I've often thought it would be a good idea to make the AW rectangular. Slightly longer along the arm than across.
that would allow a larger battery and more screen space.

I've always got the bigger size which I think is pushing the too big boundary on my 165mm wrist, I have no objections to a 3rd bigger size though if people want it.

I would certainly take a bigger size. I need readers for my iPhone and for the small text on my watch. I use the accessibility feature that zooms in with the two finger double tap especially late in the evening when my eyes are the most tired. A larger screen will not be the fix but would help some with scale. I would not do away with either of the current sizes but something 15-20% larger would still fit my wrist and be a benefit to my seeing text without getting my glasses out.

Not 7 ft but 6’4”. 45mm is comically small for me. Also, the larger the screen is the more space will be for content, more complications, etc. Also hopping for more battery life.

How many inches is your wrist? Do you own any mechanical watches (ex Rolex)?

You could buy a bigger case to make it bigger. The Garmin fenix 7 even though look bigger than AW7 but its screen size is tiny at 33mm compare to 45mm .

The article has been edited and only mentions 47mm as a possible larger size.
Yep, I see that now. When I read it, initially, it did say 50.5, very close to what the OP wanted.

I thought 50.5 is very large for a watch but I’d probably still rock it. To each their own. I see the Apple Watch as more of a wrist worn computer with a time telling feature than a time piece with other functionality. Why I’m opposed to a round Apple Watch.

Apple Watch is lugless so 45 mm is like a 40 mm with lugs - way too small. I am tired of toy-like Watch sizes. We need a bigger size and more importantly way longer battery life. At least 3-4 days. If Garmin can do 6 days with Epix I am sure Apple can too.

I’m with ya... All for a larger Apple Watch. To me, it’s a wrist worn computer first. I just hope they never go round. The rumored/leaked UI on the upcoming Google watch looks horrendous. Same for previous round smart watches I’ve owned (Motorola, Samsung, LG Google)

Yes please, I would love a bigger Apple Watch and a rugged design. More like a Garmin Fenix or Casio G-Shock but ala Apple style.

This looks pretty spot on to me actually

I am still rocking the AW4, it works great and tracks all my bike rides through strava flawlessly.

  • Occational handsfree call
  • Tracking excersizes via the Strava app
  • checking Crypto stats.
That is my use case of the AW4 after almost 4 years of daily usage, it is severely limited because the watch functions are severely limited.

Apple need to put focus on the software, make measurements more accurate, give us a personal AI trainer that goes way beyond the glorified speech to text SIRI.

Something that helps us organise our life better by learning to know us in a offline method so your data is not out there. helping you to train better and more accurate for your needs, helping you with chores and reminders based on GPS and your habbits when you are at these places.

Make the smartwatch actually Smart!

The only reason they'll be doing a larger size is because nothing really new is coming with the AW8. It's the same thing they do with the camera on the iPhone. More of next to nothing, and people buy it.

Needs a larger battery or some other meaningful feature.

Current iterations of the watch are better than the AW4 for GPS and HR, at least in my experience. That said the 4 was probably my favorite iteration of the watch.

I think it is totally in line with how watches looked pre-Apple watch, but most of us have gotten used to the look of bigger sizes now, so that it does look pretty small in relation to the “modern” look.

I wear a 45 on my 145mm wrist, which I’m sure looks too big to some, but my eyes are terrible and need the biggest text size I can get, so I don’t care.
Yea size don't matter much. If your eyes need bigger screens, go with that. Nothing wrong :). And don't worry about what others think, just be yourself. Always. As you know yourself more than anyone.
