I wished that I did not cancel my preorder on the Mini 6 in the first place. I was over-exaggerating over the jelly scroll effect without trying the Mini out at the store. I'm now going to order the Mini 6 256 GB due to:
1. Its form factor
2. I'll mostly use it in landscape mode
3. More comfortable to hold

I guess I have to wait for early November for it to be delivered to me. Hopefully I'll be happy with the Mini 6.
Please be advised that the local Apple Stores get all the configurations in small quantities each week. Each store gets a few different config, so you might have to travel a ways depending on local stores.

All you need to do is configure the color, RAM, Cell or not, engraving or not, and check local pickup for the stores in your area. It will display close matches in stock if available. They aren't in stores very long but if you find what you are looking for you will save that 4-5 week delay. These are all new at this point. Just need to check several times each day as the stores receive truck deliveries.

Its how I located mine one week after they were available. I lucked out on a Friday.

I don’t understand how people are vacillating between an 11” iPad Pro and the Mini (any of them)

They are so wildly different in how you use them comfortably, portability, ideal use cases on and on.

Other than both being “iPads” they aren’t similar devices at all.

It is like going between a phone book and a paperback novel
It’s kinda more like going between an iPad and a smaller iPad.

Enjoying my Air 4, but I'm very tempted to get the Mini 6 as a companion iPad. Feels pretty frivolous to do that, since I've never had two iPads before, but I miss having my Mini 5 and don't want to part with my Air. I've played with the Mini 6 in stores. Love it.

i was in this boat until yesterday when I ordered a mini in Starlight…completely frivolous! but I had been wanting a cellular iPad since I’m able to travel again. Looking forward to having a device small enough to palm and use anywhere without having to tether.

though I probably will get rid my air…not quite ready for the multiple iPad gang just yet…need a home big enough for it to be too much of hassle to walk from one wing to the other. totally kidding I can see a lot of use case for multiples, just not for me yet.

It's like choosing between a Pro and a Pro Max, or a standard (6.1") and a Mini (5.4") iPhone. There's pros and cons to each size. Many struggle with such a decision, and the best way to know for sure which is best for you is to try both.

In the case of the iPads, the Mini is obviously more portable and perhaps more convenient as a result, while the 10.9" and 11" have much more screen real estate and better keyboard support, among other things.

The Mini even has further advantages over the latest Air, like Center Stage and 5G. I often get excited about front camera improvements, so I was happy moving from the Mini 4 to Mini 5 in that department, on top of all the other improvements.

It was unfortunate that the Air 4 didn't get any front camera improvements compared to Air 3, but that's just because iPads don't improve the front camera very often. The iPad Pro 2017 was the first to have a 7MP front camera and that didn't get any improvement until this year. Luckily every single iPad released this year was given the same front camera treatment.

So if cellular improvements and front camera improvements are important to you, the Mini 6 is actually superior to the Air 4 in its tech. But not superior to the Pro 11" in any tech-related way. Just a better size for some.

So I decided to return the iPad Pro 11 M1 today. After 2 weeks of using the iPad Pro 11 M1, while it was nice to have, it was too much for what I needed for and I wasn't really happy with it.
1. I mostly used it in landscape mode
2. I only used it for web browsing, email, reading, and youtube
3. It was uncomfortable to hold and I kept switching to my iPhone 12 due the comfort it has.
4. It was too bulky to take to places
5. I really did not need all that power from the M1 processor in the iPad Pro and that the iPadOS is not optimized yet for the M1 processor.

I wished that I did not cancel my preorder on the Mini 6 in the first place. I was over-exaggerating over the jelly scroll effect without trying the Mini out at the store. I'm now going to order the Mini 6 256 GB due to:

I recently sold my 2020 128GB iPad Pro for the mini. Zero regrets and like it much better for my needs. Especially for portability! Two things I miss from the Pro. Faceid and 120hz. Not deal breakers though obviously. Mini iPad Pro would be nice in the future.

I like my 11" IPP 1st gen (3 years old and out of Applecare+), but it is a little cumbersome in bed even with the Smart KB and I don't use it for much else except very occasional travel now I switch backed to a Mac.

Anyone think the Mini 6 would work better for me? Don't want to deal with selling it so I would rather just trade it in and can't get it back once I trade it in.

I utilize the Mini 6 in a Targus* case that props it up in landscape so I can surf and watch video content easily in bed. Alternately its easily hand held in portrait when on a sofa or chair. Its certainly more convent to use than a larger MBP. ;)

* self modified case, just enlarged the camera opening to make it work. Speakers can still work even if rubber covers them somewhat. Hey everything else out there is not drop proof yet.

I am just wondering if my middle age eyes would think the screen it too small but I have the Pro on a bean bag thingy next to me down by my hip, whereas with the Mini I would think it would be easy to my hold it closer since it would be smaller and lighter.

I found the landscape video presentation + speakers even at a distance of 2 feet works fine.

Haven't touched my 12.9 iPad Pro in two weeks! That says it all!
Seriously... My 12.9 has been sitting in my bag now that I have my Mini 6.

I know an earlier poster said they enjoy Touch ID, but I dunno... I find it.. slow? Like, I feel that Apple included the first gen Touch ID because of how slow it is. And because both my iPhone and iPad Pro are Face ID devices, I keep on forgetting to put my finger on the wake up button.

I think that's my only complaint. Touch ID has been a bigger step backwards than I thought, but I missed the form factor so much. It's my go to device that I pick up now.

Also, it seems to run hot... Anyone else get that too?

I would definitely buy an iPad mini pro in an instant if it had Face ID, 120 refresh rate, and 128 GB base model. But as of now, my mini 6 is a delight!

Which one did you get? I'm not sure if I should get the 64GB with WiFi/5G or the 256GB WiFi, or if I should wait for the refurbished Mini 6 256GB WiFi/5G from Apple. Anyway I would need to upgrade my starter unlimited data Verizon plan to add an additional line or get the plan that includes the hotspot.

Yup. I‘m fine with TouchID personally but I reaaalllllllyyyy miss the 120Hz. That’s the one thing IMO that’s keeping the new mini from essentially being flawless. Imagine ProMotion + mini-LED + no jelly on this thing.. Wow.

Hmmm....I wasn't even thinking about the Mini until I stumbled on this forum. I had a mini years ago but switched to Pro a few gens back because of the pencil. Currently on last year's Pro...wonder if I should give the Mini a try :) For those who have both...when do you find you use the Mini and when the Pro?

This ^^^.
I’m so jealous of y’all in this thread who can enjoy the mini as it is, flaws and all ?.

If my eyesight wasn’t so insanely sensitive, I could’ve been enjoying mine too! An ipad mini pro is the dream but probably too niche for apple… Heck, I can’t help but feel if they didn’t neglect the mini all these years and offered more options across the board, something like a mini pro would be more in demand.
