I guess the other big thing for me and the mini is I will use my ipad for work purpose sometimes, example, reviewing power point slides on trips... I find it would be really tough to do this on a small mini?

I do some limited Excel stuff on my mini, but it’s not ideal for certain.

I just sold my 5th Gen 12.9 IPP and ordered a new Mini. I have a 13 Pro Max as well. The 12.9 IPP was just too much for my use case even though I loved it. I want something more portable for browsing, some game playing, watching Netflix etc. I'm hoping the Mini 6 does well for me. Anyone else have 13 Pro Max plus Mini 6 and can comment on how it's working out? Thanks.

Where as I find it really tough to do if it isn't on a Mac for comparisons. I think the Mini 6 allows you work with business documents to a degree. But anyone that really wants to edit documentation, the smaller the screen, the more inefficient it is compared to a laptop/desktop running MacOS. Especially if your working on two documents at once.

Still I do see a lot that can work performed with some apps using the pencil 2 with a Mini 6 reflected in numerous YouTube videos, but that's not really what I bought the Mini 6 for.

yeah, I dont do any real work on any ipad, except scanning, or reviewing documents. question is, would I be able to do this on a mini for a 6 hr flight? Or is the pro better for that?

I am loving mine! I got it on launch day & have loved having a mini back in my life since losing my ipad mini 5 early this year. I love it for catching up on RSS, Twitter, Apple Arcade, & YouTube. I wrote about my experience a bit more in depth on my personal site if anyone is interested. I also love the positive them of this thread!

I think its down to what ever is more comfortable to hold and stow quickly. I've seen people using larger iPads when I was using a iPad mini 5, I thought they had a tough time using them especially with occasional turbulence. Obviously the standard array of business apps is accessible to both models. Reviewing should not be a problem. The Mini 6 camera is easier to use than a much bigger iPad Pro to hold for scanning during a flight. The airlines also want laptops that aren't bigger then 14'" and weight so much to go flying with turbulence. I could really see someone travel with two devices because flying is very cramped and you might want what's smaller. A Mini 6 like the Mini 5 can easily use the tray without dominate it like a Pro.

Mini is great for looking at documents. I view in portrait for full pages, and flip to landscape if I need a closer look.

Actually working on them, not so great, but possible. Depends on how much editing/composition you want to do.

I just got the darned 13PM, and since I also purchased the Mini 6, the 13PM is collecting dust. SMH ? I seem to only use the 13PM when I’m out and about and taking calls. I gifted my 12.9 IPP although I still have the 11 IPP and the 5th gen Mini, but again, I haven’t picked them up.

The Mini 6 is just too good in my opinion and convenient. LOVE IT! ?

LOL!!! I’m usually not far from my phone since my company is still WFH, but I also usually have my cellular AW on… and at times, if I’ve switched on Wi-Fi and forgot to switch off on my phone, I’ve taken calls on my iPad. Many options are available for taking calls in my house! :p

And to think… you could have a device that offers multiple workflow/consumption options as well. :D Despite all of the naysayers, the Mini 6 is a really great device, especially if you accept it for what it is. Consider, I take online classes and I’m able to read my ebooks and annotate any pdf documents that is given by the instructor, as well as responding to forum posts. Granted, I wouldn’t want to work on a spreadsheet with the Mini 6, but I’ve have no problems working with Word or pdf documents if I am not near my desktop or MBA. In a pinch, I can also access my desktop at work through Citrix Workspace.

There is a reason that Apple has the 14-day return window.;)

I’ve gotta say my Mini 6 is probably my favorite device I’ve bought this year. I’ve been doing more reading, disconnecting from my phone and social media(iPad is mainly consumption of media for me), and it has been great. For the first time in a while I won’t be traveling with a laptop and will take my Mini 6 for everyday tasks, gaming, and reading on this upcoming trip.

This is me exactly. The mini 6 is an absolute joy to use and I’ve been using it more than any other iPad I’ve had in a while. The execution of this device is A+.

Just so I understand. You were "disconnecting from your phone" to instead use an iPad. How is that any better/different?

Yes I had the 12 pro Max last year and got the 13 Pro instead (non-max) this year as I knew I’d be getting the new Mini. The new Mini is getting a lot more use than my new iPhone too

I often have to take screen shots of an app I help support and mark them up to help users, or mark up photos from their trail cameras to help them adjust their camera position. Having the pencil attached to the Mini 6 is so much more convenient than going into my office to find/get my pencil 1 or Crayon, especially since I often need to mark up while I’m in bed. It’s a little thing, but it’s also a big thing.

Why a question asked in such a way to try to 'get' the person. Honestly, this statement makes so much sense. On my Ipad mini, I have removed work email and all other email except the one tied to my icloud, as well as social media and have left on news articles, games that my family can play together, books during our quiet reading time. You absolutely can disconnect from the world trying to get your attention with this device by setting up in an intentional way.

I don’t understand how people are vacillating between an 11” iPad Pro and the Mini (any of them)

They are so wildly different in how you use them comfortably, portability, ideal use cases on and on.

Other than both being “iPads” they aren’t similar devices at all.

It is like going between a phone book and a paperback novel
Well, I am a 11” iPad user and I have briefly considered getting an iPad Mini. But the lack of a keyboard stops me.

However, the iPad keyboard (smart folio) is not that confortable after all, and I am making lots of mistakes lately while typing. I could switch to an iPad mini and just use the MacBook Air instead of the 11” iPP. However, I need a feature from the iPad so right now my only portable machine is an iPad.

Could an iPad mini replace my 11” iPad Pro on the college? Yes, but when I use it to type (like now, for instance) and make it *lappabe*, the mini can’t provide a good typing experience.
