one as I've never seen the need. The Mini seems like a great device for what you describe, as it's got a larger screen than the phones but is still portable. I haven't decided if I'm going to bite yet, but in part that's because I'm wondering if I should get the smaller Pro instead for the extra storage, faster chip, the ability to connect a smart keyboard etc. However, then I remember the same thing you mentioned above - I'd just use my laptop at that point. The Mini seems like it would augment the phone rather than replace the laptop, and this feels perfect.

Enjoying my Air 4, but I'm very tempted to get the Mini 6 as a companion iPad. Feels pretty frivolous to do that, since I've never had two iPads before, but I miss having my Mini 5 and don't want to part with my Air. I've played with the Mini 6 in stores. Love it.

Coming from mini 5, I’m loving the 6 and the new design. I’m using it a lot especially this time of the year with football season and fantasy. It makes it easier to keep track of my fantasy teams while easily being able to switch on different games being played.

I’m loving mine, I use it more than any other device I have and always want to reach for it. My phone now stays in my pocket and my iPad Pro in my bag. The only thing I’ve struggled with is the keyboard but I suspect I’ll get better with it in time. Touch ID is even kind of an upgrade because of masks, particularly at work. Couldn’t recommend the mini 6 more personally.

Well said. My experience mirrors yours. The mini has been my most used device. Probably 70-80% of the time I'm on the mini.

That could be the basis of using a larger iPad for some things and always have a mini around for relaxing, on the go where that’s all you need. The air might be traded up to a pro (new or refurbished) eventually or maybe you use it as a trade in against the 14” AS MBP when it arrives. Either way there’s always something next for you. I really enjoy my mini 6.

Agree. For me, the Mini 6 is a much better indoor Kindle reader than my Kindle Oasis.

I’ve used the mini 5 and now the 6 for reading on the Kindle app for so long, that I forgot that I even have the Kindle Oasis along with the Voyager and the Paperwhite. The Kindles are all great devices, but each has minor imperfections, i.e. light bleed, dead pixels, etc. I do have to say that I enjoyed the Voyager over the Oasis. The page controls on both sides of the device is really nice. Another enjoyable feature of using the Kindle app on the mini is being able to see images in color.

Yeah, besides the Oasis I also have an original Kindle and a Paperwhite.

Yeah, love it, bought some Satechi USB-C cables and SD card reader to go with it. Who knew we were going to be able to do that years ago with how tight the security on these things have always been? Looking forward to getting a nice keyboard case for it in the next year (the on-screen keyboard is fine though). Right now I have the Apple Smart Folio on it and it's pretty great, you can tell there's some strong magnets in there because the Pencil gets stuck there in the back too.

iPadOS coming from the 1st generation mini is really nice. The split screen is so useful on this compared to macOS. Still trying to get used to getting to the app switcher without the home button, but like how you pull up Control Center now.

Only real issue is that Shortcuts is buggy. Having problems renaming/deleting them and the touch point seems to be off for hitting the x button on the right of actions, so I have to remove them by hitting the icon and using the menu there. Apple has no way to contact them for feedback about it like their other apps...

And yeah, the first tablet I had was a Dell Tablet PC and it was good, just a bit too big. My mom has the first iPad Pro and that isn't all that compelling to me either. Would still rather have that on the computer.

I am. I've owned every one of them other than the Mini 3. This is by far the best of them all.

In no particular order, the display is an improvement, gen 2 pencil is a huge improvement, USB-C is an improvement, the fact that now my pencil and accessories now work for both my 12.9" Pro and my Mini is a big plus...and those are just the ones I use all the time. The improved FT camera with tracking is great, as is the A15 chip.

I don't have the jelly-scroll problem others have. Maybe because I use it mostly in landscape format, maybe because I don't try to read while quickly flick-scrolling, maybe I got lucky, maybe my eyes aren't good enough...whatever. I also don't have the problem with display distortion when you press near the upper RH corner - that's probably pure luck. The apps I use aren't causing scaling problems.

I am having trouble finding anything to complain about. I picked mine up on launch day, so the return window closed on Friday (two days ago). I started a return on Apple.com in case something else comes up in the next two weeks, but right now I'm happy with the upgrade from the Mini 5 and I expect that I'll keep this and stay happy that I did.

90% of my handheld productivity and consumption is done on my Mini 6 while my iPhone 13 Mini either stays docked on its charger or in my pocket, doing phone and apple watch things.

Since my iPad Mini 6 is also cellular, it comes with me everywhere as part of my everyday carry when I have time to sit down and use it.

It’s too early to tell for sure, but my Mini 6 didn’t time out while streaming our favorite radio station (app) even once when traveling to our camp, and only once or maybe twice on the way home. Sometimes the timing out on the Mini 5 was so frequent during some parts of the trip (on an Interstate highway, no less) that it was almost painful to try to listen to the station.

I won’t know for sure for several months (trips every two weeks most of the time) but I’m optimistic.

I’m enjoying mine. I’ve only done one Procreate drawing on it so far, but I’ve used it several hours a day most days since I got it two weeks ago. It’s a solid two to two and a half hours one way to the camp and I’m using it except for a few minutes when I’m eating (and it’s streaming the radio station even then, sometimes navigating).

I was thinking about keeping the Mini 5 for backup but I’m back to thinking I’m probably going to sell it to a friend who loves getting my tech hand-me-downs.

So I decided to return the iPad Pro 11 M1 today. After 2 weeks of using the iPad Pro 11 M1, while it was nice to have, it was too much for what I needed for and I wasn't really happy with it.
1. I mostly used it in landscape mode
2. I only used it for web browsing, email, reading, and youtube
3. It was uncomfortable to hold and I kept switching to my iPhone 12 due the comfort it has.
4. It was too bulky to take to places
5. I really did not need all that power from the M1 processor in the iPad Pro and that the iPadOS is not optimized yet for the M1 processor.

I wished that I did not cancel my preorder on the Mini 6 in the first place. I was over-exaggerating over the jelly scroll effect without trying the Mini out at the store. I'm now going to order the Mini 6 256 GB due to:
1. Its form factor
2. I'll mostly use it in landscape mode
3. More comfortable to hold

I guess I have to wait for early November for it to be delivered to me. Hopefully I'll be happy with the Mini 6.

I don’t understand how people are vacillating between an 11” iPad Pro and the Mini (any of them)

They are so wildly different in how you use them comfortably, portability, ideal use cases on and on.

Other than both being “iPads” they aren’t similar devices at all.

It is like going between a phone book and a paperback novel
